- Denmark plans to implement the world's first carbon tax on livestock emissions from 2030 onwards.
Agriculture is the biggest source of emissions for the Scandinavian nation, which is a major dairy and pork exporter, and the plan is aimed at helping the country meet its climate goals.
Cow and sheep farmer Gareth Wyn Jones joins Talk’s Jeremy Kyle to discuss this further.

We are farmers in Australia. This is a worldwide attack on farming. We have been getting such low prices for our lamb we've reduced our flock to virtually nothing. Our government has decimated our livestock industry in this country with rules and regulations. They are in our business every step of the way. They clearly hate us!

I'm an Australian sheep farmer, the crap that is happening with farmers all over the world is ridiculous. There will be a huge food shortage, but you know who will be ok, farmers cause well have enough food to feed our families and our small communities ,as for the cities well look out

Where I am they had a farmer sold his land to build flats and houses just by the railway tracks next to it is a allotment site where the public can grow their own food but they want to also take that away and build homes on that aswel
What we need to do is go back to the good old days when everyone cooked at home, grew at home, milked the cow in the backyard at home, and used their own livestock and poultry. No fast food outlets, no fancy restaurants or supermarkets. Fresh from the the back yard or the farmers. Farmers markets, where we can trade our produce and stock up on what we need. No wastage no plastics no traffic jams. Each town needs to start acting on this and get all the locals to take part in producing locally and taking care of their own communities, You dont need acres of land, even a box would do under a window in your home.
Have u seen how small average back gardens are now 😂 ude struggle to grow a sack of spuds they've got majority of people right were they want them cramped into little box houses no access to fresh food just takeaways and shops selling processed frozen bull crap all relying on their government taxed wages to go buy food that's also taxed not enough to make it out and not to little that you die just enough to keep the whole tax wheels moving
We could halt all of it and stop driving our cars and it would do NOTHING. Just remember when people are starving and dying, it's the government's fault.

I listened to a farmer on the radio this morning telling us how he was rewilding his farm - and he said that he was getting more money for that than he got for producing food - courtesy of the UK taxpayer. Idiocy of just plain criminal?

He is right. In Nigeria, we are struggling heavily with massive food shortages as terrorists have taken over the food-producing belts and charging farmers heavy taxes to be allowed to their farms. Now the government has had to remove all taxes and tariffs on food imports to attempt a stop-gap solution. The government here was warned about where we were heading even before COVID and they did nothing! Farmers feed the nation, they producing food in all weathers, come what may. They deserve our respect and thanks , because if there was no food we would all die. Think of that everyone, quality food doesn’t grow on trees, it is produced by hard work by our farmers.

How does putting a tax on each cow help the environment? Where is that money going to go? What is it going to be spent on? All this tax does is line the pockets of those who have suggested this.
I feel exactly the same way about 'road tax'. It used to be a way of funding the upkeep of the roads hence the name. But how on earth is taxing a vehicle due to its emissions level helping the environment?? It doesn't. The vehicle is still emitting these emissions regardless, so what is the money being spent on? Same with taxing cows, they're still gonna be there, in the fields, doing what they do, so how is the taxing gonna change that? By making it impossible for the farmer to survive. Stand up to this and say NO.
