    Interesting comparison! So far, I have only tried the Chapter 1 and the Chapter 2. I preferred the chapter 1 to the chapter 2, but the chapter 1 had been opened a week, and the chapter 2 was a neck pour... I will try the Chapter 3 in a few weeks, and have not been able to find the Chapter 4 here on Vancouver Island... The sherry cask Glen Garioch looked intriguing until I saw the price tag and left it there.

    So if the Renaissance Chapter 3 is available for €67 near me I should spend some money?

    I was right about to load up two bottles of Chapter 4 because I can get it for 150$ CDN (which I think is a real good price for an 18 yo), but I think I'll hold off lol. Thanks.

      @@likkletigga So because you two take one guy's opinion on a great bottle,you therefore will dismiss it? I am currently sipping on chapter 4 and it is sublime. I actually prefer it to chapter 3 because the oakiness gives it a very round somewhat dusty character which is just lovely. Don't be so quick to rule out greatness because it doesn't align with one man's taste. Imagine a world like that.

    If by chance you remember the Chaper 4 (your least favourite of the bunch) would you say that it is still better than the 12?

      Chapter 4 is leaps and bounds better than the 12. You can't even compare. I''d argue it is the most characterful of the 4 because of the oakiness. It is perfectly integrated in the spirit and lends so much "wisdom" (if you will) to the dram. The 12 is a more budget friendly decent malt with great value, but the Chapter 4 is playing in the big leagues and is in a class of its own. It's a wonderful whisky.

    I liked chapter 1. At least as much as 2. Never had the 15 year Sherry cask but the 1999 14 year sherry cask is very nice and inexpensive. The 1998 Wine cask, 14 year is very good, the 18 is too expensive. Then there is the always still available 1995/2012 batch 30, last of the the old style and seems to be available everywhere in Canada.

    If you were choosing between the Ancnoc 24 or Glengarioch 17 (3rd Chapter) as a free dram which would you take?

    • @WhiskyJason1
      @WhiskyJason1  Месяц назад +1

      that is a great question - in the summer Ancnoc 24 and in the winter Glengarioch 17 (3rd Chapter)

    When you did this on your German site, the 15 yr old did a scratch better, as far as I could tell. It came first on nose, then second overall. My German's not great, mind you. But perhaps it means the top three are pretty close? The challenge is a great format btw. Thanks.

    Fantastic--I've just opened the 15yo Sherry (a bit sulfury) and Chapter 1 (very spicy)--I'm haven't seen the other Chapters, unfortunately. Not having been able to compare the Chapter 1 to the other Chapters, I find that it is pretty well done, though the heat is there and that really turns up the spice intensity, so a little goes a long way. By the way, the list of what is what was not posted on the left side of your video (not that I mind as not knowing adds to the drama).
