Founded on 19 March 1899 by Charles Cheers Wakefield in London; originally named the Wakefield Oil Company. In 1909, the company began production of a new automotive lubricant named Castrol (a contraction of Castor oil, from which it was made). The company developed specific oil applications for various applications of the new internal combustion engine, including automobiles, motorcycles, and aircraft.
Thr clue as to the age of the oil dign was in the sign itself : "king" (appointment to or something similar) so it couldn't have been 19th century. Surprised Drew didn't spot that...
@@wordsmith52 Well spotted. Not surprised though, if he did spot it and didn't say, on the spot. He did say he had suspicions of the age. Ironically, like a crown,as a non-Monarchist living in Australia, it's over my head.
7:12 I'd love that Wakefield Castrol sign to go with the 2 gallon(?) green and black Wakefield Castrol oil can in my garage. But the Beaufighter/Spitfire pedal car? Oh yeah! Is it going into your garage for a while Drew? For Kevin Mith, my oil can lists other Castrol oils made, including Rotary aircraft motors. 7:02 No Wakefield Texas, there's a Waco ("Way-co") Texas though.
I wish someone would tell Drew that if he changed the dual seat in the van to a single seat his back would improve no end, the dual seats were designed for local journies and to have two men in to help the driver, not for going the sort of distances that he does with Tee.
I would love to have one of these little pedal cars for my grandson, he loves tractors, trucks, trains, airplanes and cars, my little buddy. From amazon, car hop trays stay safe.
*Man is awesome. We love our hobby to collect old things coz of history or very very rare items, and they have priceless price for sure and we proud to owned them. But when we die, our wife/partner sell it so cheap like a garbage. Damn!*
Quid is Bucks or in over there money, English Pound Sterling. The UK never switched to or used the Euro. Over here, we Yanks took the drop tanks like this, put in a Chevy V-8!
How do you know it wasn't donated to his museum for free? I think that's more likely than him buying it, in which case he's £800 up and making the same profit more or less
If he dropped the spiel on how much he might make off the deal he would make the program much more enjoyable. It seems like a "fleece your unknowing counterpart" game.
"Jump in Drew" hahaha , T is a Legend !! X
Thank goodness for collectors! They save our history. Super show. Hope Drew makes a profit considering all his staff. Thanks much.
