That was a great review! Lots of great info, no meandering chat... you clearly put a lot of thought into this! Thank you.
I’m no expert, but the writing problems sound like a feed issue to me. You mentioned modifying your feed yourself, but you can also get third party feeds that are better suited to high-volume ink flow (I think the issue is that plastic tends to be hydrophobic whereas ebonite is hydrophilic). I’ve heard the ones from Flexible Nib Factory are great, though I haven’t tried them myself yet.

Thank you!! I agree that I think it is a feed issue. I have also heard great things about Flexible Nib Factory. That is a great option that I hadn’t even considered. Good excuse to try one out anyway!

thanks for the honest review! i got a version of this pen in march, the TiSiNx w/ultraflex nib, and have had pretty much the same impressions of the nib as those voiced in the video. i knew before buying that the steel pocket pen was too heavy for my liking. you will have a 100% better experience with a titanium or an ultem or an aluminum or a delrin body, as these are all much lighter materials than stainless. i give all the credit in the world to ben walsh for making the bold choice on these flex nibs. if you're not failing once in a while, you're not trying hard enough :)

That is good to know! You can never really tell if your experience with a nib is a one off thing or indicative of the nib over all. I do like the amount of flex and will see if I can modify the feed at all to keep up. The weight of the pen was more of a shock than something I can’t live with. I don’t really plan on carrying it around. The build quality is outstanding though and impresses me every time I pick it up. I also appreciate Ben taking a shot and offering a flex option ◡̈

I just bought this pen in raw copper - I am no fanatic regards fountain pens BUT I love this pen - it has weight, feels great in the hand and writes smoothly -

Now that i have changed out that flex nib to an architect, I am using my gravitas all the time. The build quality is great and it feels so comfortable in my hand. I completely understand where you are coming from! I love the raw copper version!

I am a big fan of metal pens over plastic, though I have my share of plastic (resin) pens, so I was excited to see the great reviews on the Gravitas pens. I chose raw copper over raw brass and couldn’t wait until it arrived. But I was really disappointed because of the weight. I’m a small female and the pen posted is very very heavy and unbalanced in my smaller hand. Unposted, it isn’t quite long enough to reach the end of my hand so it makes for a less than ideal pen to write with. I should have chosen one of the longer Gravitas pens so I could write comfortably with it unposted.
