Great story of an LA’s journey into the field. Mine started out of frustration in the first year of engineering, it was a bit boring and in search of a new pathway I stumbled upon to well dressed gentleman at a booth during semester signup and the drawings at that booth caught my eye and my soul. It was full speed ahead from that point onwards. Graduated, started with a design/build firm and got experience right away in designing and construction (including equipment operation) and then onto a career as an LA in federal service. Worked across 5 states with innumerable experts in a wide range of engineering, biological, sociological, and historic fields. Along the way I got licensed and worked on many mega-projects. It was great being a landscape architect, what a ride.
