The fact that the whole thing is running on a raspberry pi is both hilarious and amazing to me. Its a great price/feature set. It also does a great job helping me move my projects and ideas off the groovebox into the computer to finish them.
1:47 interesting hack to turn off the speaker. I wonder if Ableton is assuming that you would use move as an audio interface and deploy its speaker or the headphone. There should be a setting to turn off the speaker. Independent, I agree.
Don't disagree with anything you've said here but honestly after using Move for a few weeks, for what Ableton intend it to be I think it's a success. It's easy to use, it's easy to learn all of it's features, it's intuitive and it's quick to get ideas down. Most importantly it's fun which makes you want to use it. It is limited and there are improvements that could be made, but the limitations force you to work with just what you've got and move on to something else, which is exactly the point and why it's quick to get the basic structure of a track down. You can refine it in Live, which is the intention. It's not for everyone but I've used Move way more than I've used my Push in the last few weeks and I'm enjoying it, so for me it's worth it.
I like the MOVE. I think it is an excellent tool for brainstorming ideas and it is suppose to be a limited workflow. Unfortunately, You are not going to like it if you are not willing to embrace its limitations. Your process isn’t as carefree as a your typical daw sessiion and if you are mainly using the arrangement mode, and are not using session mode as part your process, you are going to need to have more purpose and meaning behind your decisions. Still, I would love to see at least 8 tracks per project in future implementations. Thanks for sharing.
A workaround for the key layout is that you can set the layout to Chromatic in the Keys & Scales menu. That way it becomes a whole lot easier to play chords. I would love to see auto warping (complex pro mode) when loading loops that you can toggle on/of.
Audio tracks, at least 4 midi channels, fx on monitor in, but I’m having fun discovering work arounds. Fun lil box. Actually has me working more with ableton
I bought one of their mini keyboards and between the daw configuration issues and the keys too small for my fingers I think I am just going to give it away and let someone else play with it. Basically if you do not have the exact couple of boxes checked in the daw you bought a brick if you can't figure it out. There are no wizards or anything like that, and as you say in your video, people want easier configuration. I thought Ableton would be a nice stepping stone but it wasn't. I will maybe go with something more intuitive or pay for tutoring. Thank you for making your video!
There isn’t an official roadmap as the Ableton Move team didn’t want to publish something that stops people enjoying what is there now. But they did give strong indications, on the AMA on Discord, as to what is more likely to be implemented. So the term roadmap was me paraphrasing.
Selecting the note length via the scroll wheel is so cumbersome. Why can’t we just press the start and end point on the step sequencer just like on push. Also double tap the play button to kill all playing sounds is pretty much a must have if you’re working with longer samples. Other than that I relly love this little machine. It just works like my brain does and for starting songs which can be finished in live it’s just perfect.
Not complaining but I think Ableton live intro is 16 tracks i say give us 8 on move and we're happy haha anyway that last "limit your self with 4 tracks and see what you can do" got me thinking and my mind started me giving Ideas for my own tracks then i realised that i dont even have move i use push 😂
Really interesting "bugs" here 🤔 I'm a huge fan of working with Push 2 in Ableton and was really excited for Push 3 and really curious when Move was dropped. Overall, they both missed the mark on some things I'd personally want in a standalone and/or groove box. I'm just gonna keep an eye on any updates. In the meantime I've learned to love the MPC, even though I'd LOVE to have Drift in a standalone unit 😢 Haha.
An update with Sidechain and Chord mode will probably be the last straw for me to buy this! Currently messing with my new P6 and it's super cool but the menu diving is alooooot.
I've just been using ableton note since move came out. it's been really fun and has up to eight tracks ... that's the secret move upgrade if you have an iOS device.
Please, Ableton, listen to TAETRO! He knows, what we want!😎 And - please add the possibility for bi-directional Midi and let us record Midi on one track and send it out to a connected external device!
Ableton have admitted that the midi implementation is “bare bones”. So I’m expecting a fair amount of work in this area, which will be great to see. I’d love to see an additional 4 midi only tracks to sequence external gear. So fingers crossed.
@@owizlo push should have one too. As far as where, what use do the sequence buttons have in the session mode? Zero use. They’re basically unused. So you can select several clips, then press sequence step one to lock that arrangement in as the first part. When holding step down, turn jog wheel to choose how many X each part should repeat before advancing. Then shift / play to play back arrangement.
@@owizlo That’s why I’m saying it could be an app extension. It keeps the move as an “idea” machine, but gives the freedom to stretch those ideas into full songs. That way you also keep things mobile without having to go to the computer every time you want to expand on the music ideas the move creates.
@ the point of move is to get more buyers of live standard edition. i dont think they will. if arrange comes to push 3 i would then see it as a possibility. but hypothetically everyone wants arrangement view. i bet we get it with push 4 or move 2 at the soonest
You should do a whole series on this subject ! I can't wait for the " Circuit tracks MUST BE FIXED". Also for the Rhythm.
Nice thumbnail btw

This year deserves a video by taetro with released gear tier list

+1
Template? Make a “template”
project and copy over to a me pad 🎉
They already said in a recent Q&A they won't do more than 4 tracks. I'd love some perform fx.
4ths layout ia what we want for playing melodies and chord progressions. I'm surprised they haven't implemented it in the first place?
exactly!
@@Taetro Thankfully this is high up on the Ableton Move roadmap. So I am expecting this to arrive.
What software do you use for your videos?
I’m thinking if they gave us the option to choose a “variety” of track “types” ie: audio track, more devices…that would be kinda major
How do you pitch bend? I see nothing in the manual

I wonder if an iPad with Ableton Note and the latest Launchkey Mini would be comparable to the Ableton Move.
Yeah we seriously need the Push style note arrangement style please

would be amazing improvements, especially chords, and playing shapes like on the push
I would like to see bank buttons, like track 1-4 bank A. and track 1-4 bank B. that would be awesome.

Yes,,,I've been dreaming about the 32 step sequencer swap as well
it makes sense
IMO The first thing what they should fix is to remove that ridiculous 32 set limit :/
have you filled all the sets?
GIVE US TIMESTRETCHING……
….as for your long samples, i believe you can play up to 4 minutes from a pad as long as it’s set to GATE mode.
What an over sight lol 1:47 😅

The speaker issue is so annoying.
Yeah
✨
Arrangement mode and audio clips are CRUCIAL.
Or even a Note update or separate app all together that allows arrangement. You could bounce your loops through cloud.
push 3 doesn't have arrangement and where on move will you put it. on what screen
