But in my opinion, it is not basically Game Modding that do the corrotion, but what is are the business guys, that are zero interested in games, but only in making as much money, they can get away with. Modding communities might increase the risk, but are not IMHO the root cause of it. I just think, even without modding, the greed in big corporations today is a factor that drags down whole industries.
I feel like they have largely given up on trying to squeeze money out of base Minecraft because the mods are just so good. Huge pivot to building other things like Minecraft Dungeons and Legends instead of going over the base game.

Greed is the root cause, and modding is a good scapegoat for pushing greed over quality.

how about total corrosion? look at Unreal and Valve with mods like Counter Strike and Red Orchestra. What do they do now? Just game engines :D
