  • He Told Ozzy Osbourne "You Can't Afford This Signed Record" - But The Signature Was Ozzy's Own
    An antique dealer told a tired-looking man who walked into his shop, "You can't afford this signed record." Little did he know, he was talking to Ozzy Osbourne - and the signature was Ozzy's own. This heartwarming narrative tells the unforgettable encounter of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne at a small antique shop in Los Angeles. We've crafted a video that reflects on the deception of appearances, the cost of arrogance, and life lessons that come from unexpected places. Enjoy.

    I'll never forget the one time that I met Ozzy in person. My friend was the limo driver that took him from a gig at the Long beach arena. Ozzy was sitting in the back ready to leave but he took the time to say hello to me at the request of my friend. He spoke to me as if he'd seen an old friend. "Hey man, how's it goin' ". I went on to tell him that I saw him in 1974 at the California Jam and that this was so insane to be sitting in the back of a limo with him. His response was "yeah, I think I remember that gig". priceless!

    but i would listen to the band outside .

    I met Ozzy during the mid-80's, he used to come to Biloxi, MS and stay in the Sheraton on the beach here. They would rig a dumpster beneath the hotel room balcony and unbolt the TV set so he could throw it off. I'm not sure if he ever actually did, but they loved it when they stayed there. He came into the Shell station right down the beach where I worked as a cashier, and bought ALL of the Budweiser in the coolers, about 8 cases, and we loaded it into the trunk of a red convertible he had rented.
    Tipped me and the other guy there a 100 dollar bill each, and told us he was driving up and down the beach giving six packs of beer away to just random people.
    HUGE smile on his face the whole time, laughing like a little kid.
    Also carded Lee Jakey (his real name) on that same tour, the day of the show (they stayed for a week)-thought he was one of the local teenagers, he bought ONE beer, and a pack of cigarettes.

    Pretty funny, right out of college in the mid eighties I managed a very large portable and modular building business. An older guy driving an old pickup truck came on to the lot and started looking around. By the way, he was carrying a small scrap of lumber he grabbed from the back of his pickup when he first got out, and was writing notes on it. Didn't spend a tremendous amount of time looking around, nor did he ask many questions. Within probably 20 or so minutes he had picked out 4 buildings in the 40K range, (total) and was ready to pay. In 1985 dollars, 40K would be worth 125K in today's dollars. I was also delighted I would get a 10% commission on such little work. Four thousand dollars wasn't a bad day's work! Once again, adjusted for inflation, $12K. I was pretty stunned. Went inside, he never even tried to negotiate a better price, (highly unusual) just wrote the check and asked if I could start delivering the buildings today. I said yes, I could probably have the first one there in a little over an hour. He shook my hand and left. Back in those days you could call a bank and make sure the funds for a large check was available. Called, and the gal at the back quickly said, "Oh yeah, he could have added three more zeros and it still would have been good. I had no idea who the guy was, but turned out he owned the 3rd largest ranch in our state at that time. I treated him well throughout the process, although I put almost no effort into making the sell. I just figured he came by to get ideas on how to build his own. Valuable lesson that stayed with me throughout a sales career.

    2:40 funny how he uses the name of one of Ozzy's new songs "Ordinary Man" in his sentence 😂 they'll never be another Ozzy Ozbourne R.I.P.

    I went to a Ozzy concert with my uncle James Yeamons promoted Long Beach arena back in 1979 and dint meet Ozzy Osborne but I didn’t meet his guitar player Randy backstage he had on dolphin shorts and I believe those shorts were most worn by women or girls back in the day. He had on a brown T-shirt cut at the neck and with the sleeves cut off with a pair of thongs with a backstage pass around his neck, very humble and soft spoken man shook his hand. What a pleasure very kind person and my uncle sat me with a sitter in the side of the stage to watch the concert had a blast and grew up to be a Ozzy Osbourne fan. This story is true. But this story of a record shop is got to be some RUclips guy trying to get plays…Oh the guitar player I meet was Randy roads. Never forget that day. No need to lie I was a kid with a uncle that promoted concerts so growing up was pretty cool because I had tickets to almost any concert and so did a lot of my friends from school when I got older. Thank you for letting me share this post.

    This guy has a ton of classic rock memorabilia and he didn't recognise Ozzy?

    • @dathyr1
      @dathyr1 2 months ago +1

      It is possible that someone may not recognize Ozzy in the casual attire he was wearing and wearing dark glasses.

    • @ponytailalogginalong6605
      @ponytailalogginalong6605 Month ago

      @dathyr1I agree. The store owner wasn't just selling rock memorabilia, but knows what rare is. My dad wouldve guessed it was him maybe seeing the letters tattooed on the fingers if he could make them out, but since the story says he went in there alone, not having the reference of anything else going unrecognized by an old dusty shop owner is possible. Still a great story.

    The story is obviously fiction. I’ve got more than four decades in the industry and I’ve met Ozzy.
    That’s not how he spoke.
    I don’t know what copy of the album they’re talking about but I’ve never seen one for $15,000.
