Formally, it is three separate high-speed line - original Rome-Firenze (3kV and 250km/h), amazing Firenze-Bologna (mostly in tunnels) and then Bologna-Milano in the plains of Northern Italy. This direct Rome-Milano non-stop service is very special, though in the future Firenze will also get a separate thru-running high-speed (AV) station and tunnel bypass.
@zzelen this new part of the line in Firenze will reduce the travel time even more. I read that on January this year they launched a non stop train between Rome Tiburtina and Milan Rogoredo with travel time 2h45min.
@@RailRelaxation Yes, lots of time is lost getting out of Rome and into Milano, this is where most time savings can be found. Speeding up from 250km/h to 300km/h does not bring as much benefits as avoiding slow sections with speeds around/under 100km/h.
@@RailRelaxation Well, if you count this one between Tiburtina and Rogoredo, it would also be around 2:45 (or even slightly less). However, if the train could run the whole route at maximum allowed speed, it would shave off at least 10 minutes of travel time. Unfortunately it often has to slow down because of other slower trains, especially between Rome and Florence, where the line is also used by intercity and night trains (which don't go any faster than 200 km/h) and between Valdarno and Florence also by even slower regional trains, as they also use S. Donato tunnel (if this hasn't changed recently). All the area around Florence is a bottleneck.
The railway Rome-Milano is really a prodigious of the engineering. It is unbelievable that the part from Firenze to Bologna is practically all in tunnels and viaducts.

@paolomarchetti8523 for sure to build such an infrastructure it takes a lot of time and money. But once it is done, the distances seem way shorter. 3 hours from Rome to Milan is just great.

Obviosly the Italian project is incomplete and most probabily will always remain that way, high speed is not viable if the people are not willing to pay the higher ticket prices.
maintenance costs increase esponetially with the increase of speed.
Amicalement.
@xavierthomas8311 😄
Thank you!
You're welcome!
@funiviadada thank you for your comment.
Very impressive. Puts our HST'S into the pale by a long way.
beatiful video !
@davidemontella8465 Thank you! Cheers!
It's fantastic. I write from Hungary. The most railway lines from Hungary: x < 120 km/h. Hungary is 100 years behind Italy and West Europe.
@zoli011 thank you for your comment.
Hungary as all East Europe grows the cutest girls of the continent, what more do you need??😂
@giovannifinievoli8825 Grazie.
So amazing, beautiful Journey
Thank you for watching.
@@RailRelaxation very good
@paolomarchetti8523 for sure to build such an infrastructure it takes a lot of time and money. But once it is done, the distances seem way shorter. 3 hours from Rome to Milan is just great.
Fantastic! Nice camera placement. Very nice sound also
