great video, though I see two possible improvements: 1. you are missing an Underwater Oxygen Upgrade for a complete setup. 2. it's better to place your upgrades in a square pattern rather than a line or L shape. that is because every upgrade is checked individually... some example: o o o o that's four upgrades of the same kind placed side-by-side. how many other upgrades of the same kind touched the first one? 1. the second and third one? 2. the fourth one? 1 again. so that's a total of 6 bonus effects. now if they'd have been placed like this: o o o o then all four of them would touch 2 upgrades of the same kind, totaling 8 bonus effects.
Note that the more sides touching each tech/upgrade, the better. A square of four is better than a line of four because in a square, all four tech/upgrades will have two sides touching, but in a line, the two ends will only have one side touching. So take the five movement tech/upgrades in your tech slots and create a square with them, with the B-class upgrade as the 5th sticking out from the side...Also make sure one of the S-class upgrades is in the center of the 3-long stretch.
I have done tests on the extra cold , heat, rad etc modules Each module of three upgrades gives you 4 minutes of protection. When you have three you will see three boxes above your hazard status bar. when charged you will see a thin white line that descends from the top of one box at a time notifying you of how much charge is left on that module. I have 3 s class modules of each protection type and I get a total of 12 minutes of protection at maximum hazard extreme. It is very handy for collecting storm crystals and for waiting at a trade post for ships to land.
Jason Plays , could be a bug because in the UI shows 2 or 3 when installed but works only one of them, my exo could really use them as my base planet temps are constant 70C, in the same time I am not complaining because I have more free slots, Imagine fill all the environmental protection with 3 each...no more working inventory space.

drop pods arent worth it anymore, in my opinion at least, no point in wasting the time or resources to fix it before using it when you can just warp systems and pay right away at a space station instead of having to fix it first
i dunno if you actually need to pay anymore since you need to fix the drop pod, but even so from what i remember the last time i saw a drop pod the requirements were almost as steep and time consuming as repairing a crashed ship, no way am i gonna waste time and resources on that when i can just find one at a space station
I disagree! I have only been to around 8-9 systems so far, exploring the planets pretty thoroughly. The cost from the stations increment higher each time, and exponentially higher for the high capacity. The few resources needed per drop pod I carry around a bunch already! I use the stations for regular storage slots, since they're only 10k higher each, and drop pods for the extra storage. Resources I pick up for free, and I spend *FAR* less units!

If you have multiple protections itll go through one, then the next, then the next, etc until the extra ones run out. Itll show a little icon above the bar for each extra protection bar you have. Its still barely worth having more than 1, you can just refill it infinitely when it runs out, but it does work to have more.
Now that we can move some slot around that we haven't been before this update are you gonna make an updated video ? Is it needed? can you min/max better being able to move the modules we weren't able to?
Yeah, that star seed and remembrance bonus is interesting. Not sure what that does for sure either. Worth looking into. So hard to tell what they are trying to keep a secret and what is still being worked on after the NEXT update.
I got one more question so I’ve visited 20 plus space stations and haven’t found a single hazard protection module for the cold. Is there a bug or was it removed?
@@fletchren you can read the description of the upgrade prior to installing (or buying) which is important on the thermal upgrades. One set states they help with sub-zero temperatures, the others with overheating (or words to that effect). One set shows a flame, the other a snowflake. Obviously take care reading as its too late once installed. Hope this helps.
I also tested the time on 1 hazard mod versus 3. I measured the time it took to go from a fully charged mod, down to 10% of your basic hazard protection. In both cases, it took exactly the same amount of time (around 10m 30s).
I agree that it HAS to be a bug. Not only do they show up above the hazard bar, but they also show up in the recharge quick menu... But, they never deplete and therefore can never be recharged. So yeah, something is not quite right with them...
You know, the thing i wonder is whether or not there is a higher grade underwater module than B class. You would think it goes higher than that like other protection modules do, but i have never seen higher than a B class
When I'm jetting around it using no fuel. Same for running. Plus I can run and use my jetpack for longer periods without getting tired or overheating. I'm on foot a lot exploring planets so it helps to move faster and farther
For some reason i cant get my s class shield module bonus. No white line?? Am i installing the wrong one? Shield module? I have a "nanite polariser" above the shield lattice with no white line.
New guy question, I started adding stuff just randomly so I need to start over once I get all my spots. If I remove modules I bought (S type) can I rebuy them? They are grayed out after I purchased so does breaking them down allow me to rebuy?
Actually you can buy as many as you want. Most shops usually only carry 1 in their inventory, so that is why it greyed out. If you wait 2 hours ( i think ) they will restock and you can buy that module again. What I do is I buy every module I want at a station, keep track of what is at that station, then warp to another system. That new system will have more modules. Sometimes the same ones, maybe a couple different ones. Just travel from station to station and buy the modules you need.
Pre next saves are fine as I got my save on the day of release 2 years ago and I only got 48 slots and 14 technology yesterday as I haven't been playing for a while. My cargo inventory isn't max yet but pre next saves are fine just to let you know
I see the name of the modules you have are different names then what I have but the are the same type (Like S type thermal and S type Toxic). Is the names just RNG?
Yep, names and stats are RNG. the stats will be generally close to the same. I spent a ton of time trying to min / max stats but honestly it's only for like at most at 5 percent gain
0:42 that tip is well known, how to get more slots, buy then or look for drop pods, I've got all the stuff to repair all drop pods, but ill watch you vid anyway.
I found about 8 or 9 drop pods across two or three planets last night just by flying along a northern heading and scanning for buildings. I assume a recent update caused this but they all appeared to have the same requirements to obtain a slot, your games may be different requirements than mine due to procedural generation, they are worth repairing if you are limited on credits. If chromatic metal is your choke point build indium drive and travel to a blue star with a few planets and farm activated indium as well as indium. Activated yields 4:1 chromatic. Then using chromatic and regular indium you can generate indium in excess in a large refiner. Infinite chromatic generation to pay drop pods for upgrades. Saves millions of units instead of jumping and buying a slot. Happy hunting travelers!
I find that having 3 of each shield is worth it in my experience, for I would go off and get lost in doing something not realising my Shields are gone, however the Shields are used 1 at a time so if you have 3 it gives you more time to either run to shelter or find materials. This is all my personal opinion. If I am wring please correct me thanks.
I have three of each on mine and depending on the conditions all three show up on my screen. And I have to refill all three of them up when they are depleted
Anyone else running into the issue with 3 life support modules? It looks like the game is treating the standard Life Support as an add on. So if I build the grid like Jason has, when I add the 3rd life support module it says it’s overloaded and I have to delete one of them. I’m on an XBOX One X, so not sure if it’s a console build problem or what...
So far, as of 1.58, technology slots are fixed for pre-Next save. It work on mine. Regular slots was 48 slots already, before the Next update. Cargo slots are still an issue for my pre-Next save. I was max at 25. I can get more, but some slots are disappearing when I try to get the 26th.
can you tell me what is the best way to find or look for drop pods faster, I'm use a hover vehicle with a adv scanner, I fly around and land a random and call my hover vehicle and scan, when i do find a drop pod, its 5,12 away and it take ages to get to it using my hover vehicle.
Interesting that only one of each protection works. You can't put three thermals or radiations in a row like before NEXT. I thought it was just my game at fault. The thing is in the HUD on a planet you still see the three protections there but only one of them gets used. Either showing all three in the HUD is a bug or them not being used is a bug. I sent a report to hello games. I hope they adjust either one or the other factors as it is annoying to see all three there on the HUD when two don't help.

i figured it out. gosh.. ok i had to go up the stairs to where the upgrade vendors are. then walk to the far end where the exosuit vendor is. behind him is a hologram you mentioned. i had to approach it close enough to use the action key 'e' (pc game). then i was presented with an option to buy a slot. ...done. thank you for at least getting me in the right area.
What you want too do is have the star seed and remembrance next too them 3 s class shields in your exosuit technology like I have then there all have a white bonus outline next too them jase 👊
Jason Plays I pressume so because the shields are the only ones that get highlighted white same border outline colour that the star seed and remembrance seed have touching together but don't quote me on it, I've got 3 s class shields touching the star seed and remembrance seed and there all white borderlined mate, all 5 of them.
I dislike inventory slots which are disorganised and unassigned. I wish they have specific slots for your exosuit upgrades, materials, etc.... It would feel much cleaner and easier to understand.
They do kind of Chris Churchill. The tech area is just for tech, but you can get a big boost if you use your general inventory for tech as well. You are just sacrificing that inventory space for tech rather than materials.
Are you still responding to this vid? I gotta ask, had you placed your three s-class upgrades adjacent to your base jetpack in and of itself, would it have provided further bonuses?

@@michaelkey9549 unless they change it in a future update, the jetpack, life support, and hazard protection are fixed in the top left corner of your exosuit inventory and cannot be moved. So, there is no way to place jetpack modules in which they touch the jetpack itself.

If you have a game you started before the major NEXT update then that's probably why. There is a weird bug that doesn't let you get the maximum number of slots. Hopefully they are patching that soon.
i think it's funny how all these vids about best setups dont take into account new players that might have started that have to earn nanites at a slower rate(for the S-Class upgrades). Cuz i think the recent update doesnt allow for duplication glitch for nanites anymore so we have to earn then slower while most people can buy however many s-class nanite things they want cuz so many people just duplicated till they had like 90k+ nanites.
The word you are wanting to know is *orthogonally* . It means to be at right-angles to something else. (The opposite of diagonally) the Rook in chess moves orthogonally.

I had four fire protections one crafted myself and shield lattice idk how but it had infinite hazard protection I move stuff around and now I'm mortal again Q.Q
Your wrong, they do stack and they do work. It slows down the drain on the system. You have to have all three to see a difference. And one works after the other. Once one is drained and you don’t fuel it, the others slow down the time. It works.
It didn't work for me man. I tried 1, 2, and 3 all stacked together. They showed up on the meter but nothing changed. I still started losing my normal hazardous protection in the same amount of time. It wasn't slower to drain no matter how many I had.
How to Get Max Exo Suit Slots and Make MILLIONS of Units | No Mans Sky was not good, he kept buying slots from the space station, pod hunting is much better, I use oxygen and chlorine to make my money.
Good info. Do multi-tool setup next. I'm thinking about dropping boltcaster altogether because of the stupid ricochet and going with something else, maybe Blaze Javelin and Plasma Launcher. But I'm a broke casual, so it takes time for me to experiment if they're worthwhile.
I don't like the Blaze Javelin you have to hold the button to charge it up for one shot, it doesn't use ammo gets recharged like mining laser hell it is a mining laser. Scatter Blaster does the most damage at close range. Pulse Spitter is the one you want. Plasma Launcher is great but being on the right mouse button just be prepared for accidental death, I'm considering remapping it or running it dry till I need it. Plasma Launcher is great at taking down those doors fast just hold the button until it pops the door, 5 or 6 shots. Match both with their 3 S mods and you are unstoppable.
I actually love the boltcaster actually. The pulse splitter is pretty epic as well. The key is to either buy a ton of the S modules so you can get one without the ricochet, or dupe them man. I went through a ton of modules, like 10 or 15, to get 3 without ricochet.
Plasma launcher is amazing and I only have two upgrades. I can kill walkers no problem. I have an A 24 Rifle at the moment until I find something better. And it wrecks

You are still using 2 extra slots thought for some minor convenience.
The extra time without refilling can help. I usually run with 2 of each just for the extra time.
I concur with that and it depends on personal preference if you want to use slots doing it.

Best rule I know of is place them next to each other, the more sides touching the better. You want to make squares and not straight lines

No it's there, but super hard to find. For me the cold protection and the underwater protections are super hard to find

Neither have I. That's why i generally ignore it. I don't spend much time under water, so the basic setup is fine for me.
S class ones are found in the wild. repair the damaged machinery and one will eventually pop up.

Oh, the shield lattice is for the hazard protection. Little confusing with the names, hopefully they fix that

I have an underwater protection module saved up in my freighter. Would the same rule apply to that as it does for the other elemental shields?

I find that having 3 of each shield is worth it in my experience, for I would go off and get lost in doing something not realising my Shields are gone, however the Shields are used 1 at a time so if you have 3 it gives you more time to either run to shelter or find materials. This is all my personal opinion. If I am wring please correct me thanks.
That is exactly what I do man. With those shields you are basically invincible.

Anyone else running into the issue with 3 life support modules? It looks like the game is treating the standard Life Support as an add on. So if I build the grid like Jason has, when I add the 3rd life support module it says it’s overloaded and I have to delete one of them. I’m on an XBOX One X, so not sure if it’s a console build problem or what...

So far, as of 1.58, technology slots are fixed for pre-Next save. It work on mine. Regular slots was 48 slots already, before the Next update. Cargo slots are still an issue for my pre-Next save. I was max at 25. I can get more, but some slots are disappearing when I try to get the 26th.
I have had a few dudes that still have the same problem. Maybe it depends on the age of the save?
Correction, not all constucted tech doesn't count. Constructed tech counts at least in the multitool

You are gonna have to destroy and start over. You can break your modules into parts and then buy news ones to place where you want to.
the upside to this is you get resources for all the items you break down.
can you tell me what is the best way to find or look for drop pods faster, I'm use a hover vehicle with a adv scanner, I fly around and land a random and call my hover vehicle and scan, when i do find a drop pod, its 5,12 away and it take ages to get to it using my hover vehicle.

Interesting that only one of each protection works. You can't put three thermals or radiations in a row like before NEXT. I thought it was just my game at fault. The thing is in the HUD on a planet you still see the three protections there but only one of them gets used. Either showing all three in the HUD is a bug or them not being used is a bug. I sent a report to hello games. I hope they adjust either one or the other factors as it is annoying to see all three there on the HUD when two don't help.
Me too man. I kept seeing all three pop up so I thought maybe it was where it was placed, or something with my save. Nope, they just don't work the same as before.

each station only has 1 slot to buy. its on the right side when you exit your ship. its a hologram of you backpack

ok i had to go up the stairs to where the upgrade vendors are. then walk to the far end where the exosuit vendor is. behind him is a hologram you mentioned. i had to approach it close enough to use the action key 'e' (pc game). then i was presented with an option to buy a slot. ...done. thank you for at least getting me in the right area.

What you want too do is have the star seed and remembrance next too them 3 s class shields in your exosuit technology like I have then there all have a white bonus outline next too them jase 👊

I dislike inventory slots which are disorganised and unassigned. I wish they have specific slots for your exosuit upgrades, materials, etc.... It would feel much cleaner and easier to understand.
They do kind of Chris Churchill. The tech area is just for tech, but you can get a big boost if you use your general inventory for tech as well. You are just sacrificing that inventory space for tech rather than materials.
Are you still responding to this vid? I gotta ask, had you placed your three s-class upgrades adjacent to your base jetpack in and of itself, would it have provided further bonuses?
Unfortunately, you can't place them next to your jetpack because it is blocked in by other technology.

@@michaelkey9549 unless they change it in a future update, the jetpack, life support, and hazard protection are fixed in the top left corner of your exosuit inventory and cannot be moved. So, there is no way to place jetpack modules in which they touch the jetpack itself.

Have you tried to get more slots? Some people are telling me that it has been patched, but some others say not yet.
It was patched 2 updates ago on PC not sure about consoles.
Im stuck with 12 technology slots and I just bought the game a week ago.
I can only get my High Capacity (cargo) Inventory up to 25 slots...you have 48!
If you have a game you started before the major NEXT update then that's probably why. There is a weird bug that doesn't let you get the maximum number of slots. Hopefully they are patching that soon.

i think it's funny how all these vids about best setups dont take into account new players that might have started that have to earn nanites at a slower rate(for the S-Class upgrades). Cuz i think the recent update doesnt allow for duplication glitch for nanites anymore so we have to earn then slower while most people can buy however many s-class nanite things they want cuz so many people just duplicated till they had like 90k+ nanites.

Your wrong, they do stack and they do work. It slows down the drain on the system. You have to have all three to see a difference. And one works after the other. Once one is drained and you don’t fuel it, the others slow down the time. It works.
It didn't work for me man. I tried 1, 2, and 3 all stacked together. They showed up on the meter but nothing changed. I still started losing my normal hazardous protection in the same amount of time. It wasn't slower to drain no matter how many I had.

How to Get Max Exo Suit Slots and Make MILLIONS of Units | No Mans Sky was not good, he kept buying slots from the space station, pod hunting is much better, I use oxygen and chlorine to make my money.

Good info. Do multi-tool setup next. I'm thinking about dropping boltcaster altogether because of the stupid ricochet and going with something else, maybe Blaze Javelin and Plasma Launcher. But I'm a broke casual, so it takes time for me to experiment if they're worthwhile.
I don't like the Blaze Javelin you have to hold the button to charge it up for one shot, it doesn't use ammo gets recharged like mining laser hell it is a mining laser. Scatter Blaster does the most damage at close range. Pulse Spitter is the one you want. Plasma Launcher is great but being on the right mouse button just be prepared for accidental death, I'm considering remapping it or running it dry till I need it. Plasma Launcher is great at taking down those doors fast just hold the button until it pops the door, 5 or 6 shots. Match both with their 3 S mods and you are unstoppable.

I actually love the boltcaster actually. The pulse splitter is pretty epic as well. The key is to either buy a ton of the S modules so you can get one without the ricochet, or dupe them man. I went through a ton of modules, like 10 or 15, to get 3 without ricochet.
Plasma launcher is amazing and I only have two upgrades. I can kill walkers no problem. I have an A 24 Rifle at the moment until I find something better. And it wrecks
