I love the confidence they have in the grip from the cars ,turn it in and just plant the foot, the mk2's are just fantastic! Nearly 40 years on and still being developed, got to be the best rally car ever .
A mate of mine builds/restores cars, including Mk1 & Mk2 Escorts. They're essentially the same floorpans & suspension. He does a bit of competition too. He says you stand more chance of getting away with rolling a Mk1 than a Mk2 as the more curved bodyshells and thicker pillars of the Mk1 are stronger than the Mk2. Probably a moot point now you can buy new shells for both. Means they can be driven as intended as, like Steve Austin, we can rebuild them.

@sean. With lots of distance and a telephoto lens 300mm no problem and in a secure spot. Not standing next to the road ofcourse or stupid stuff you still see on some rallies. Check the crash off Lappi the mobile phone photograpers standing in that situation. 😵💫🤬😵💫 not real rallyfans but visitors once a event
