This episode is dedicated to rhythmic patterns in Bharatanatyam, the Classical dance form of India, emphasising the importance of Nattuvangam. Nattuvangam is the rhythmic sound play of cymbals which a dancer keeps in sync with. The episode features students of Kala Samarpana, a school run by veterans Narasimhachari and Vasanthalakshmi, followed by students of Adyar Lakshmanan a pioneer teacher in the field of Nattuvangam. The episode also features Padma Bhushan Alarmel Valli, internationally acclaimed for her ability to turn traditional grammar into a subtle, deeply internalized, personal dance poetry.
