Man, you got a lot of weight stacked up there. I'd be wondering if the lower cabs might deflect over time. Plywood isn't steel. Yeah, Splawn! I have a QR 50.
Funny enough, I've thought the same but I know other guys who have the same stacked heads and it's fine. I guess if someone lives in a very humid area, like Florida, the wood would eventually give but it's fairly dry in New York. : ) And YES! I love my Splawn!! What does your QR say on the inside? Have you ever looked? Scott Splawn used to write notes inside his heads. : )
Great vid! I’ve been loving my 2011 Splawn Quick Rod. That being said, speaker choice for the QR in particular has been an uphill battle, finally found the Creamback M65 and Scumback J75 combo along with 2 V30’s in my 4x12 to sound massive! Subscribed…
Yes speaker selection is key for this amp. I have two Splawn 4x12's. An original 2004 with Eminence Governors and Man O wars in an x pattern (xtra thick grill cloth tames those highs) and a 2010 cab with Splawn small block speakers. When I first got the amp I put it through a 4x12 with vintage 30's and those high mids of the amp were ripping heads off lol. Creambacks are a good speaker for this amp for sure! 🤘🤘🤘
I just use a 2X12 with 16 oh 75 watt creambacks and mine fucking screams at 50 watt power and running the head at 8 ohms. I have a 4X12 and possibly looking to pair the creambacks with something else. Might take some of these suggestions
@@matthewlewis281 That sounds like a good idea going with the 8 ohms. I believe some of the highs are rolled off a bit at 8 ohms. I'm think about pairing the H75 Creambacks with the Eminence Governors in mine.
Bro, it's one of my all-time favorite Marshall variants. It's ridiculous, whether you want to use a pedal or crank the voicing to beast mode. A few guys told me it's basically the Friedman BE100 with minor differences between them.
@@louistorres I like the fact that it sounds like you can have it cranked to hell and then just roll off your volume a little and get a more controlled tone..a metal af/rock n' doom machine in one box" Karl Sanders of Nile has the same amp and he loves it!!
@@louistorres it really sound nothing like the BE100...I own the Quid Rod and it's fantastic but sounds very different to the Friedman. Whoever told you they are similar really doesn't know what he's talking about.
@@louistorres Thanks man! That head sounds so good even with the Tube Screamer pedals. I have an old JMP 2203 that I don't want to play shows with anymore and I've been looking at the Splawn as a replacement. I think it'll be perfect. Also, killer resume of bands. I still listen to Indecision and Merauder.
I own (2) Splawn quick rods Love them !! Dude awesome review!!!!!
You have TWO!!! That's awesome bro, now I know why! Literally blew my mind away! Such a SUPER great amp!
I also own a Spawn Quick Rod 100 watt head and love it. Very heavy tones.
I'm glad you have one! It's crazy that more guys don't own this thing. It's like having three different amps in one.
I have a 100 watt pro stock ordered direct from Scott has mid cut old new voicing and drop b+ same as quick rod just has no clean side

Nice addiction, I mean addition to the collection brother!
Hahahaha! I'm a little crazy, not gonna lie

Still loving the Quick Rod bro?

@@mhoff7722 I think that would be epic man. Leave a comment on how it sounds if you ever do it
Sounds killer
Also did you know the footswitch gives you access to the od1 and od 2 that each channel gives you.
Has Fluff (riffs beards and gear) seen your wall(s) of amps?!?!? My goodness.
Yes sir. :) Won five beards in a Rate My Rig episode. :)
@@louistorres Anything less would have been unacceptable. Glad you submitted it.
Hey bro sign up with the heavens gate. 🤣
That Splawn is sick my dude..

You know I want to hear it with the SD1 boosting it🔥🔥🔥💪🔥🔥🔥

Sick !
It's a hugely underrated amp.
Dude, I thought their would be cake. I have always wondered what happens if I plug my amp in to cake. I guess we will never know.
Shit! I love this amp!!
I saw Terror in a tiny little place around '14 or '15! Opener was Code Orange Kids. Terror was AMAZING! COK was atrocious, nothing personal.
I've never heard of Code OK but I'll Google them now! You are ya best Rhonda!!!!!
@@louistorres They go by just plain “Code Orange” now. I appreciate the kind words!🙏🏼
It looks like a TACO!!!!!
Holy fuck 🔥
Hey, so what is the secret pedal?
It's the Darkwrench.
