    As an American, I've always liked the look of a Scania. And 770hp...Love to drive that over the mountains in the western U.S.

    • @paddysyron
      @paddysyron Год назад

      Don't be fooled by the 770hp. Euro trucks have way less torque. Yankee trucks haul about 10tonnes more on average and go way way faster

    • @Demonoid1990
      @Demonoid1990 Год назад +11

      A quick search online would say otherwise, the S770 claims to have 3700 NM (2730 lbft) of torque. The company Freightliner I'm in with the Detroit DD15 is making around 560 HP and 1850 lbft (2508 NM) of torque. After that it just comes down to specific gearing for your needs.
      Volvo on the other hand could probably offer their Cabovers over here if they really wanted to. Same goes for Daf under Paccar, both already have extensive dealer networks. Scania is part of the Traton group under VW, they bought up Navistar/International a while back. Currently they are entering the Canadian market offering off-road mining trucks last I heard.
      Having the short wheelbase of a Cabover would be awesome for me. I specialize in hauling glass up and down the west coast and western states. (CA, OR, WA, ID, NV, AZ, and UT) Unlike Dry van or Reefer I have to back out flatbeds and double drops all the way into often time tight narrow bays. The glass gets loaded or offloaded usually with overhead cranes setup on tracks in the ceiling of the facilities.
      Aside from the rambling, hehe, these Euro trucks have plenty of power and torque compared to North American rigs. I mean Scania and Volvo both sell trucks all over the world not just Europe, and other countries are gonna have different laws and regulations, and needs to be met.

      @@paddysyronwtf, EU trucks have less torque? Scania 730 have 3500 nm, Volvo 750 have 3550 nm, and Scania 770 have 3700 nm. I don't kbow their figures in lb.ft but it's definitely bigger than your most powerful mass produced semi engines. All US truck max output just 2050 lb.ft or only 2780 nm.

    • @paddysyron
      @paddysyron 11 месяцев назад

      @@ajidamarjati I'm curious. An English born and trained mechanic in Alberta where I trained said Euro trucks have their benefits relating to maintenance. But he said they are slower and carry less weight. I have never run a euro truck. I've pulled up to 62.5 tonnes no worries with a 550 or so. I see Euro Trucks usually max out legally at about 44 tonnes. I'm sure their are exceptions. I look forward to running a Euro Truck. I believe on mainland Europe they are limited to 90kph? And weights? What's the story there you tell me?? My specialty are hydrovac trucks 86,000 loaded legally usually 550bhp motors on ridgids. Tandem Tandem or tri drives. Like a cement truck capacity. What do Euro Tandem Tandem cement trucks haul. 86,000 lbs is about 41.5 tonne. Thanks Paddy

    We pull b double 6 axle trailers And have to say whilst the Scania has better fuel economy my drivers including me prefer the Volvo simply because of cab space and comfort
    Bed is better and layout in cab is better
    We regularly run at 55t so its Volvo for me

    • @markusylitalo8376
      @markusylitalo8376 Год назад +1

      This is one thing I never understood! Are you there for driving or just hang around in the truck. I mostly sleep in the cab if I'm not driving. Space is important but the most important thing in a truck should be the ergonomics of the driving position! just for your own health. The bed of course is important too if you sleep in it. I could write book of the comparison why Scania is better than any other build, I dear say, in the world. If the Scanias S-cab isn't big enough then nothing is. Volvo FH was lost with its mojo for the whole 2nd generation. The driving was awful and the cabin was a fail from the get go because of the tilted windscreen. 1st and 2nd had problems with side mirrors, hiding cars and other objects behind them. The upper boxes and tachograf almost touched your forehead. 3rd gen is much better in these areas. And thank god the over steering is back on 3rd gen! Though I know the sleeping cabs in NZ can vary from European ones in length and height. But the point being why prefer space etc before driving ergonomics. We are drivers, not sleepers for profession. 25y of trucking with Scania, Volvo, MB, DAF and MAN.

But the V8 Scania all day long for me as I’m a diehard Scania man but have always had a huge respect for the Volvo Globetrotter since the very late 70s onwards when a Northern Irish International Haulier named “Persitt International” had a fleet which was predominantly Volvo Globetrotter’s in an eye-catching red colour? Which in itself was extremely unusual as Irish International hauliers have always favoured having a fleet of Scania V8s…Cheers Fella really enjoyed you’re video and it’s good to see ya back on RUclips 🍺⚽️🍺⚽️

    Scania was quite good - when it was independent.
    Now, that is under the VolksWagen Group, its quality decreased significantly, hurting both reliability in the long-term, but also availability even in the short term.
    MAN is also part of the VolksWagen Group, along with many other passenger car brands.
    I really dislike the ethics and drive of the VolksWagen Group, hence, I never purchse or even recommend a product from the VolksWagen Group!
    Please, be a fan of your wallet, the environment, and your well-being.
    Never of particular brands!
    Inside a brand there are some really good models; and other really bad models.
    Even inside the same model, there are some quite good version, generations, and engines; and other not so much.
    Hence, be a fan of you!
    The rest is marketing.

    I'm not a fan of Scania, I think Scania has been lagging behind in models and technology for years.
    if you look at MERCEDES/DAF/M.A.N/VOLVO, they have a big lead in model line and technology to make the driver as comfortable as possible, but also in road safety. the only thing scania has is the v8 but that v8 doesn't really do much against the comfort and safety of the other models.
    SCANIA has a lot of hot air and calls itself the king of the road. but it must be the freak off the road
    But that is my opinion

      What world are you living in??? First scratch of the pos MB/MAN/DAF. They are from stone age! Mass produced trucks that sell anyway but just awfull to drive! I'll take a good 4-series Scania any given day before any new of those. Regardless of engine the Scania have been front runner in consumption for years now. Including the predecessor of next gen. MB Actros V8 was a joke, period! Volvo have its electrical problems still after 15 years. Good other vice but lacks the small details that Scania has. Volvo 1st and 2nd cab was annoying tight. I speak from 25y experience of driving. In some poit all of these manufacturers.

    Why are you eating some of the worse food in the World? I stopped eating at that place back in the 1980’s! Human meat has been found in their food!
