Had a simaller experience with Alaska Airlines, they cancled our flight 3 separate times, forcing one entire trip cancellation, as well as a chirstmas spent at an airport hotel. They also left our bags at the wrong airport twice, so we had to wait a few days for the bags to be shipped to our hotel. The customer service was extremely helpful though.
That’s crazy! I fly Alaska a few times a year and have never had an issue!

Same here, but only for longer Alaska flights? I visit my family on the east coast every year, and out of all the times I’ve gone, a good portion of the flights end with my luggage on the wrong plane, and it gets shipped back and it’s happened three years in a row on that route.

I remember hearing somewhere whenever a plane is struck by lightning they must thoroughly inspect and test it’s systems when it lands. But delaying it for a day is still really bad.

I am an airliner pilot, you’re right that they are built to withstand being struck. However once landing the plane is out of service until an engineer can inspect the entry and exit points and ensure there’s no damage to the aircraft skin

As a Australian, I can confirm that they have insane delays and terribly handles with customers and luggage

Did you hear, a middle aged woman in Business class was peed upon during her 10+ hr flight. The staff did some basic cleaning and gave her fresh robe to wear. But they made her sit in the same place for the rest of her 5 hr journey. She had to gear the stench, while there were free seats in first class.
The pilot and crew were then highly criticised for this behaviour. And the person who peed on her, lost his job. Not sure if legal proceedings are ongoing.

AeroMexico wouldn't accept my husband's marriage certificate as reason why his passport name is different than his US Visa name. They lied and said US CBP says they need to match. So we paid for another business class ticket with his passport name. When we arrived in the US, CBP said the names dont need to match. I called the credit card company and explained the situation with documentation and they reimbursed me for the extra ticket and denied the payment to AeroMexico. I win :)

As an Australian and a Trainee Pilot, Jetstar is a great airline (most of the time). And flights being cancelled and postponed is just normal.
Planes can be stuck by lighting and are struck by lighting thousands of times over one flight. If the airline makes that excuse rebook

If a plane is struck by lightning, the pilots check all the systems to ensure everything is functioning. If a serious issue is detected, the aircraft will divert to land at the nearest airport. On May 13, a Max Air aircraft carrying about 500 pilgrims from Nigeria to Saudi Arabia had to make an emergency landing at Aminu Kano International (KAN) following a severe lightning strike.
This only happens in extreme cases, as flights usually continue to their destinations after a strike. Even if it lands seemingly unscathed, the aircraft's exterior will be thoroughly checked for damages on the ground. These mandatory inspections delay flights and create costs for the airlines; therefore, pilots will often avoid flying through thunderstorms if possible.

Jetstar are a subsidiary of Qantas. Australians used to be proud of our national carrier, but as a company they have deteriorated significantly over the years, to the point now where we book with them but only reluctantly #JoyceOut

I once booked a Jetstar flight, and the website told me they were repairing the engine because apparently, it need maintenance. The flight got cancelled. But at least they gave me the option to book another flight or get a full refund.

I would recommend searching for legal action, for property damage mainly, But also keeping you away from your own belongings.
You do realise nothing will happen if an aircraft is struck by lightning. I mean granted you'd rather avoid it but all planes have a special coating to protect the aircraft. Planes are struck by lightning more often than you think.

Very recently, It was TUI who was a major disappointment. We had a flight at roughly 5 in the evening, and it was 19 hours long. They did not feed us once, staff was rude, and most importantly our flight was delayed by 13 hours.
When planes get struck by lighting they have to go to a warehouse and re check if everything is ok from the lightning strike

Aircraft are designed to be struck by lightning, it doesn’t make a difference. The lightning either goes out the of the end of the wings or the tail. Some planes have conductors on the wings so they could go out that too.

One time I went to the airport at midday to get a flight at 3pm. After delay after delay, the flight was cancelled at 10pm at night. To make it worse, they said they weren't going to book anyone a hotel and we'd basically have to find one ourselves.
The flight was rescheduled to 5pm the next day!! Which I guess wasn't enough of a delay to the airline so they pushed it to 6:30pm. All this was due to 'a storm blocking the runway'. Just for reference, it was clear skies outside.
So after a 26 hour delay in a foreign country, our flight finally left. We got no compensation or discounts. Thanks a lot easyJet.
I had a flight on December 26 to go spend new year with my dad in New York, my flight was at 6 am so I was there at 3, then they told me that my flight was cancelled, they rebooked me for the 30th but my dad could find me a flight on the 29th at 6 am again, when I got to the airport they told me that my flight had been cancelled again and mind you I had to be back in Texas on the 7th of January for school, I told my dad to just get a refund and find a flight on another airline, since it was during the holidays flights are so expensive that was Spirit airlines and it costed $500 then my dad found me a flight on United airlines, and since United is not a low cost carrier it was more expensive, but yeah that’s my worst experience, that was gonna be my first time flying on spirit airlines, but since they didn’t feel safe flying to New York on cold weather that tells me that they don’t have the best maintenance for their airplanes, I know this cause other airlines had flights at the same time and they didn’t cancel it
As an Aussie I also had a bad experience with Jetstar, although it wasn’t the worst my flight got a multiple hours delay and my auntie and cousins had to buy tickets for a different plane. 😭

I have flown Jetstar for a really long time and never had a really bad experience with them. Maybe just Luck but it was only one time when our flight from Bali Denpasar to Melbourne was Delayed for 2 hours while we were in the plane. The plane was so hot and the flight attendants were handing out water so we can keep cool. Then we left Bali at 12am.
This had nothing to do with the Eruption of the Mount Agung Volcano which erupted 12 days after we left.
Mine was Berlin airlines on the way to Iceland, it was a living hell

Planes do actually get struck by lightning. They are designed to be struck by lightning and can fly just fine afterwards. They are most likely just making sure that the plane is still 100% fully operational and without any problems. ✌️
