Well done on your first float fish caught barbel, especially the one out of the snag riddle hell hole that is the second swim. The same one I caught my barbel on opening day. Was very lucky to get that one out on a 3lb hook length.
Thanks! I am trying to find time to get back and try again! It is a good swim but as you say really snaggy. I am glad I was fishing 8lb line, 3lb would be too much for my nerves!
I love trotting a float with a pin reel but it's something i just dont do enough of unfortunately. I think this video has certainly got me wanting to get out and give it a go 👍👍👍
Well done mate, best way to catch Barbel is trotting on the pin. The benefit of the pin is obvious once you start yo use a pin, no line twisting and it’s so tactile you feel connected unlike a fixed spool reel. New sub from and old Coot, looking forward to more Pin magic.
Awesome video and awesome fish! Barbel seem like such cool creatures. I pin for steelhead in the great lakes and it’s just about the most fun thing ever. Always feel like you’re 1on1 with the fish, and I’ve even had some fish run so hard they bloody my knuckles!
I enjoy your vids and I’ve fished that venue with a centrepin without a float however I took a chance with 8lb line straight through. Some of the swims require12lb line the snags are rife and a rope to carefully get into position on the bank
I was fishing 10lb main to 8lb hook length. I was going to go 8lb straight through but as I make all my stick floats I didn't want to risk losing one if the line snapped above the float. I find the Ouse and Derwent worse for slippy mud banks!
Enjoyed that very much, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
Cracking video, fish on the centerpin is brilliant, loved it, good health and safe travels, cheers craig
Many thanks!
Looked great fun. Well done.
Really enjoy your channel. Keep making the videos 👍
Thanks for watching, glad you like the channel!

That initial run and feeling the power directly through the reel is unparalleled. I've got some other vids to come out, and one on the pin I think....

I would love to give that a go, they look like they fight like crazy!
That new rod and reel worked well dude....Nice one.
I do like Korum stuff....
They made a really nice combo pairing well together.
Brill fishing on the pin well done.
Thanks 👍

Hello, great video. What kind of fishing rod is that please? Thank you.
It's a korum omega float rod.
What breaking strain line? how many yards of line? On the reel .
I'd guess this is near to cowthorpe on river nidd
Had a 9lb fish on the float from the Wye last autumn… unbelievable battle compared to when you get them on the feeder
Well done on yours
It is a fantastic way to catch them. And you are right completely different fight to the feeders.
River Nidd?
Is that Tockwith?
Which bait? Just skipped from intro to hooking the fish
Looked like he was trotting cubes of luncheon meat to me.
Can you still buy tfg centre pin
Unfortunately not... Second hand only now.
Fishing relaxing ??? Right .
