    Dracula fire commented on the garage earlier. I couldn't help thinking that a garage that clean surely must the work of a very sick mind ;-) Have a great weekend mate!

      Yeah the neighbours don’t even know about the bodies buried under the slab🤫🤫.

    Your Motor Meltdowns are absolutely my favourite. Actually whenever you take something apart and melt it, floodlights, etc., I love.
    It’s like alchemy.

    So poetic how the door closing, letting the shadow take the light's place, while the two ingots remained in the dark!

    I build those motors for a living. We literally have hoppers big enough to fit 2 trucks in full of scrap housings and stators... Not to mention tons of shavings from all of our CNCs. You'd be like a kid in a candy store. Lol

      I would love to pump out more than one video a week but in my current job sometimes I’m working 84 hours a week so it’s near on impossible to even do one a week, Luckily I work nightshift to do my editing and I can sometimes squeeze a melt in 1 afternoon b4 work. Which means that I get a nice treat after work every Thursday night/Friday morning, since you tend to post around 3am Eastern every Friday morning (You're 12 hours ahead, so you seem to post at 3pm AWST).
    Point being, I love this channel man. :)

    Hey big stack why don’t you make a smaller bronze bar and set it in a large ingot mold and then pour aluminum on top of it so it encases the bronze .. it would give it the reverse Twinkie split appearance .... just a thought

    • @bigstackD
      @bigstackD  6 лет назад

      Actually that might look rather interesting 🤔. I could do a small copper bar then pour aluminium bronze over it then brass then aluminium . Yeah I’ll chuck it on my list matey🤘🏻😁. It won’t happen straight away but it’ll definitely happen mate👍🏻

  • @christianrathbun1578

    Old keys melt nicely also , sometimes the key department of the hardware store will give you the keys that they screw up. Just about All keys are made of bronze or maybe brass

  • @wolfrig2000
    @wolfrig2000 5 лет назад

    Have you ever thought of investing in one of those mini steel forges? There huge with a tiny capacity so it'd take up a lot of space, maybe backyard outdoor equipment, just enough to fit a brake drum and can melt steel, not portable either, you put your cast under the crucible and turn the crucible from the side with a wheel. You can also use it you melt other metals too! And a lot are electronic temperature controls!

    • @bigstackD
      @bigstackD  5 лет назад +1

      i have no desire to melt steel so ill stick with my 2 devil-forges for now.

  • @adropbear09

    I like the raw video stuff thumbs up, also i saw a video a couple of days ago and the guy added a hair dryer to the air inlet of the gas burner and it reached higher temps heaps faster and he said he was saving lots of gas now..

    • @bigstackD
      @bigstackD  6 лет назад +1

      Yes I have tried adding even the tiniest bit of air to this burner and unfortunately it doesn’t work . the second I put any additional air in the burner starts having a hissy fit and can’t have a continual strong flame, i’m assuming it’s just the way the burner was made 🤷🏻‍♂️👍🏻

  • @christianrathbun1578
    @christianrathbun1578 6 лет назад +1

    Alright bro you got me as a subscriber and thanks for responding to my comments .i will even give a thumbs up to all videos .. yep there are things more entertaining than melting metal into ingots and other shapes but it’s always in my top three when I have spare time . My neighbors always give me a worried look when I fire up the foundry . I had the ATF stop by one time after a potatoe cannon project got a little outa hand...but thanks again for the response .. cheers bro

    • @bigstackD

    I thought you were gonna mix it together haha. They came out great though 👍🏻 what was the random pouring mess at the end haha. I think the copper got too cold too before it hit the ice.. I was hoping for a better sizzle haha. Good job!

    • @bigstackD
      @bigstackD  6 лет назад +2

      Yes it was a bit disappointing but it was a pretty small bar so small bar small sizzle. That mess in the end of the video was an old video I uploaded when I was drunk and pouring brass into Clay molds that hadnt quite dried. Another day another video and some cute little bars to add to the collection. I haven’t had a fail for awhile I think that disappointed a few people But I will have files soon enough so all good. catch you soon mate😁

    Nice looking bars and that mold is my favorite mold that you use. Do you know Brady Schwartz the one that comments on every video that you post well that would be my second channel. I just got braces in my teeth yesterday and I want them out I have to have them in for 2 years and I don't know if I'll get used to them.

      Never had braces so couldn’t offer any advice. Although I did see the comment to CaptainJerk that you got them. My sister had braces and she hated them but did eventually get used to them trust me if they put braces on you need them and you will be happy you did it in a couple of years I can assure you 😁👍🏻

    Hey bud! Been a while since I've visited your channel. Sorry about that :) it would be cool to see if you made something practical. For example, if you have tools that are in poor condition (something easy like a wrench, shovel etc.) It would be nice if you used your metal to remake them. It will take a try or two but that sometimes is the fun part in learning.

      I actually have an old copper hammer head I want to melt it down to a new copper hammer head it’s on the list but it will be in a future video. I’m just trying to get all my scrap melted so I can start all my casting projects with the clean ingots , it’s such a long journey but I’m in no hurry I’m going nowhere my friend👍🏻

    Hey man great video as always!
    Just wondering if you by any chance wanted a heap of old shotgun shell hulls to melt?
    I'll happily send them over to you as they're taking up room in the shotgun shell box, I find a lot of them metal detecting. They were all made before 1960 so there's no plastic, should just be all brass. If you're interested let me know and I'll email you some photos or something before I send them :D
    I have a few handfuls so I think you'll get a cool ingot from it

    • @bigstackD
      @bigstackD  5 лет назад

      Matey I would love nothing better than to melt some stuff my subscribers have sent me unfortunately if you’re in the states or overseas and not in Australia customs are very strict on sending even empty casings or even fake bullets Or anything similar. One of my subscribers tried to send me a big pile of brass bullet casings And customs shut him down quick smart no idea why as they were all crushed and un usable but they just didn’t let them through. 🤷🏻‍♂️ . So if you’re in Australia we can definitely sort something out but unfortunately if you’re overseas as much as I want them you’re only gonna waste your time because they won’t get to me. ☹️👍🏻

    Sir i am curious to know why every time slag is formed when metals are molded

    • @bigstackD
      @bigstackD  5 лет назад +1

      Yeah matey the slag is just all the impurities and dirt grease etc that was on the pieces that are getting melted . Usually I’ll keep my slag and remelt it at least 1 more time and I’ll normally get about a 25-30% further recovery from it 👍🏻😁

    • @bigstackD
      @bigstackD  6 лет назад

      Yeah over filling that particular mold always makes little loaves. I have quite a few Aluminium loaves now but like I said you can’t do that with copper bronze brass as that’ll fill the mold then just pour over the edges like water🤦🏻‍♂️. 👍🏻
