My story of this was just recently! During Wrath Classic our GM's BFF was in our guild as a Deathknight, Mr.DK would get upset anytime anyone poked fun at him, would constantly whisper anyone who won a roll for gear over him DEMANDING that he be given the loot because it was his BIS and he was the best player in the guild. Would say in chat that he could do w/e he wanted because he was an officer and his BFF was the GM. Would say that he deserved all the best loot and it didnt matter what anyone else wanted because the Loot master will just give him everything anyway. Worst person I have ever played with, the whole guild ended up demanding him be removed from the raid group lol. The rest of the guild went on to complete all of Wrath Classic and we are moving into Cata.

tbh i think the biggest problem with most guilds is they do not have a cohesive vibe, they don't evaluate, they don't prune. you need to get to know these people you invite into your guild, and if you don't vibe with them, have the testicular fortitude to remove them.
you can make a guild for any kind of purpose you want, i don't judge. but ultimately you have to take the time to make sure the people you are filling the guild with are actually compatible with that purpose, they have to have the skills, they have to have the schedule, they have to have the temperment, they have to have the personality.
otherwise you're just creating a really shit friends list that generates drama, resentment, and wipes.

CoolGuy did nothing wrong. He was right about not being able to party up with the guild; and the one party he did manage to get into was a funnel party. Also, if he was not cool with being in a funnel group, why keep him in group. He was a disposable member, a filler, a donkey. And your friend lied to the CoolGuy, he was not going to get the ring next in the next run. You a person with experience of the game needed to make a funnel group to get the ring, how is a noob going to get it. Your friend lied that CoolGuy had a chance to have a funnel group of their own just to keep him in the party. Also, if he was a noob, annoying and got in an argument with one of the party members why continue to keep him around. You just kept him around till you did not need him anymore.
You can't gaslight me in believing otherwise. I have been in Guilds, I made guild, I disbanded guild, I remade old Guilds. I have been playing MMOrpg's back when they were text.
Board Games, Role Playing Games, Live Action RP, you name it.
I seen it all.

I have no problem with toxic players being banned, but the people in Blizz behave like children of alcoholics, they ban or silence the person calling out the problem based on 1-2 aggressive sentences rather than getting a full picture.

I don't even play wow. I played eso for years though and had a similar experience. Inviting a random that isn't that good but seems cool. They blow up every chat room none stop at 12am on a Wednesday. People cave in and play with him for awhile but then when he doesn't make it in a run he calls everyone elitist and toxic then crys to the world

we've all met a cool guy. my guild in tbc classic had one. main tank who wanted to swap to dps spec when running raid would take all the dps bis from every character since he was the "tank" when running the dungeon. guild fell apart soon after cause our officers left ship for another guild.
Exactly why i wanted to make this video. A lot of really cool guys out there lol

I’ve had 3 guilds fully disband during df alone everyone who I raided with and made “connections” with all just went out seperate ways and most even deleted off off bnet after the guild disbanded 😂. Definitely dosent fell like it did back in early wow.
Just gotta find the right group! We formed our guild at the end of shadowlands, and mythic raided all the way up to 8/9 this tier, looking strong going into TWW. Its possible, just gotta find the homies 😁

There are a ton of ridiculous people you come across playing WoW. And this guy was probably one of them, but it kind of feels like you guys might have led him on a bit, and used him to a certain extent. I agree with your conclusion that you have to be careful about who you invite, or keep in the guild. But it would be interesting to see the retelling of events from his perspective.
Because if you saw faults in his character, allowed him to stay in the guild and never really tried correcting his behavior, it kind of feels the blame is on your guild for not making it clear what was acceptable or not. If I was in the place of never being able to group with the guild I just joined, and the one group I do get is just using me to fill a slot so they can funnel gear to another player I would also be a little miffed.
unfortunately i was not apart of guild leadership at that time it was a old guild. now a days i would of handled this very differently
