  • Off the Northumberland coast is a group of islands that possess several characteristics that make them unique. Despite their relatively small size, the Farne Islands are incredibly biodiverse. The islands support one of the largest colonies of grey seals in England. They also host a wide variety of seabird species, including puffins, shags, razorbills, guillemots and terns. Additionally, this rich diversity of marine and birdlife contributes to the unique ecological significance of the islands.
