Thanks for the unboxing, if you could do a side by side comparison with the Fenix 5 with regards to size that would be awesome. I've been close to buy a F5 but got put of by the size(especially the height) of the watch. The V3 looks a lot slimmer which could mean that I finally buy something and not just spend my days watching reviews on youtube.
+h3po4stickis I don't have a regular 5 available at the moment for a size comparison but I will do a 5X comparison up close mainly for design differences. It is extremely similar to the 935 however.

So...just for clarity...are you saying that you would recommend owning a Fenix 5X and a Garmin VivoActive 3? I thought the Fenix 5X was getting all of the same upgrades minus the Garmin Pay due to the lack of an Antenna?

I thought I heard you say you were keeping both. That you would keep a 5X as your main device and that you would also be using the 3. Thus, I assumed that you are thinking that having both devices is acceptable verses one or the other. I think there are many whom have taken to time to visit your site like myself whom really only want to purchase one or the other.
Have you heard that the Fenix 5X will be getting updates that make its indoor and outdoor workouts equal too or superior to the 3?

The straps are 20mm standards with a spring-thingy. I ordered some china-ones that are like the apple-straps (in terms of the lock) because on my right arm the standard lock is a bit uncomfortable while typing. And these days/weeks I have to type a lot... I hope this will be a lot more comfortable.
I'm a bit late to the party, however I've just ordered the vivoactive 3.
I'm wondering if ive received a defective one.
The display is TERRIBLE. Super grainy, looks faded.
The watch itself has a rattle in it as well.
Anyone else experienced these?
Will Garmin pay work in India? Can it work in India or any other place if I buy it from US?

i just bought this watch have a couple of questions.
Do i have to wait untill the baterry dies and then fully charge it?
I connected it to my ihpone 6s with the app and the only bad thing i see is that it takes too much iphone baterry away... any recomendations???
It might be do to your iPhone 6s Battery life you may need to replace the battery since its an older model

No Strava segments is a bit of a deal breaker. Hope Garmin Pay comes to the fenix 6 next year.
Ya, I think that clearly puts the fenix and Forerunners in a category for higher-level athletes. I doubt most people looking for a VA3 would be interested in segments :)

+Brett Wilson Personally, the 3HR. Although it's over a year and a half old now, it's still far and away a more serious activity tracker.

+Brett Wilson All wearable altimeters will suffer after some use and I haven't found the 3HR to have any serious issues. I doubt that software will be updated however it was rock solid for me for the last 8+ months of using it for over a year.
If it wasnt for how damn big the watch was, the fenix 3 would be shipping as we speak.
+Brett Wilson it's not small. If your wrist circumference is any smaller than 200mm, it could be too big.

Do you know what the limit amount that can be spent for the garmin pay is for in Ireland or UK? Can you increase it?

No manual lap option would be a big #fail for this watch. What I have read Garmin are trying to implement this via long press and short press of the button. Have you tried that?
DesFit Same. Read some comments on DCR where there was talk that function might be added via software B4 launch. Doesn't look to me like it happened, maybe in an update.
DesFit you CAN make manual laps in swimming mode, by hitting the button. You do a long press to end the workout. They need to do the same with running.
