When testing all the different irons, with lofts being adjustable, the consumer really needs to know that when the clubs are designed that the company sets the cg for a desired loft. CG placement is the most important spec. for feel & performance. If the club is set weaker, the face progression moves forward & the cg is lowered, & the bounce is increased. My message is to purchase the irons with the lofts that you desire by fitting. The worst thing is to make lofts stronger than 1 degree standard because it can move cg higher & ruin feel & playability.

Srixon Z585 irons will be No.1 GI iron in Mike’s 2019 round up.

I know the price point for PXGs is very high. Through the Heroes Program they are offering PXG 0311 SGI Gen 2 for $150 a club. Being that a much more reasonable cost, how would those clubs rank for a game improvement iron?

Won’t disagree with the order however I tried the m4 irons and was shocked by them, the felt awful. Settled on a set of g400 instead

Just curious, are the majority of high handicapper players buying game improvement clubs really fixated on the thick top line of the club. I don’t think so. Two things inspire a purchase for them, aesthetics and the potential for a better strike resulting in more distance and accuracy. Glad you didn’t mention the down right “butt ugly” PXG offerings. Totally absent of “looks” !

As I play Taylor Made M1s I guess I am just about a game improver club player. I have tried 4 out of 5 of Michael's picks:
AP1 and G700 are just too big an iron for me - reminds me too much of the chunky monkey SGI irons.
Rogue (normal not the X) was super high launching, long - probably 1/2 club further than my M1s - but the top line is so thick I find it very off putting.
JPX 919 Hot Metal is a hard one, I struggled to hit it well but it is a very nice looking club. Would be happy to play it in 5i but not 7i - I would prefer the 919 Forged even though I think it is a little bit too long from heel to toe (but the straightest flying ball flight of any iron I have ever tried)
M4 is the one I haven't tried but I did try its predecessor, the M2 which was long, high launching but just not functional for me - I just could not get any stopping power on firm summer greens. If I were to change my irons I doubt I would even try it simply because being an M1 player it would seem a step backward. Would be interested to know if the spin rates on the M4 are significantly higher than M2

Whats weird to me here is that most of the irons have a pretty good amount of offset, but you are still pushing your shots. Seems like you would be drawing all of them. JMO of course.

Game improvement irons are a sham. They aren't lofted and have longer shafts. So of course they will travel for days.
