Good job. Pretty much the whole process is to try and make it as much of a pain in the ass as possible for the thief. Like you said, if they want it then they will have it. But each deterrent can buy you ten minutes or so. My personal goal is to try and make it a 30 minute job for the thief. Two chains, two disk brake locks (the back one being alarmed) two brake/throttle locks and an anchor system. If possible stick something heavy in the underneath compartment to add a bit more weight and make lifting it up a hard task.
thank you! yes that's a great way to put it. Each item buys time for you or a passer buy to notice what's going on... and the longer it takes the more likely thieves will get spooked. But best case is they take a look at the work involved and don't even bother! Thanks for watching.
Nice tips, not thought about double chaining it, but I am new to this! I've got two alarmed disc locks and a break lever/throttle lock. 1 chain and an anchor point, to be installed at this time.
@fratchak I’ve heard the Oxford big boss alarm lock is really the best I have a friend who swears by it: amzn.to/3dk4XAc Otherwise cheaper versions of the same thing include… The Oxford screamer: amzn.to/3jkj4cE Or the Lintax break disc lock: amzn.to/3hjt3fP I hope that’s of any help 👍😂
Im being maliciously targeted by a neighbour. The police dont care Once i got my bike back within 11 hours of noticing it gone... which is only a michigan 125 i use the following until i can use my BMW f700gs which is locked in a garage at an unknown location. 2 chains directly to a thick metal gate with rear wheel atatched to said chains 1 chain from front wheel to frame of the bike 2 alarmed disc break locks 1 clutch lock (buys me more time but doubt ill need it) A cover and bungie corded the cover down. Behind a locked gate with a camera facing the gate and me with a plethura of "things" i could use, im sleeping in the room attarched to the gate with the window locked open and an monitor always on to glance at the camera Fool me once... you'll never fool me twice I cant stand motorcycle thieves
I don’t own a motorbike yet so all this is new to me but I plan on getting one soon. Is this only when you park your bike overnight if you don’t have a garage or is this something you do anywhere you go ?
Good question. This is only for over night parking. Generally I only use the disc lock for short term park during the day. Some also carry one single chain too.
Perfect video, especially showing how those chains looks like in reality, pretty massive stuff. I’m planning to get 2 chains to lock both wheels together with motorcycle frame and put both chain ends through a hole( just big enough for those chains) in metal plate(covering cellar window) and then use some solid lock.Locking and unlocking will be made from inside of the building so harder to pick them…what do you think?
This sounds like a great plan. Nothing is ever 100% secure… but with your plan there is so much work to do in order to get the bike, no one will ever bother. If you add a bike cover too that’ll be great 👍
you're dead right about keeping the lock off the ground. concrete floors make a great anvil. also , if possible , place your disc lock with the key hole towards inside of the wheel. much harder to pick.
Great video man!! I hope your still enjoying your Fizzy, was out on mine today :) 6 years later bro.. and it's still the best bike I've ever owned. Great tips in this video!! 😉
Hi Thanks! Glad you like the video. I'm afraid not. That additional 0.5M doesn't sound like much but its pretty much the reason I bought the second 2M chain. And sometimes I end up having to link them together in order to reach the object I'm securing to. If I had to get 1... it would be the longer 2M chain.
Hi man, great video. Just a question. When you put the 1,5/2m chain on, do you also link it to the bike itself, or just the wheels? Just thinking would be much easier removing the wheels and taking the bike just like that onto a van or something if I was to steal it. Getting my first bike in the next week or two and just wanna get these things right.
thank you. And yes, putting the chain round the frame would be a better idea. Its just not always practically possible. But definitely a more secure way of doing it.
Looking for a ground/wall anchor point to attach those change to, but every search is bringing up dodgy results. Can anyone recommend a product/search term?
So i am about to het the oxhorn beast lock n chain n put adt on my shed what should i anchor the frame to in my shed that they can't just cut what it's attached to n dip?
Locking the bike using the frame is a good idea if you are securing it to something solid. However you shed wall wit be that solid. Best to lick it to something lie a ground anchor
I'm doing research before possibly getting my own bike. I'm guessing these methods would be for securing your bike at home or your apartment versus parking at work or popping into the store, right?
I've seen little battery powered alarms the size of a key chain if they get knocked they will go off but also the reciver will sound a alarm was thinking if you slotted it in the cover if someone ripped it off atleast it mighy give you a few minutes head start before they start cutting the chain or doing anything else
the problem I have got is that I see myself forgetting about the disk lock and potentially the chains (it has already happened) and I will smash everything when I pick up my bike. Any advise for that?
the best thing for this is to add bright additions to your devices. E.g for the disc lock, the bright coloured spring that attaches to you handle bars. And for a chain, add bright coloured tape. unfortunately there is no sure fire way of you driving off with these on.. but these have worked for me for over 14 years. And i've only ever driven off without them
Your setup is not angle grinder resistant enough. All we need is 1 litelok x3, a boss alarmed d lock an urban city loop 14mm chain much cheaper than those ones and very long as well because it's a loop chain and of course a monimoto tracker. This yes... Very very time consuming to steal.
Disclocks are useless nowadays. They grind a peace out of the brakedisc left and right from the lock to remove te lock. The don't fight against the strength of your lock. As long as the removed part of the brakedisc is smaller than you brakepad (abortus 6-8 cm) they can still use the brakes whilest getting away! Modern anglegrinders need 4 seconds to cut through a brakedisc. So 2x 4 seconds and the disclock falls of.
@@FabMotorbikes they are quite pricey, but if you find one second hand they can get affordable a chain is a chain so second hand or not it's still the same product👍
Nice one. I had a further look this morning. That Oxford beast looks like a hell of an unbreakable lump. It would take hours and hours to grind or drill through that.
I got a GPS tracker hidden in mine and for some reason I don't give a HUUHUU about the lock :D One benefit it has is that it alarms you if your battery is dead and you know before you even try to fire it up that you have to charge your battery or buy a new one.
Sound good. Although having any additional electrical items that might drain the bikes battery has always annoyed me. I had to have Suzuki Sv1000 with an alarm and immobiliser and the battery always went dead because of it.
Looking for a ground/wall anchor point to attach those change to, but every search is bringing up dodgy results. Can anyone recommend a product/search term?
ground anchor motorcycle sold secure, that is that exact phrase I used. Ended up with the mammoth from SBS. Not installed it yet though As I've only been riding for 2 days after passing my CBT!

Awesome thank you will have a look 👍

A self contained battery operated motion detector is an added layer of security. Amazon has them for about $13.
Nice one thank you. 👍 That’s a good idea to keep it separate from the bike, as not to drain the bike battery in any way.

Awesome video that bike looks secure af lol. The only worry is if the thief takes it as a personal challenge

Sounds rough. All I can say is that the more security put on there the harder is for anyone to take it. They’ll simply give up.

No problem. If you add enough layers of security no one will bother. The more layers/devices the better 👍 thank you for watching

Genius! I had not thought about the key hole on the disc lock facing the other way. Such a simple tip that costs nothing and really easy to do 👍
In the real world virtually no bike thief would pick a lock
Great video man!! I hope your still enjoying your Fizzy, was out on mine today :) 6 years later bro.. and it's still the best bike I've ever owned. Great tips in this video!! 😉
Absolute love this bike still. I see no reason to replace it as of yet! And thank you glad it was helpful 👍
Thanks great vid. Do we think 1.5 meter is still long enough for around lamppost? I have a 2m but it is 9.5kg and a 1.5 would be 6.5kg.

I always thought the brightly covered yellow spring was to remind the rider the disk lock was attached and not to drive off with it on!
That too!

when you go on a ride you leave the chain there on the ground or you take it with you? thanks
I tend to leave everything except the brake disc lock. Thanks for watching

This was money mate I don’t use the thin colorful wire the disc lock comes with either… it’s flashy tho 😂
Can be useful though. Stops you driving off with the disc lock on
Great vid mate 👍
Thank you 👍
I can see putting a heavy motorcycle security chains on a recumbent trike, bit I want a bigger chain
Indeed. Would be heavy

Is it a pewag chain?
No it’s a an Oxford hard core pad lock and chain 👍

It’s all a deterrent in my eyes. If they really really want it they’ll have it. The more you put in the way the less chance they’ll bother
Get a disc lock type (Xenia) with a motion detector alarm
@@platoon1081 They drove of with my bike with the alarm activated. They didn't care.
Thanks great video mate

If you want an impossible chain to get through buy the ALMAX series or Oxford Beast, way better than the Oxford monster
Cheers 👍 will check it out!

Another good tracker is the monimoto tracker self contained can be hidden on bike and had own battery which apparently lasts 3 years or longer

You just wait for the guy to unlock everything then walk up and rob him of his bike.
The police are at your door 🤣🤣
That's where trackers come in handy I guess...
You've done that before haven't you.
😂😂😂
My names Fabian too !
Excellent!
great Video
Thank you
Put chain thru chasis
I do agree. Not always possible, But preferable
Take off both wheels and walk away with the bike lol
😂 you master mind!
I put my chains through an old bicycle tube, stops you scratching your bike.
Genius idea. Thanks. Will last longer than wrapping them in duct tape .
Exactly what I do 😎👍
nice
Thanks 😊
Worst place to lock your bike up is on the rims
Frame is a great place. But often not possible
Have you ever had a bike stolen? If so how many times?
Zero
4 people steal motorcycles for a living.
