I was stationed at Osan AB in March 1991 to March 1992. Those were clearly the best days of my life. I turned 21 years old while there. My fellow airmen were like family to me even the NCO's. We partied hard there every night it seems.

It really it a great week though when a surprise notification pops up. So thank you for all the hard work and effort you guys put into your channel. PS: had to laugh at how the apple pie donut was sold out @9:01. So quintessential american lol.
My dad was stationed at Osan from 2009 to 2011 . I remember attending Osan American Middle School at Osan AB, Go Thunderbirs. It was amazing. I loved it. The close knit American and Korean community was awesome. I wanna go back one day but the Navy wont let me.
Hey guys! Loooooong time viewer, first time commenter! My ex was an MP at Camp Humphreys who worked a lot with Katusas and we were there from 2014-2017. I remember visiting Osan so many times for shopping on base and going out to the bars. I wondered what it looked like years later, so I really appreciate this video! Glad to see nothing’s changed! Thanks for the awesome video! 🇺🇸🇰🇷
Oh wow! It’s so cool to see so many people commenting here who were at Camp Humphreys or Osan Air Base! It’s such a cool, quaint area-definitely didn’t feel like Korea! 🇰🇷🇺🇸
What a difference 46 years makes. I left Osan in 1978. The town was called Songtanup. The alleyways were mostly open-air food and spice markets. Park Chung Hee was the President of ROK at the time. Not nearly as Americanized as it is now. I loved Korea and the Korean people. This is a tad overwhelming to see how much it has changed. Thanks for the tour.
I was stationed there in 2002 and then visited a lot when I was stationed in Yongsan in 2006. I recognized some of the streets and Blue Opera lol, but wow I can't believe how much it has changed. I'm in awe. I would love to go back one day. Thanks for this video.
I worked at the ITT office in Osan from 97-02 as a civilian employee. I loved it there. Now I’m back in the states but hopefully one day I can go back. If you ever signed up for any of our tours, we probably met.
dang, I enjoy these military related videos. it's one of my dreams to be stationed at Osan air base. It's on my dream sheet list of places to be stationed. Thanks for the tour of Pyeongtaek America town, from a Canadian born and raised, Korean-American Airman.
When my wife and I went back to Korea (in 2016), to visit her Family in Munsan, I was shocked to see how modernized the city had become! Munsan is small (only about 65K ppl living there), but 90% of all the older wooden structures were demolished, and upgraded to newer buildings! We went to the Ville of Songyu-Ri, which is located a half mile east of Munsan! That’s where I was stationed at Camp Pelham in ‘90-‘91! That place too had been completely modernized, and except for the main strip, NOTHING was recognizable to us! Camp Pelham had been completely demolished, and turned over to the ROK Army! Back in my day, there were GI’s walking around everywhere! All the shops, stores and clubs, were tailored for US Military GI’s! It’s like what Sarah said…Korean Nationals were like a minority in their own village! All that was gone by 2016 when I returned to visit after only a 14 year absence 😱! The Paradise Club was the only structure still recognizable from my youth, that was still operating in its same original site! Even my wife was a little teary-eyed from all the changes that had occurred once my old Army Camp closed down! For me, I was very surprised by the fact that, I was the ONLY AMERICAN walking the streets that day, where there were once hundreds of us that used to call Songyu-Ri our home for 12 months! “Change is the only true constant in life” ~Carl Sagan~
Wow! This was my first base when I married my husband in ‘94! My first taste of Korean food and I fell in love with it 😄 Good to see the streets all cleaned up, all the shops look so shiny! We lived on base and I would go have lunch with friends ‘downtown’ 😍 Left in ‘96…..
That town that you guys visited near the military base was so cute and quaint. I loved it! I hope that you had a good time visiting with your friend. Stay safe and be well guys. I loved all of the murals and the paintings in the alleyways. I’ll even though I don’t like sweet, I loved that there was that donut shop that was cat in outer space themed. So cute. I’m enjoying your travels even if they are local.
I only visited Osan once (to see my military friend haha) but I had a blast, it really did feel like a mini america and I loved the convenience for everything 👌🏻🇺🇸
All the shops with the decorations outside reminded me of Camden Town, London. So interesting to see the cultures mix together. Thanks for taking us there 😊
I was born and raised in Songtan and that “First class club” 2:54 was actually owned by my grandfather back in the days hahaha 송탄에서 재미있게 놀고 가셨다니 좋네요 항상 응원합니다 ❤️

Served at Camp Humphreys back in 1993. Osan AB is one of the places we loved to hang out on the weekends. I was 19 years young and possibly still one of the best years of my life.
Hahaha wow @7:39 on the left was our apartment in NoBless VI, we were there a year ago! So awesome you guys went to Osan, explored and had fun! We miss Korea!
WOW! I wish I could be there next month for the festival. It's certainly going to be fun. That hamburger place reminds me of old-style diners in the US (don't know if you had the same design in Canada)...the little jukeboxes by each booth, the colors, and always the best for burgers.
We were SO excited to see and experience that 50s style American diner! We don’t have any (that I’ve seen) in Nova Scotia at least, so it was a first for both of us-felt like we were in an old Hollywood movie! 🍔
I miss Korea so much. I was stationed in CP. Casey back in 2002. I miss the people, culture, history, and everything that makes Korea a great country. Could you guys hit Itaewon and Hongdae sometime in the future?
So glad you had such a great experience there! :) We were actually just in Itaewon for a little bit last week: ruclips.net/video/sYP__C81sYE/видео.html Hongdae is not really our jam though-all uni kids, so we feel super old 😂
growing up here and graduating high school at osan its crazy to think. that main street of the ville was like a little city because the military kids live just behind those walls and going off base was always the ultimate escape. I miss it!
Thanks to you I ordered my first pairs of Vessi today (I asked my boyfriend for advice on which I choose get and he ended up wanting a pair too lol) We both chose the Weekend Sneakers. They have a Spring sale right now so I couldn't use you code but if we like them I'll be sure to order the Everyday Move that I also want to try with your code. Also thank you for the interesting vlog, seeing all the English signs would definitely make me feel a little better if I was travelling to SK, might add this area to the list if I ever visit one day!
Makes me wish my dad had been stationed in Korea while we were growing up as Air Force brats. But at least I got to live in Germany for 3 years. Fun times! Funny how these sights, sounds, and even smells bring on nostalgia. Germany definitely had its own smell. I loved it.
@@kineko7823 It’s hard to explain smells but I’ll try. For me, Germany smells like warm baked goods fresh from an oven; worn cobblestone streets in a fine misty rain; leather saddles, alfalfa hay, and horses; bratwurst, mettwurst, mustard, beer, wine, and big chewy pretzels; antique drapery, furnishings, and cool, damp castle walls; the warmth of a June day or a fresh snow and whatever they put on the roads to melt it. Remember the very first day you went to school? That school smell of freshly sharpened pencils, paste, crayons, books, and Manila folders? It might be weird but smells can really take me back to a particular time and place, kind of like hearing an old song on the radio that immediately transports you to a specific memory.
@@jlogsdon1540 Very well explained! Thanks for the effort! And I really understand what you mean. That’s true! My smell-memory helped me a lot to remember some things as well.
Greetings from Maryland USA. I enjoyed the tour and was surprised to see Rocky's. There is a restaurant not far from me. It has those 50's vibes when I was a teenager. My mouth was watering looking at those burgers🤣Then I was surprised to see Cinnabon. You can smell the aroma for blocks. I loved to get the warmed Cinnamon bun. Thanks for the memories.
I'm American and this whole video is blowing my mind, lol! Those arcades are like something you'd see on the boardwalk by the ocean! 🤯 It's like someone took like...a bunch of stores and stuff out of the malls and off the boardwalks and dropped them into Korea. It's so jarring, lol! It's really interesting though! It makes sense though, cuz there's a lot of military stationed there so they'd ofc want a "taste of home." I've just like... Never seen my own culture condensed into an area in the middle of somewhere else? Idk how to really explain it?? What an experience!
Well that was a blast. Now l know what my beau has been talking about. He doesn't live that far from there so we can go there when l visit (hopefully later this year). 🇨🇦
I've never been to that area! I went to visit some friends in 평택 and there were just a couple streets we focused on but I would have loved to have gone to this area! An interesting fusion of Korea and America. That's how 이태원 has always felt to me too.
My friend was stationed there and all he could talk about was the Korean food lol when I have the choice, I still pick Korean food > American 🤗 Great video guys
Omg yes Tekken is my game! Spent hours at Disney Quest with my husband playing it. Ended up having a line form for the game because we hogged it for so long 😂
Yay another military video! Very interesting area. The architecture of the buildings is definitely Korea, but all the store fronts totally look like North America haha. Will put that on the check list if we can get back out to Korea someday!
I went to Yokosuka in Japan (back when I still had a valid ID to go shopping), and it felt like America but nothing close to this! Wow! The area just outside Osan AB looks like a lot of fun~ Especially those Cosmic Cat Donuts 😍😍
@@2hearts1seoul well some good, some bad, there were like 200 bars. I did learn to like octopus, as soon as you stepped out the gate there would be an old age Ajumeoni telling you nice young girl come with me. I had an opportunity to work inside of Osan AB a few years back when they were doing rennovations on the Morin Gate. Been to that Rocky burger place, had *hundreds* of aircrafts landing and taking off whilst wokring on the project. Good memories lol
That would seem to be a perfect place for Korean families to experience American culture, food and shopping without flying to the US. And its only a day trip from Seoul.
I can't believe you didn't show the donuts! For shame! 😂 🍩 This place looks cool though. Sad I didn't manage to visit there when I was in Korean. Definitely will have to check it out when I'm back.

Yeah man. I get it I was there 1999-2002 and I still think about it time to time.
I was Red Horse 1983 to 1985 at Osan
So surprising seeing all the soldiers, then, you remember it's a military town. It's good to see everything opening up again and life becomes normal.

I had an opportunity to work inside of Osan AB a few years back when they were doing rennovations on the Morin Gate.
Been to that Rocky burger place, had *hundreds* of aircrafts landing and taking off whilst wokring on the project. Good memories lol
Woah! That must’ve been quite the experience! ✈️ Glad you got to enjoy those burgers too, haha 🍔
I love that there are Detroit Red Wings hockey jerseys for sale in Korea! lol
Haha yes! It was so strange to see, but I was loving seeing all those NHL jerseys there!
So true kyuho we want to eat the opposite foods as I’m Aussie I will want Korean food there!!!😁👍🏻
Ohhh man I love toblerone !!!! 👌🏼
Itaewon has changes so much since the days in late 1990s early 2000s. Last time I was in itaewon pre Covid it was like an Arab Indian town.
It’s changed sooo much in the last 10 years, particularly the smaller side streets! So many amazing restaurants have opened up :)
Oh wow! I've eaten at Rocky's Burgers. Great food.
They were fab! 🍔
That would seem to be a perfect place for Korean families to experience American culture, food and shopping without flying to the US. And its only a day trip from Seoul.
Yeah, it only took less than an hour to drive there :)
Signs are in English.
I can't believe you didn't show the donuts! For shame! 😂 🍩
This place looks cool though. Sad I didn't manage to visit there when I was in Korean. Definitely will have to check it out when I'm back.
We showed them all in the showcase! 😁 We got the Reeses, S’mores, and Original donuts 🍩
@@2hearts1seoul I meant which ones you chose. But now I know, and I can sleep at night. 😂
Those are definitely the ones I would have picked. 🤤
I was waiting for a donut review at the end! But at least here in the comments, I now know which ones they chose. I'm sure they were tasty.
Question which lane do I go through for the Tolls since I will not have a Toll Card? I get mix up sometimes.
So now I want a Cosmic Cat shirt.
🇺🇸 I always thought Korean pizza, burgers, fried chicken e.t.c... was not as greasy! As here in USA.
love how the music choices in this video are 'american'!
from an american lol
Haha, definitely wanted to give that vibe! 🇺🇸😎
Aww this makes me miss Korea. Osan air base had all the good stuff compared to humphreys. I’m glad I can relate to this video a lot.
We were so curious about what it’s like inside the air base 👀
@@2hearts1seoul I’m sure a American military personnel can bring you on post because I’m sure someone is watching that is over there. Definitely if someone can bring you on post go to the commissary to get any American food or beverage you can’t get off post. I was out there 2019 right when Covid hit. So I missed out on a lot. But watched this channel religiously.
Are they still flying A-10 out of osan?
Can regular people go visit that area or do you have to be in the military to enter and roam around?
Absolutely! You just can’t go into the air base itself :)
Is it still called Songton?
Hope somebody can escort me in to Camp Humphreys :( miss the time serving as a KATUSA too!
I (Kyuho) hope this too! 😭
"Juicy patty with Cheesy Cheese" = how american.
Also @ 5:21 I am guessing that plane is an A-10 Warthog
