I totally agree with all suggestions! And the gate adjuster needs to be reworked. Once you have material in the hopper you can’t adjust the gate.

the inverted V you're referring to isn't to eliminate bridging, it's to lessen the weight/load on the conveyor

You are correct. I learned this the hard way. I had a yard and a half of wet salt sand dumped into the spreader and the conveyor chain would not move. I had to shovel out three quarters of the load before the chain would move on its own. Thanks for the post. Eric

@@farmall450diesel sounds like a good time. I’m sure moisture content is a big factor, but also whether someone just dumps the sand in versus sprinkling it in. Hope you’re raking in the dough.

Thanks for the comment. This is my second year with a electric sander and I don't miss messing with a gas engine. I talked to the dealer where I bought it from and he said they don't stock gas powered spreaders anymore. He said nobody wants them. Eric

I know it's an old video but my steel caster is a 2019 model and it has spring pins to hold the outside of the top grates down. The center can't come up if the outside doesn't come up first because of the T the grate sits in. Surprised yours didn't come with them. Maybe your dealer forgot to install them. It's a U that a single bar of the grate fits in and a clip goes through the top. Very simple design.

It takes about five minutes to install the spreader. The mounting brackets slide into the stake pockets and once installed the brackets keep the spreader from sliding back and forth. I do use four ratchet straps, one on each side. There are no tools required Eric
