I wonder if it would be easier to just take copper or brass pipe and drill your own holes for the fingering? I know there are some things that show how to calculate the spacing...
I get what you're saying. I could make instruments with the desired number of holes in the desired key and scale, and be done with it. But I have some thoughts on that: 1) Doing a bunch of math and drilling holes in precise locations with precise diameters does not sound EASIER, 2) Those would be HOMEMADE instruments, but not FRANKENHORNS, and this whole project has been centered around putting the "wrong" mouthpiece on an existing instrument, thus the name.. 3) Most of my instruments are reproducible by the layman. All they require are existing parts off the shelf, and very rarely access to power tools.
Those both have pretty nice tone...
