There are two things I recommend Beauty Break to try. First is the Bliss Mask-a-Peel. Especially for Lily who really likes to peel things, this mask dries to a rubbery silicone-like consistency that feels awesome and is really fun to peel. But after you mix it, put it on fast! It dries pretty quickly (learned that the hard way).
Also, on the make-up side, Lioele Cera-V CC cream is a pretty cool Korean make-up product that you can actively see change color. Seriously test it on your hand. It's awesome but works better on people with fair skin. I think Lily, Meghan, and Joslyn would have fun with those products.

PSA!!!!! The charcoal toothpaste is actually not good for your teeth. It does whiten them but it is too rough on your enamel. It will eat away at your enamel and make the bottoms of your teeth look see through.

Hospitals give you a charcoal drink if you overdose, it helps neutralise the effects of whatever you've taken & makes you throw up. I suppose it makes sense that it should get rid of impurities from your skin as well.

That's why all of the charcoal drinks don't make much sense. If someone is taking medications, it is just going to neutralize the effects of the medications.
As long as you give the medication enough time to get into your bloodsteam it won't
The thing I"m struggling with conceptually, though, is that activated charcoal is a negatively charged thing. The thing that causes (as is currently hypothesized) the most skin damage is oxidative stress/free radicals/O2-. I imagine we would want to apply something positively charged to our skin to give that rogue ion something to bind to, but that's contrary to the current dialogue. If anyone has more knowledge than I, please inform me.

I have super acne prone skin and I got a charcoal face wash. It actually works pretty well and my skin is starting to clear up (bonus I can't use things with chemicals because I'm allergic to lots of the things in acne products so it's a good alternative.)

Ingesting charcoal can actually be really good for you in some cases and totally useless in others as it binds to and removes toxins rather efficiently. I work in the veterinary field and basically anytime an animal consumes something toxic (ie. onion, human medications, plants, etc) we administer charcoal to neutralize the substance. That's why it can help after drinking alcohol, granted it won't help with anything already in your bloodstream, but it can neutralize toxic substances still in the stomach/GI tract. It's also sometimes used in humans to help treat poisoning and drug overdoses for this reason.

I do they exact same thing with my makeup wipes! My roommate use to hate it, so she would passive aggressively throw it away and say "Oh, it was dirty I thought it was trash." When I swear there would only be the smallest bit of eyeliner on it.

Charcoal is amazing. So the reason it's so good at cleaning is because it's so porous. It's often used as a step in purifying water. For instance, Brita filters have charcoal in them and that's what makes the water taste better. The charcoal pores absorb bacteria and macroscopic debris like iron or other minerals that are often found in tap water. That's why you need to replace your filters every so often because the pores become clogged and can no longer remove the unwanted microbiota. 😊
