Your website looks so stylish and clean. I like it! I agree with you, whether you go self or trad pub, if you are serious about your author career, you should build your author platform (including website) as soon as possible. From what I've read up on this, it's recommended to have the call to action (newsletter in this case) above the fold. So I went with menu, tagline and about me + photo, and the newsletters right underneath. The downloadable lead magnets usually work great. It can be a sample of your book (a couple of chapters) if you're not already published.
Yup, that's exactly it :D It should be visible on the first screen on your website, no scrolling needed. More so if you have a freebie you're offering. I haven't tested it enough, but so far, it's working well for me.
Congrats on launching your website! I'm on the process on launching mine (I actually have a whole video on how I kind of design it), and I'm also using Wix! I've worked as a freelancer designer for websites, and I've tried many website builders, but I feel like Wix is the easiest, most flexible one!

abigailmwrites I'm not tech savvy at all, but wix was soooo easy to use. I seriously can't stress enough how easy it was. I made like two websites (one for my authorship and one for my cleaning company) in like a day.
I agree with Cass, Abigail! Wix is so intuitive and they have a ton of video tutorials too! I am probably going to make a video with some more “behind the scenes” how-to steps with Wix so keep a lookout for that! 😁

Bluehost and Wordpress...I've somehow become disconnected from wordpress to where I can't see my things or stats on the app...And I have a parked domain that isn't linking to the main domain...I don't know what I'm doing and I hate technology lol
Loved the video! This definitely gave me some more ideas on how to make my author site better. Do you have any recommendations or videos about what to put in an author newsletter? I hear all the time "it's so important, you have to do it!" But nobody ever explains what the "it" is that you "must do." Lol

No prob :) I feel like all of the author newsletters I see are from people who have soooo much going on, like signings and events and new books coming out, so I just can't imagine what new information I would have to give people every month when I dont have any of that stuff going on.
Struggling to find this, but what about those who write online? I'm looking for a site that will always be to put my stories on as a backup or a main writing platform, meaning separate pages for the books and chapters. As well as something like wiki where I can put world building information on, just in case readers get confused or just want to read some extra stuff.

The only downside is there’s a small ad for wix that appears on your site (just a thin banner at the top) and you can’t customize the url unless you upgrade to a paid account. That can still work though until you are ready to upgrade! I would sign up making your account name your author name and then your url will become “your account name . wixsite . com / your site name” - I showed an example of what it would look like in the beginning of the video too. Since it’s free to sign up, wouldn’t hurt to try it out! 👍
