  • Third-culture kids are kids raised in a different culture than the one their parents grew up in and have experienced various cultural backgrounds. Sociologist, Ted Ward, called them the 'prototype for the future'. Now, more than ever, as our world becomes more globalized and connected, resulting in a surge in the third culture phenomenon, the question rises: How can we create a world for the future generations, many of whom will be TCKs? Jaya Vashisth is a learner, enthusiastic music lover, and an advocate for girls in science. Proud of her Indian roots, she loves to learn about other cultures and their life stories. Her hobbies are reading, calligraphy, and cooking new food. She is bilingual, loves to learn other languages, and aspires to explore the world one day. She is passionate about spreading the positive energy of appreciating our differences and yet celebrating a message of oneness. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
