Quite amazing. Great idea with the little rake. He's looking better already, Graeme. I love that he came up behind you. He really is such a gentle soul. Have a great day.
What a good idea to use the rake!!! He doesn't have to feel like he is being encroached on. He does seem to be enjoying the scratches. These are all great things to show him that people are good and not a threat. I am so proud of his conduct so far. No aggression at all. Very little fear, he just reacts if movement is too fast. All is going wonderful. So glad to see him calm and excepting. So encouraging.
Well look at that. What an awesome way to get close to a horse without getting close. 👍🏻 Another Gracie who will follow you around as his personal grooming buddy. Unless he really bonds with another horse for co-grooming. Gracie still hasn’t quite found her buddy. Maybe they will be a good pair. He’s a lot better for touching around his head an ears than Gracie ever was. 👍🏻❤️
Gracie has been doing a lot more cogrooming with Lena and Ohana actually. Not quite as good as the others are at it, but she's learning. Yes, this guy is already better than Gracie for ears.. She must have had something really bad happen to her as I still struggle to get that out of her, and then she'll go a bit where she's ok, then it's back again...
I was so happy to see him letting you get close and work on his right side which seems to be more sensitive to him. Using the little rake was brilliant. He is a cool horse. I love the dark tips on his ears. His coloring is lovely.
It was pretty amazing to see how he let you do his left side! He’s a sweet horse and I so enjoy how kind you are to all of them! Thank you! We would have had a rodeo if the rake was truly stuck!
🌟🌻 I always use the small rakes, like you used in this video, to brush my horses and even my dogs & pig LOVE💕 it too. The best thing about the small rakes, it is so easy to reach all over their body.🌻🐴
I don't think he'll be missing digging through 4 feet of snow for something to eat anytime soon.Your calm and kindness is nice to watch. Also whatever you end up naming him he'll be a Gordon in my mind lol.
For those who are cruel to any Animal should be dealt out the same cruel measure in return and maybe they might then come to know what crulty is! My mother used to say ---if a person is cruel to an animal that person will also be cruel to you also. And ive many times found that to be so.
Looks like I might be fostering a 5 month old Wildie for the summer. I’m sure my fjord will make sure he learns some horsey manners but as for me I will be following your channel closely. 😃
He is quite relax to have almost rolled. Have you heard him make any sound yet ? I hope the vet comes soon to check him. Have you tried to put a bit of dried skin under your microscope ? He looks tired perhaps because he is underweight and will have more energy once he has recovered some strenght, still being a calm sweet little horse. He loved butt scratching ! Well done, he seems to tolerate everything and looks for you as his guide, somehow.
Yes, he nickers all the time now when I bring him food. Just a quiet little raspy thing. He did call out once or twice when David took Joka out into the forest out back and Luke started calling out..
@@StableHorseTraining that's great ! He's really finding in place and being reactive to his environment and other horses. He might find the blond little Joka to his taste😀
Love to see what his true color is going to be once he sheds out. He is beautiful. How closely related are they to the US Mustang do you think they are?
Not really sure.. I think there is quite a difference though but without a DNA test I think it would come down to just careful observations and data collection
Microscope might be useful to check his hair. I remember the vet did that with a rescue dog we had and she had Microscopic mites, so needed treatment for those little blighters. Great idea with the rake. Scratches and grooming.
I’m assuming his left side is his dominant side and he feels more comfortable with you on that side. I believe he is being more tolerant of the rake because with the amount of dead hair and skin is probably pretty itchy. I like your thought on the licking and chewy. Some trainers will work a horse and keep them scared and because it did a lick or chew they think the horse just learned something. You can be soft and teach a horse. It might take a little longer but it puts less stress on the horse or you can be hard a bring out the whips, chains, bits and hobbles etc and have a horse that will only listen because it’s scared of being tortured
Impressive & saves the ends of your fingers. It sure does the job & he likes it !!! Plus he needs it, eh? (By the way where did you get that great rake?)
Is it more comfortable to brush in the direction of hair growth as opposed to a back and forth movement? Or does it matter? Cause he really likes whatever you’re doing.
I believe it is, no different than on humans I expect. It's only good for getting surface material though. It would be like washing your hair and only moving your hands in the downward direction. So... for petting, yes, cleaning, no.
I think his summer coat will be a light brown with black mane and legs- how are they called in Canada? Bay? Here in Germany it is mostly called some variation of brown, like light brown, brown, dark brown, chocolate brown, black-brown ;-)
Oh! That's what is happening with the licking and chewing...? They are just able to release/relax and actually swallow after being stressed? So it's different than a colt licking and chewing to show they are not a threat?
Yes, if a horse licks and chews after a stressful event, that's why they do it. I'm not sure of the situation of when a baby horse does it of being a threat or not. I'd have to see the situation, but I can imagine that.
I liked the way he walked up to you and watched you examine his hair. He's a good boy.
He's going to be a fun horse.
amazing! He must feel better to have all that hair off of him! What a good boy ☺️
Intelligence in a beautiful form. Horsewhisperer, you have the touch.
Thank you Alice, I'll take that as a big compliment :)
Sweet boy! Even I was getting ready to doze off. You have such a calming, trustworthy nature. Love it!!
He likes it 👏👏👏
Quite amazing. Great idea with the little rake. He's looking better already, Graeme. I love that he came up behind you. He really is such a gentle soul. Have a great day.
I like when he comes up behind me too, feels like a friend showing up
He is a friend coming up. Great idea with the rake!
Why is blinking fantastic?! This is the most fascinating process to watch--getting this horse healthy and training him.

He has shown signs of biting here and there, but so far no kicking.
What a sweet horse.

Me too. A bit surprised he let me get as far as I did, so far though he doesn't seem to see me as a threat. Maybe a pest...
Yes, I think the rake is the perfect tool for the job!
Seems like he is enjoying it 😁
H E IS REALLY DOING GREAT🌺‼️🌺
It was pretty amazing to see how he let you do his left side! He’s a sweet horse and I so enjoy how kind you are to all of them! Thank you! We would have had a rodeo if the rake was truly stuck!
Well that went rather well! What a good lad you've got there.
He just seems to love the interaction 🐴❣

I love this guy! He's my favorite! He has such sweet (and dozy) eyes! He probably wouldn't like it, but I want to give him a hug.
I don't think he'll be missing digging through 4 feet of snow for something to eat anytime soon.Your calm and kindness is nice to watch. Also whatever you end up naming him he'll be a Gordon in my mind lol.

I feel as though much of his discomfort lies in his feet. It's just all about how he moves. Minimal steps, maximum communication for him
I think so... need to get him trimmed up.
I can't wait till you'll be able to really brush him and wash him, I think he'll be beautiful
Great job bless him :)

You hit this Graeme I got a kids take too how cool
Sorry for misprint should read you got this Graeme I have a kids rake too how cool
😂😂😂😂😂🐴

The rake is perfect for scritchies.

He is beautiful.

I think it would be fun to do a DNA test....

Too bad we don’t treat people this way

The rake is just a kid's rake you buy at the dollar store or something. Gardening set for little tiny children.

I'm terrible with color schemes for horses. No idea what it's called. Light brown I think.
