As someone who has worked with sheet metal for 15 years, I know it takes a lot of craftsmanship. I understand you don’t want to show us, but I’m curious about how you make some features. Nice work, Matthew. Edit: Grammar
@@dirtygarageguy I am curious how you made the long impression. I also find it impressive that you can create the large radius while still maintaining precision. I am curious how you close the bends when you go from a C to a D shape.
Fascinating, thank you. Understand why you can't disclose trade secrets in case the scifi dweebs start making their own parts, but could you maybe come back to this in the future and show us the stamping & forming processes?
Is the plan long term/moving forward to specialise in these type of metal formed production type parts for makers/enthusiasts? Or are you more interested in doing various types of commissions of lower volume with less intensive outlay?
Fantastic explanation Matt! That blank must have taken a while to develop considering I give you stick about Solidworks! The swaging, forming, welding & trimming looks to be top shelf. Great work. Have you got other projects on the go with respect to sheet metal work? Would you consider doing motorcycle parts like bash plates, rear racks & pannier racks? Cheers
Matt, I have a project that would require hundreds/thousands of small bits about the size of the holes in your cage. Basically what they cut out of your sheet is what I'm after. Do you reckon the laser cutters are going to tell me to FRO seeing as they have to fish all them bits out of the tank by hand? Maybe the price would just go up?
@@dirtygarageguy I've had smaller bits lasered and no one said anything, I got all my bits, and I got charged a reasonable amount. If they're steel just fish them out with a magnet swarf wand, as I do on the tumbler polisher
very nice work Matt ❤ thx for sharing 😊 does mild steel contain low carbon percentage compared to other steels ? also is it more prone to rust ? keep it up 😊
Re- live stream there were 30,000 laws passed in the USA since 1978. that was federal laws not state ,county or local laws, and not counting previous laws. Chuffing ludicrous to say America is a free country!
It is yes. It's also funny that he fires it in the police station but the sound effect is a full auto rifle sound. They mixed up the effects in the edit lol
I'm not sure you needed to worry about leaving out features so it couldn't work as a firearm part. This component isn't pressure bearing, so isn't it considered just the same as a stock, a handguard, a safety catch etc? For example I've fitted my GBB Airsoft gun with a pistol grip, stock and rail which are intended for 'real steel' firearms, and were bought unrestricted off the internet. Just a thought mate, I get the belt and braces approach though.
"So there we go another 8 hours in the garage" 😂

Damn that's quite a complex series of tasks to get to the finished product.
Thought it was going to be the last Ginge RSV4 episodes. 😐

I thought that part in the top to the rear, that you said was for Automatic or Manual, was for the rear sight?
Interesting, thought.

Looking good Matt.

you'd have to have them in a grid with tabs that you break off. No one is picking bits out of the laser.
@@dirtygarageguy Thanks. That makes sense.

It depends HOW small.
@@dirtygarageguy one that comes to mind were 6x10mm foils with a 3mm hole in for a prototype air monitoring device
Hi Matt is there any more films you would consider making weapon parts for or more Aliens stuff, smart gun or flame thrower parts.
Depends what it is
Have you built any replicas or props from ghostbusters?
I have been asked. I did one vented heat shield for the new film, and someone enquired about a full metal trap.
Nice work 👌
Nice work
Have you made yourself an actual complete pulse rifle prop?
Yes, 5 in fact

Lovely explained. 8 hours for each step obviously.
