So funny! At 5:32 the english translation is "The Führer himself will come here for our apologies" but in german Till Schweiger is actually saying "The Führer himself will come to tear up our assholes".

This was such a fun movie. Really sad to see how many didn't have a good time with it. I would've seen it twice but there's been several good movies released the past few months.

At the time, Operation Postmaster was a closely guarded secret, but it has since been extensively documented, and written about in many carefully researched historical works, including the book which the film is (very loosely) based on. I would add a slight correction and say that several defensive anti-aircraft batteries did open fire during the raid at imaginary aircraft, which should count as "shots being fired" but @nickmclenal3051 is correct that there was no running gun battle as portrayed here.
@@gnfnrf Second, everybody actually in on it was for the most part, real quiet on the subject. So, it was likely only partially documented to help hide it plus the people who were in on it were dead or quite old, so the story could have a lot of inaccuracies. Maybe the Germans or Africans know more bout it, but I doubt it since it was likely burned. Getting these types of missions in such an old time, an accurate summary of events is hard. But who knows the truth, yeah, they could well have documented and perfectly recalled the whole thing. Or some German spy burned a few details as to hide such an embarrassing defeat. But that's conspiracy so whatever
So these german soldiers apparently were the prototypes of the Imperial Stormtroopers in Star Wars. So what if most historians agree that the average Wehrmacht trooper was well trained and a good shot...
I'd like to think that these were ss troops and not wehrmacht regular troops. SS were notoriously not as good as the regular army and were just really good at propaganda. they were a great example of how "racial purity" doesn't actually make you better at anything.
@@khrishp yes, that's a possibility. But then didn't SS troops have different patches? If you look closely, in this scene, you barely see them. So it's ambiguous at best, as to whether the Germans depicted here are SS or Wehrmacht.

Never seen a bigger load of W**K in my life.
