Dark side of freelancing.
*Potential Client*: Hey i heard from so and so that you do wedding photography and I must say I loooooooo❤❤❤❤vvvve your work.
Photographer: Yes. Here are my rates... (shows rates)
PC: Will you be able to do the 8 hours for free or 80% off? We will give you food and our thanks. Also we need prints as gifts to our friends. The location is 7 hours away from the city. And we're getting married in 3 weeks. It could be a nice experience for you and your portfolio. You can get exposure from us!
Photog: Thanks for your interest in my work, but I would have to decline.
Choosing Beggar Client: Wow such a scumbag. You do not deserve my business! You're not that good anyway. 🤬
Every dickweed thinks you're a great photographer until you show them your rates. Real clients will appreciate your craft. The above example also applies to friends and family members.
Doggo good work ain’t cheap, and cheap work ain’t good....
👏🏻 same happens to me. I’m a food photographer, they want to give me a package of chocolate and exposure 😀😀😀😀😀
LMFAO!!!! You said "dickweed"!!!! I thought I was the only one who still said that! 😁
You have no idea how accurate you are! I got mad reading that example 😂
In my wellness profession I have similar experiences. They will not pay after service done and than later on in time I found out someone is offering the same service as me and also markets the same as me. Even worse! But you cant do anything about, except get angry, express and let it go. Clients return for me, my personality, my work. I know I am special and with that attitude you get clients.
watching a productive guy doing stuff. while iam wasting my time..lol *sad*
Lol same
MAKE YO DREAMS COME TRU
The into was so awesome!! I laughed my ass off. I love when you get creative like that. It's great to see the day in the life. The Meetup with Marco is so fun dude. That's the shit that breaks up the monotony of freelance.
Always appreciate your vids dude. Love the direction of the channel. Keep slaying.
Thanks dude! Yeah Marco is a beast, there’s a lot I can learn from him when it comes to video so I’m sure he will be in more episodes!
Loving the intimacy and transparency of this episode! Forced motivational contents are misleading for creativity. Life is mostly dull and simple. If you can accept and be comfortable with that, real motivation stands out and you do creative things. At least in my experience it works like that and that's why i love this channel.
LOVED this. Would love to see more videos like it in the future. Seeing you get out to shoot after a long day is just the inspiration I need to do the same!
This helps give me more clarity within my own work. I do work a 9-5 and hustle outside dreaming to do the hustle full time, and it feels like i take 2 steps back cause sometimes I'm so tired I don't even want to look at my camera. My days off come and I still don't cause I want to shut off for a day. Most videos I watch everyone says how they nonstop hustled to get where they are and I feel my body would shut down if I went any harder, but then hate myself for not hustling like everyone I look up to. More videos like this I believe will put some creatives at ease and show to just keep going and it will work out when the time is right. Much love from Arizona
Great video man. Motivating. I could say you are my favorite youtuber. Been following for a while now. Thank you for always keeping it real.
Yooo Evan you are the only few channels that I actually watch the whole ad. Love you man keep it up
I like all your content in general because i like your personality, your real and to the point. This type of video was cool to me bcuz it had a vlog, BTS, day in the life, all wrapped in one. I feel like you should keep shooting this type of content if you liked shooting if it wasnt too much to edit clips in post. Also i liked the collab you did with a local creator
Time is a valuable thing - Linkin Park, In the End😍Great video man!
YES! Was hoping someone would drop this!

Lmao . I thought I was the only one thought of LP 😂
watch it count down as the pendulum swings
@@malmcowy watch it count down to the end of the day
Loved the beginning, which is so real as well as the full video 😊
Btw, the unstoppable discussion about customers asking for free photos is never going to end 😅
Evan man you definitely inspire me to go out and shoot! Thanks for the new video
Dammm I can't wait for that photo book to come out! Also great job on the vlog Evan!
Really enjoyed this one. I'd really love to see and hear more about your methods approaches to models and portrait photography. I like that you only work with natural lighting and your portrait stuff seems to always be about bringing attention to a specific product. I don't think I've ever really heard you talk much about it, but it seems to potentially be something you do for Epitome fairly frequently, so like I said, it'd be really cool to hear what you have to say about it.
So excited for the day your photo book comes out ✌🏼
Please do more vids like this. Love the insight and the video itself fire as always
So good man. Always bringing great content. Thank you
I really enjoyed this type of video! Keep up the work my dude
Heck ya, love that your modding the FJ!
Love your content man, I want to be a freelance photographer, so thank for the insight. Subbed👍🏾
So good !!! man really enjoy to watch how normal is everything not over reacting,!!!
the blazers 🤩 also tysm for sharing another sick vid !!
Watching your videos I noticed before that you're into sneakers! Awesome that you did a job for Epitome!
Thanks for sharing this. Really insightful.
It's cool that you're not on that exhaustion as a status vibe. People are out killing themselves at 4:15am to prove they can drink the most coffee by 8am waiting for the rest of the world to wake up, get to their desk, and respond to their emails.
Loving the channel ever since I found its helped with my photography big time, just ironing out the creases and being more efficient but still having fun. Just wanted to ask what was the paper you used to make your photobook?
Love it would love to see this type video! Love from Indonesia 🇮🇩
I can relate to all of this (I am also a full time photographer). Thanks for the non bullshit approach. Pretty refreshing these days it seems.
Fire shots like always!!!
Yea dude! More like these!
Looking forward to that little book! You'll better be shipping it to Europe!

Great video, I thoroughly enjoyed this thanks. :)
Great tips and video bro 🔥🔥
Great video would love to see more !!
Dude that book is looking real sick!
Great video, should do more like this it's interesting!
Killer nice. Great documentary!
My first time watching your video aaaand SUBBED❣️
Huge inspiration Evan 👏🏽 I wanna shoot with you someday also!!
Oh yea dude nice wheel set upgrade!
Great video once again. Really enjoy your authenticity! Also love your creativity! #muchgratitude
Thanks you! Feels good to hear that because I think a real perspective is important on the internet 🙏
Hey! I'm a new subeee.. I can really relate but with a different setting of course coz I'm from the Philippines/Asia. Hope to see more of your videos!
I found this video actually interesting! Thanks for the info. I'm still trying to get my business off the ground. Its such a paradox. Still here trying to fund myself with my 9-5 job. I can't exactly give it my all. Otherwise I feel I would be out of pocket. I feel, I need money to make money. Investing in stuff basically.
Great video! Yes for more "behind the scene" of your day haha keep inspiring
Andres Linardi thanks for watching and supporting the channel!! 🙏
Doooope! Bro need inspiration like this
Mods are the reason I bought a 4Runner. I just lifted it and put some BF Goodrich KO2 A/T's on it. TOYOTA BABY!
Loving the new spec's! B-) Amazing Video
Shawna Fitzpatrick haha I’ve had these for almost a year, glad you like them! Thanks for watching! 🙏
Being an Atlanta guy too, it’s neat to see the town through your eyes. I hope ya boi got his part 107!! Flying a drone in Atlanta??!?
Aye that’s cool to hear! And talk to him about that LOL 😬
That drone sequence was super dope! Props to Marco on that one.. Just curious, what are the drone rules like for flying in the city like that?
There are non until there are some. As far as I know if there's not a no fly zone and you're flying safetly you should be fine
@@felipemvera It's true! When you are about to fly, the application does a good job letting you know if you can fly or not. As long as you're outside any TFR and not flying super close to people, you are fine.
Thank you!
So crazy. Your photo at 3:12. I took a photo like that in Chicago with Fuji's 60mm macro.
Quinn the Cameraman nice!! Thanks for watching!
It was interesting ;) keep it up, bro!
Thats a big ass fish! 5:45 haha great video man! Love you're content bro! Hopefully one day I can get to full-time free-lance ;) Keep sharing the journey
Ayyy you drive a FJ Cruiser!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾. Don’t own one but I love them!
Actually I want to go to sleep, but I can´t because I am watching your vids for hours right now :) great stuff dude, keep it up^^
Down for another one of these forsure
Notification squad at it again! Love the intro btw haha
corbin hamilton haha glad you liked it! Notification squad is the real MVPs!
You are a cute man. I totaly dig your freelance life. I do a lot of different things/activities. I think creating products, services, arts is much more valuable than 2 to 10pm job, but sometimes you gotta do them both to survive.
Cool subject for a video keep'em comin'
Hey so I have a question for all freelancers: Because you are your own boss, you don’t get benefits. How do you deal with covering those expenses when they come up? I’m just curious because I’m just getting into the business of photography/videography and I’m really looking into becoming a freelancer.
Love your work Evan, your so Inspiring. Where can I go to get book of my prints made?
Total side note: Those Method wheels look sick af on your FJ!
yo fun times man! glad we were able to meet the other day - let's create more together 👊
you've done some excellent drone work, really liked the grade as well!
@@MaraldBes Thank you man!
Great video! I am thinking of making one of these.
Quinn the Cameraman do it!
Hey Evan! Question.. does your client work differ from your personal “ Instagram” style of editing?
Keep making awesome stuff
Ivan Gutiérrez Huerta thank you! And I will!
Great video Evan! Are you vlogging with a gopro towards the end?
You're amazing!
Thanks for the video, that drone sequence was awesome!
Awesome! Wish I could get a career like this! :)
Yoooo camping adventure photos with the FJ gotta happen!
Hey. I enjoyed the video. Thanks for the content.
Stephanie Ferrante and thank you for supporting it!!
Hey man im trying to build my first studio, what lighting would you recommend me? Im planning to buy one of Aputures on camera light, but im looking for a soft light. Can you explain to me here in short what the difference between a led sheet and something like the godox sl60 ?or what about those circle lighting? what about the aperture Mini 20d? Would love to hear your recommendations. Also i tried clicking the link for lighting in your description but it doesn't work, my budget is around 300-400$ and should be as travel friendly as it can. gonna go watch your video now, thanks!
This is good. I like this.
Waiting for the behind the scenes video !!!
love your glasses! what is the brand of it? let me know
Hey man, do you have any tips on photographers who are just starting out ?
Damm that photo book 🔥
Nice video, another one would be great
03:44 "Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings. Watch it count down to the end of the day. The clock ticks life away." Pretty sure that's Sartre!
Speaking of the UFC's.... what'd you think about 241? Did you think DC would go down?
Please make a video on how you edit the tone curve
Congrats on the new wheels. Wanna see what's next on that Cruiser. Great video as always man. Where do you send your pictures for print?, I would like to print a nice coffee table book with my own work. Thanks in advance!
I haven’t picked a final printed yet but this test print was done on BLURB!
@@RanftEvan Thanks a lot my friend. I'll check that out. I live in Florida so hopefully they'll do it here for me.
cool hair, also the color
Video idea: Get your hands on a Ricoh GR3 and do a vlog doing streetphotography with it. Would be really cool to see what you can do with that little camera.
Good video indeed!
Awesome video
Do use Photoshop? and if yes, How often do you use it, And what do you do with it?
Liked the video btw. Great content :)
I recently whipped out the old digital camera I got when I was 12 years old. Took 90 photos with it. Now I´m here. Lol.
Yessssss!!!!!!
you say how sometimes you be editing in your office ,does that mean you work with photography in your office and plus what is the office and what do you do there?
Hey, I subscribed not only are you in Georgia too but you make damn good videos. Personally, I think they need to get rid of that guy hosting American idol and put you in there to introduce the singers.
I'm too old to change jobs but if I knew how to make a living with my pictures I would. Just put some on etsy today just to see if people download them test the waters so to speak.
Good job! Your an alright fella.
Can you do a video like this, but rather than being busy your just lazy and watching Netflix all day 😅
Totally kidding. This concept is great. Looking forward to more. Ps. The dark vibe in your creative work is top notch!
I love that photo book, how much does it costs to make a photo book like that ?
You listening to the book I recommended, dope.
Nice vid. Whys the peanut butter in the magazine isle lol
„Time is a valuable thing“ was kind of a Shakespeare dude named Fort Minor
Why is this so accurate 😂
The beginning 😂😂😂🤟🏻
Please please please make the photo book available in Europe 🙏🏼
