I have been avoiding this telecast for decades because I feared what it would be without Mary Martin and Robert Preston on hand to perform this beautiful musical. Well, I am so glad that AMTA has released it for us to see. Not only are Lee Remick and Hal Linden totally wonderful, they find their own way into the characters without taking anything from Martin and Preston's original performances. It's thrilling to hear all of the underscoring, dance music, and transitional music that is absent from the brilliant original cast recording. I consider ID DO I DO to be one of the GREAT musicals of the 1960's and possessing another beautiful score by Jones & Schmidt. THANK YOU! (Now, if only the same could be done for 110 IN THE SHADE - with no adjustments, please, for modern sensibilities.)
I remember seeing this when it first aired and have been in love with this gem of a show ever since. Glad to find it here. Linden and are ice were well cast and brought their own distinct take on the roles.
After ""Brigadoon," "Paint Your Wagon," "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn," "Fanny," "Camelot," and "110 in the Shade," the last great R&H musical that Dick & Oscar didn't write. Absolutely wonderful, both leads plus-perfect, the whole utterly correct. Thank you VERY much for sharing this. 💞👏🎶🎭📺👫📺🎭🎶👏💞
This was filmed in my home Rome. Believe it or not Fresno California
