Deutsche Welle is really a Colonial Project.However it is broadcast throughout the World Via Satellite Broadacast. The aim is to promote Germany Abroad.
It's not an error, although I used two different languages each. DW 1993 - 1999 titles is different throughout the years, and currently I have discovered that there're 3 version, The first version is the one in German, which has different globe and still use old studios, last used maybe 95 or something. The second one has new studios and the globe is remaked. The last one is the English one, followed by another new studios and the same globe with the second one, but the headlines is changed, used from 1996.
The current theme is iconic. Hope they never change it!
The theme music from 2:24 to 4:03 was a part of my childhood when I would watch these newscasts on WNYE-TV Channel 25.
The first one is by far the best.
1999- 2002 & 2002-2006 remind me of my late childhood. I would see them follow around lunchtime after the Kenyan domestic news.

I can answer this question. Believe it or not, the long-defunct DW magazine DW Plus said that thing is a gyroscope.
