Almost every single store closing for the most part has been former SPP & PTTs. As they're the oldest stores and the most likely to have issues. But that being said it should be noted the company its self is on shaking grounds and that some of these closings seem to just be desperate to trim a massive amount of fat. The company is scrambling to figure out what to do hence why that survey was done although its way too late for anything meaningful to be done. Also a majority of CEC employees could care less about CEC Closing if the company would actually tell stores a decent amount before hand. They don't tell stores just so people don't leave before closing! They actually don't care about anyone.

The main problem was them trying to become one and failing. Dave and Busters is just..Better. It’s generally more affordable from my experiences and has a better selection of games. They wanted to become Dave and Busters without putting in the money required to compete with Dave and Busters similar in a way to how six flags tried to jack up the prices and act like they were on par with Disney and Universal without putting in the investments to be comparable. The company has put itself in a position where what it offers to the consumers is outdated, lacks the games of many of its competitors, is often more pricy then its competitors and no longer has the animatronics to differentiate itself. They kneecapped their one significant advantage/differentiator. It’s even more egregious since if they hadn’t done that they could have cashed in big on the nostalgia brought about by stuff like FNAF. They wanted to change but weren’t willing to put in the legwork or money and they didn’t want to pay the upkeep of the animatronics or get a large better selection of new games and now they are being left in the dust.
I the the fact most of these closures are 2.0s is the most fascinating part tbh. It kinda shows that it was a waste. Also with ND and SD without CEC, that drops the number of states from 47 states to 45
cec's peak at 48 states before south portland, maine closed on december 16, 2012. cec never had a presence in wyoming or vermot if i had to guess, idaho, montana, and new hamphire are next on the chopping block, since they all only have one location each, and it's an older one
A lot of the 2.0s were also older locations, (one of the oldest CEC's, one of the first SPPs, etc.) Which I believe is part of the reason they're closing those.
Yep, it's taken CEC executives far too long to realize that the 2.0 remodels are costing the company way too much money when they were already struggling to stay afloat and removing the animatronics was the worst possible decision they could have possibly made... they should have just made better versions of the animatronics to help keep the shows fresh and give them something to set them apart from other pizza arcade joints. But it's too late, as too many locations have already removed them. 🤦♂️
They really should have just made a simple chart comparing what they have over their competitors in the eyes of consumers and they would have seen they came woefully up short in consumers eyes in many ways. Now consumers are tightening their wallets and are gonna be even harder to attract towards weaker experiences

They're gonna go out of business in a couple of years due to the modern day world. I just wanna say though, generation Alpha will be the last generation to experience Chuck E Chesse's. By the time Gen Beta will be old enough to remember, CEC will not exist likely. Let's hope it does though.
I remember first going to Chuck E. Cheese on a school trip, it was quite a blast to be in. Very sad to see so many locations being closed this years which has never happened before since the pandemic, and it's actually shocking to hear that the 2.0 locations are actually half of the locations that are shut down so that's millions if not billions of dollars going to waste. All of the animatronics, all of the decorations, all of the soul and joy that was once in this very place are just gone and i am quite upset to hear that. Honestly whoever's in charge of the CEC entertainment must not know what they are doing cause all they know is make things worse as time went on, i really hope people who actually had experienced going to Chuck E. Cheese can find a way at some point to preserve the arcade pizzeria place so that future generations can have the experience like we experienced.

The biggest loss to me with this whole 2.0 shit is the loss of the OG location in San Jose. I got to visit it once and, as someone who’s never seen those older models outside of the one used as decoration in the other San Jose location, it was truly incredible and like a look back in time. It’s really shocking that they chose that location out of all of them to shut down

Omaha Nebraska is the last location in Nebraska. It is rumored to Close its doors but its not for sure. It is my local. Used to be a 3 stage. got the 2.0 remodel and if it closes its doors that means another state will have no more Chuck E Cheeses.

Welp my theory of CEC going bankrupt from the damn stupid 2.0s is starting to happen, the CEC near me just got the stupid “upgrade” and it was at the time the *LAST 3-STAGE IN CALIFORNIA* now I ain’t even gonna bother going there since now it’s probably gonna close too
It’s likely 2.0 might be taken away if it’s hurting the business or Chuck E. Cheese might completely rebrand into a restaurant that isn’t focused on children and basically everyone and bringing back a lot of retro elements. That’s what they should do because they’re failing and if they don’t wanna be gone forever like Toys “R” Us then they got a revive them selves.
I hope I can give a bit of speculative context to Fargo’s. Recently our city opened a new sort of party space. It’s called KingPinz and if you google it, you can probably see why it would out preform. But on top of that, if you look at a map of Fargo, CC was tucked behind businesses off 13th Ave. When I was reading some comments on news channels, some were saying that they had lived here 10 years and never knew we had one. Part of the reason is CC never did much advertising but also as I mentioned, it was tucked behind buildings. Driving down 13th Ave, you’d never know it’s there unless you’ve lived in the area for decades. I’m 33 and had went there when I was 7. It’s the only reason I know we had one. My BF who is from another town, he had lived here 5 yrs before realizing we had one due to a birthday party for a younger relative. Plus we have another restaurant kinda similar called Space Aliens. One big difference there is you don’t need a kid to be able to eat there. So with this, I hope it gives more of an idea on what possibly happened at Fargo’s location. I hope those rare items will be spared. I do feel for the employees. It’s pretty tough nowadays.

If you ever wonder why Chuck E. Cheese locations close a good reason to tell is just compare them to their competitors. You will find that the newer locations with the animatronics removed tend to stack up the worst as on almost every category their competitors are equal or better to them.
Honestly when I heard about the news, I thought they were gonna permanently close all their locations But apparently they’re not and from what I’ve been told from my good friend his personal theory is that the only reason why they’re closing is they need more space for the trampoline zone but that’s just his opinion

There's one Chuck E Cheese Location here in Puerto Rico I went there over 15 years ago for my cousin birthday now I don't know if is still open or Shutdown but if Is still open I don't know how long is going to last even that is the only Chuck E Cheese Location in Puerto Rico.

I wouldn’t be surprised if my Chuck E. Cheese’s of Greenwood Mall in Bowling Green would also shut down, but I’ve only been in there once back when I was a kid, I constantly begged for my mom to take me there a bunch of times back then, but my mom had some concern about the animatronics in there, I don’t remember if I saw them or not, but I feel my mom was wanting me to steer clear of them because they’re either too scary even back when she was a kid, back when the place was a Showtime Pizza Place and it was in a different location not far from where the CEC currently is, or she my worry if I get up close and personal to them, thinking the characters are real, there might be a good chance that something bad will happen to me once one of the animatronics started malfunctioning and resulting in a disaster. Though whenever they decide to shut this location down, they’re might be a good chance a Dave & Buster’s would take its place in entertainment, and when it does, we’ll go there on occasion. Because CEC has a policy on children being a requirement for entry, and my siblings and I getting too old to go in anymore. Dave & Buster’s is made for an older crowd and not just kids, so seeing a D&B in Greenwood Mall is going to be a huge relief for my mom and everyone else in the family. TL;DR if Chuck E. Cheese’s closes down, I’ll start getting my hopes up for Dave & Buster’s.
The requirement of having a child with you has always been a myth, and I myself thought they had when I originally made plans to go to one in NYC (I ultimately went to D&B's instead) back in 2018, before I later learned that they never had such a policy, and even CEC themselves on their website says that everyone is welcome: I've seen plenty of videos of childless adults, including those going as a squad of friends, going to CECs, and that, along with my curiosity was a factor in my decision to finally check out a CEC in LA, which I did a few weeks ago, and I absolutely enjoyed it. As I'm from the UK, we never had CEC here, and I've missed out on CEC many times during numerous holidays to Florida as a tween/early teen. Though as much as D&B's has a much broader appeal, CEC has the nostalgia and youthful factor. If CEC could channel some of D&B's energy, they could definitely be on to something.
Hopfouly, they're gona open another atlest 10 normal location whitout animatronics, and if they open 2.0s, atlest make adventure chuck a thing agin and put the animatronics back, maby they could make a similar thing like the 1997 stage (the one whit the chuck that they inspierd to the movie galaxy 5000) And they can do a cool chuck e chisees whit adventure chuck head and rokstar chuck clothes, and whit a C cap

2.0 shouldve kept the animatronics if not the studio c models they seem to be the most fluent and can easily be turned into djs. if they wanted and they should turn them into activity centers, not just an arcade, but actual other activities like trampolines, building centers, and so on while having sections rated by age and skill. With ai we need to stimulate creativity and make it a positive. But obviously they wouldnt do this, cause corporate 😒 deff need people to sneak some pieces especially the rare ones.

studio c was so good, when i was younger it was the only animatronic i was comfortable with. it sucks that this is happening, yet im not suprised.

I hope I can give a bit of speculative context to Fargo’s. Recently our city opened a new sort of party space. It’s called KingPinz and if you google it, you can probably see why it would out preform. But on top of that, if you look at a map of Fargo, CC was tucked behind businesses off 13th Ave. When I was reading some comments on news channels, some were saying that they had lived here 10 years and never knew we had one. Part of the reason is CC never did much advertising but also as I mentioned, it was tucked behind buildings. Driving down 13th Ave, you’d never know it’s there unless you’ve lived in the area for decades. I’m 33 and had went there when I was 7. It’s the only reason I know we had one. My BF who is from another town, he had lived here 5 yrs before realizing we had one due to a birthday party for a younger relative.
Plus we have another restaurant kinda similar called Space Aliens. One big difference there is you don’t need a kid to be able to eat there.
So with this, I hope it gives more of an idea on what possibly happened at Fargo’s location. I hope those rare items will be spared. I do feel for the employees. It’s pretty tough nowadays.
Huntington Beach is also closing and relocating in May 😢😢😢
hot take:if they ignored the drop down in sales in avenger era..and kept going they MAYBE wouldve gotten a better premise if they didnt create rockstar...(i dont hate rockstar era its just that i undoubtedly love avenger 10x more than rock star..)

If you ever wonder why Chuck E. Cheese locations close a good reason to tell is just compare them to their competitors. You will find that the newer locations with the animatronics removed tend to stack up the worst as on almost every category their competitors are equal or better to them.

Honestly when I heard about the news, I thought they were gonna permanently close all their locations But apparently they’re not and from what I’ve been told from my good friend his personal theory is that the only reason why they’re closing is they need more space for the trampoline zone but that’s just his opinion

CEC corporate should’ve listened thought twice before getting rid of the animatronics, the animatronics are what made cec famous in the first place well we will just have to see happens in the near future
I called the Chuck E Cheese at 9161 E Stockton Blvd Pad B, Elk Grove, CA 95624, and they said they wont permamently closed.

There's one Chuck E Cheese Location here in Puerto Rico I went there over 15 years ago for my cousin birthday now I don't know if is still open or Shutdown but if Is still open I don't know how long is going to last even that is the only Chuck E Cheese Location in Puerto Rico.
It's still there open actually and surprisingly no 2.0 stuff yet which is good
I used to go the the Monroeville pa location it was great it had the band i think the tokens and tickets

I wouldn’t be surprised if my Chuck E. Cheese’s of Greenwood Mall in Bowling Green would also shut down, but I’ve only been in there once back when I was a kid, I constantly begged for my mom to take me there a bunch of times back then, but my mom had some concern about the animatronics in there, I don’t remember if I saw them or not, but I feel my mom was wanting me to steer clear of them because they’re either too scary even back when she was a kid, back when the place was a Showtime Pizza Place and it was in a different location not far from where the CEC currently is, or she my worry if I get up close and personal to them, thinking the characters are real, there might be a good chance that something bad will happen to me once one of the animatronics started malfunctioning and resulting in a disaster. Though whenever they decide to shut this location down, they’re might be a good chance a Dave & Buster’s would take its place in entertainment, and when it does, we’ll go there on occasion. Because CEC has a policy on children being a requirement for entry, and my siblings and I getting too old to go in anymore. Dave & Buster’s is made for an older crowd and not just kids, so seeing a D&B in Greenwood Mall is going to be a huge relief for my mom and everyone else in the family.
TL;DR if Chuck E. Cheese’s closes down, I’ll start getting my hopes up for Dave & Buster’s.
The requirement of having a child with you has always been a myth, and I myself thought they had when I originally made plans to go to one in NYC (I ultimately went to D&B's instead) back in 2018, before I later learned that they never had such a policy, and even CEC themselves on their website says that everyone is welcome: I've seen plenty of videos of childless adults, including those going as a squad of friends, going to CECs, and that, along with my curiosity was a factor in my decision to finally check out a CEC in LA, which I did a few weeks ago, and I absolutely enjoyed it. As I'm from the UK, we never had CEC here, and I've missed out on CEC many times during numerous holidays to Florida as a tween/early teen. Though as much as D&B's has a much broader appeal, CEC has the nostalgia and youthful factor. If CEC could channel some of D&B's energy, they could definitely be on to something.

2.0 shouldve kept the animatronics if not the studio c models they seem to be the most fluent and can easily be turned into djs. if they wanted and they should turn them into activity centers, not just an arcade, but actual other activities like trampolines, building centers, and so on while having sections rated by age and skill. With ai we need to stimulate creativity and make it a positive.
But obviously they wouldnt do this, cause corporate 😒 deff need people to sneak some pieces especially the rare ones.
