My sister stays in a joint family. Until delivery she was working. When she was pregnant, she wakes up by 4.30 am. Make ready for breakfast and lunch. Does laundry, sweep and mop the house, wash dishes. By 6.30 she will make coffee for all and then go get ready to office. By 9 am she have to be in office. That too her cab comes by 7.15.
After reaching home, she will make dinner, again wash dishes, cleaning the house. She will go to sleep around 12.
She came to our house for delivery. They gave three months PERMISSION to stay with us. After three months, she again started with heavy works. As she under went c-section, she faced lot of complications. Even if she faint and fall, they won't lift the crying grandson. Only the neighbour aunty will come running. Please know that there are some elders who are heartless. Don't always think all grand parents are good. They don't have to take care of kids. Atleast they should learn to understand the pains of daughter in law.

I live in uk and we both are working parents with two kids. I supported my wife career throughout parenthood and proud of her being working mom. She has done lot for family and i never felt i am doing any favour for her. I had to stay in old boring job for 7 years just because it offered some flexibility and was closer to home. However its very difficult for working parents to raise kids without grandparents. Only some work places understand it and many ignore despite knowing problems working parents face. On the other hand i also feel its not fair on children to go through such time in childhood. Its difficult choice as many childminders lack basic emotions.

I think so much has changed now from when my children were young. In that period, not many men took responsibility for their children as women did, leaving for a home that was continually stressful and tense. This lead to the children following into the same lifestyle they grew up with whereas some troubled women would get counselling, knowing they had do something, to eventually have and raise a happy family.
Today I see a lot of young men helping equally in the home as the wife/mother. I see my one son in law that does very little at home, again leaving it for my daughter having to pull 75/80% of the responsibility in the home. On the other son in law, he does the equal share or he does the 50/65% sharing of chores and keeping the home run as smooth as it should.
So come on parents start teaching your children to work and take equal responsibility in the home, if they want a happy wife and well adjusted children.

Show this to all the chauvinist's anywhere around the world and they'll shrug their shoulders .it all boils down to how men were raised as kids , some helped their mothers with household chores others were made to feel like they are God's gift. These characteristics stick on in adulthood and can't be changed by the wives, having said that I think the joint family system was excellent we all had someone or the other to lean on at times like these

But, over all such a sweet video. I was stressed when the mom got the call and was worried that the little one will be left alone. Superbly done and brilliantly performed by the cast, especially the mom. She emoted this beautifully!

It's not about just working women. My mother is a home maker but still my dad shared the responsibility and work as all our relatives and grand parents stayed far off and were not in a position to frequently travel or stay at our place as even they had their own responsibilities towards their own children. I am proud of my dad. Even now my dad helps my mom with household chores. Dealing with a toddler isn't easy let it be a home maker or a working woman. A mother always needs support.
