Love mine! I bought them when RW dropped them and wore them last night. Outta the box comfortable! Only thing I don’t like are the waxed flat laces. They don’t go through the speed hooks quickly. I do prefer the look of the flat box beckman but I couldn’t find them so agree with your thoughts on these.

@@CJCook - took a bit of work but not brutal. The mini lug does get better. I switched to an RW insert and thinner socks now that that they're broken in. Kid you not, 20+ compliments on these since I bought them. I wear them on stage so they get a bunch of looks.
These look sweet... I love the brown undertones, and I actually prefer these over my 3341 Blacksmiths in Charcoal R and T, but, alas...can't have both. Damn!
I'm not sure which number video this is for me in regards to watching this channel, but I've watched a decent amount. I appreciate that this man is a proper fan of Red Wing footwear. I have personally come to my own conclusion that they might be the best brand. I have the bigger over built more expensive Pacific Northwest boots, and I just see a major value in comparison. Red Wing is a winner.

These were my first RW's! For those on the fence, they are very impressive, and sooo comfortable. The break-in process was next to nothing, and they pair with almost everything in my wardrobe. CJ, it would be a shame to see this pair not be part of your expansive collection, bc they are very worthy. As always, great review!

Went to the Redwing store yesterday and these caught my eye first. Love the matte finish on em. My leather is a bit rough on the back shaft but its ok. Wax laces are tough to tie and get through the speedhooks. Didn't know the brown undertones will come out as it breaks in, this will be interesting. Update: Day 2 - seeing more brown now, standing next to a black shoe the brown is really noticeable, i guess i will switch to a brown belt.
@@CJCookend of 2nd day (1st full day wearing em) i can tell the leather is softening up a lot. Only thing hurting was the top shaft part pushing against my ankle, laces tied a bit tight but gotten stretch em out you know. I got a compliment on em today as well. Good to meet a fellow boot lover 👍! You have a nice collection.
@@evvignes oh man so sorry, didn't see this till now. Well it turns out that I had to return em. One boot was missing the hard piece in the toebox which was a manufacturing mistake. I got the iron rangers in black harness. But i actually just bought them again a few minutes ago. Thinking about using these for the stitchdown thunderdome. I also have the indigo fera climbers which are in black prarie. They do show a lot of brown undertones. They are great motorcycle boots. You can see where the shift lever has scuffed away the black. Also around where the laces are.

Most Red Wing cap toes are canvas lined which helps absorb moisture. I prefer leather-lined because the heat from the foot helps shaping and break-in on the boot.
Hi CJ, I am on the fence of buying this boots after own 9 pairs of RW, I noticed the leather looks (from other pics) much thinner than other RW and creases much easier, is that true? Thanks!

They have many leather worker's there, and store's that have leather shoes, boots, tennis women leather shoes but the art and craftsmanship is dieing out down there also because the younger generation are not picking up what there grandparents have been doing for many year's. Or I can write the RED WING company a personal letter and tell them exactly what I want. I know it will be pricey but they will last a very long time. Thorogood makes them all they way down to a 5" I'll let Red Wing that .

Ok, let's figure this out. I wore the Postman for about 3 hours in a size 9. My big toe was rubbing the front of the shoe. So, part of me is tempted to guide you to an 8. BUT...I own a few boots made on the Last 8 which are a half size bigger than I would normally measure and it is fine.

I also forgot to mention that I had put on the 8D in beckman 9011 before and it was a bit too tight when I slipped my insole into the boots. Did you keep the blacksmiths? If so, how did they look after wearing them. My right boot broke in very different than the left. I'm not pleased with these boots at all.
What took so long? ;-) The 3345 is one of my favorites. Like a Flatbox Beckman with larger toe box (though I prefer the Flatbox Beckman). I like the full Vibram sole of the Blacksmith, Merchant and Iron Ranger because the Beckman style has the leather in the middle that gets messed up with water/snow.
@@CJCook Ha, kidding. I get that. The 9060 is the better looking boot. Unfortunately, I couldn't find them in 11.5 (they only went up to 11 as far as I could tell).
@@CJCook I only have 4 Red Wing Heritage boots: the 3340 Blacksmith, 3345 Blacksmith, 8062 Merchant and 8086 Iron Ranger. I think the 8086 (my first Red Wings, BTW) are the only ones you don't have. I like the charcoal R&T and the black eyelets.
Nothing personal, yet some critique if you don´t mind too much. I love good boots including Red Wing and I understand the drive to have many different boots, though I try hard to contain myself not to follow the itch to satisfy every "need". What I find somewhat going against the purpose and the spirit of a pair of well manufactured boots though, is buying very similar boots to then change a sole that is in perfect condition to make them look different. I mean from an ecological point of view, this is pure non-sense, and I say that while I still love the thrill of seeing and maybe buying a pair of good shoes. I just don´t get the point to buy something new to change it straight away. It is a waste of materials, time, energy, etc, which is 100% avoidable and therefore (with all due respect) irresponsible. In fact, the major reason why I buy Red Wings or a pair of Alden boots, is (besides their look and feel) the fact that they are durable and that can be resoled. Hence, trying to get away from a mass consumption of poorly crafted goods towards some type of sustainability. Hope you get my point without being offended. Cheers!
CJ Cook basically yes...I wanted to get Black Harvesters by couldnt get them and then I found 3345s for a good price and before buying I found out that there is also the Charcoal version. But I would have to look for a good price etc. I wanted one black boot (i have 3343 and Moc Toe) but dont want IRs or Beckmans. Thanks

No, the leather would not be thinner. It is much softer than Black Klondike but not thinner.

No, i passed on the 8849s. I converted the Ox Blood Moc Toes.
