This is unironically one of my favorite scenes of the entire show. Just seeing him go step by step through his morning routine is so comforting in the middle of an otherwise high adrenaline anime. It's like hitting the save state in a Resident Evil game.
This, and the scene where the Hayakawa family (aki, power, *dennis* ) all eat a bunch of takeout and just… laugh together. It’s so nice for all of them, really. *Dennis,* Power/Meowmy finally have a safe place to eat and call home and Aki has his little sibling family again.
What I loved about this it’s the absence of background music. Just pure natural silence and nothing else. You can feel how genuine it is to real life… Masterpiece.

Makes me wonder how good Chainsaw man could be as a slice of life. Just imagine all the classic tropes with the characters going to school, swimming, celebrating the mc's birthday for the first time, going on a vacation to Hokkaido and perhaps having a snowball fight there or an aquarium visit in a classic romance anime!
You can tell Aki's life revolves only in reaching his goal. His apartment is almost spotless, like no one lives there, especially his bedroom, which has only the alarm clock. The first time he has "fun" in his life is when Denji and Power become part of his life. Not even Himeno really changed his life that much. It's heartbreaking. Manga readers will know what I'm talking about.
I dunno, dude puts a lot of effort into his coffee. Expensive goose-neck kettle, hand-ground beans, fancy wooden grinder. That's not an empty life, just a sparse one.
This anime really is just like those vlogs people do of their daily routines; it's just so peaceful and has such beautiful animation. Nothing bad ever happens, it's just such a good anime to relax to. I can't wait till they animate his birthday, it's gonna be so awesome to see the MC be so happy with all his friends!😄

It reminds me of Shingu: Secret of the Stellar Wars. Well, Chainsaw Man is a bit more violent, but at the same time, both are very much about appreciating the every day and the normal in the face of insanity or despair and war.

Mine is just close enough. I don't drink coffee, only tea and warm water. What you consider as mundane is a luxury here. Not many people have the pleasure to brew for themselves a decent cup of coffee for the morning. Most people here would just buy something sth to eat during their way to school/work. Life in general is just too hustle.
In the hustle and bustle of life, with or without devils running rampant, its often the small and simple things that bring us a bit of peace of mind. It can't counter or remedy some of the hardest blows we might take down the road (iykyk), but they give us a means to endure. We can always fall back to simple routine.
Well, there are 2 or 3 chainsaw man short stories, but that's manga. In one of those stories the team goes to a beach on holiday and they just hang out (there's feels at the end tho).
Seeing someone have a routine so close to mine in an anime is kinda surreal ngl. It’s identical to the point of my little brother asking what’s gonna be for lunch the exact same way Denji does. The only difference is that I don’t smoke.
This is truly an amazing touch to the show. Really humanizes the characters and gives us a chance to show them as actual people. You don't need dialogue and epic fight scenes to make a character. I love that you don't even have to watch the show at all and still be able to tell what kind of character Aki is based on this scene alone. Truly masterful.

A slice of life anime with this kind of art style though would be really cool. Most of that kind of genre has very brightly colored, super cartoonish, exaggerated style, but if we got a slice of life with art similar to Chainsaw Man with it's more horror-esque appearance, semi realistic color and lighting, I think that'd be pretty sweet. Just a chill, kinda terrifying looking anime about the daily live of some weirdo and his two adopted teens.

My boyfriend doesn't understand what I'm so excited about when we're watching this anime, I can't help but fangirl every time I see some good quality animation and illustrations, that's why I absolutely love watching ghibli studios movies.

This scene does a great job in showing the contrast between the two characters, yet they found a way here to live together peacefully and in acceptance of each other and their differences
The fact that CSM story takes place in the late 90's, make the environment and scenes cooler. I remember some of the tech and car designs from the show. Aki is brewing his coffee old school. No facy coffee machine. And there is also that about their dates of birth. Dennis would be 43 in the current year, Aki 45 - 46, and Himeno 48.
I think the 90s is a great setting for modern stories in general. It removes the intensley digital aspect of stories that are set in the present without losing the modern feel. It's narratively freeing imo.
This is almost exactly how I started my mornings in college. Just something so peaceful about being in nature in the morning, with a freshly ground cup of coffee

The vibe of this anime is.....shocking. From moments of pure insanity and violence , to moments like this. The music is good , also the silence for scenes like this and the sounds of...things happening (when he opens the door , the sound of wind, the coffee machine). Feels good man..
Honestly one of my favourite moments. Really shows the duality of their lives; one moment risking life and limb fighting demons, the next moment living normal mundane life, humanizes the characters.

My boyfriend doesn't understand what I'm so excited about when we're watching this anime, I can't help but fangirl every time I see some good quality animation and illustrations, that's why I absolutely love watching ghibli studios movies.

@@Oyuki-Mayonesa this anime has a lot of violence, if you don't mind it then it's called "chainsaw man". A few ghibli movies that come to mind when thinking about beautiful animations are "Ponyo", "Howel's Moving Castle", "Kiki's Delivery Service" , but these are anime movies not anime series. The amount of details from this tv show slice of life anime is insane
The fact that CSM story takes place in the late 90's, make the environment and scenes cooler. I remember some of the tech and car designs from the show. Aki is brewing his coffee old school. No facy coffee machine. And there is also that about their dates of birth. Dennis would be 43 in the current year, Aki 45 - 46, and Himeno 48.
I think the 90s is a great setting for modern stories in general. It removes the intensley digital aspect of stories that are set in the present without losing the modern feel. It's narratively freeing imo.

The vibe of this anime is.....shocking. From moments of pure insanity and violence , to moments like this. The music is good , also the silence for scenes like this and the sounds of...things happening (when he opens the door , the sound of wind, the coffee machine). Feels good man..

Honestly one of my favourite moments. Really shows the duality of their lives; one moment risking life and limb fighting demons, the next moment living normal mundane life, humanizes the characters.
Genuinely didnt even know this was chainsaw man until he did his hair, glad the anime seems to have turned out really well

And you will not espect this, especially from an action Media (Where the everyday life is omitted)...
