Found your channel from NYFG-very interesting, great job! We’re on the north side of the lakes and I hear ya on the balloons! Always picking them up around the farm. Keep up the great work!
I feel so ignorant. When I was a little kid, I saw footage of someone putting a tap in a maple tree, and hanging a bucket from it to catch the sap. Saw the video, " Wow, they use hoses to harvest the sap, that is brilliant." In my own tiny mind the maple farmers were stuck in 1885. I need to pay more attention.
Thank you for sharing, you never know when someone will we show you something you haven't seen. We just finished tapping about 30000 up in Ontario so I'll be chasing leaks for the next couple weeks. Nice to see your loadout very familiar.
I love real American ladys hard working I spent yesterday at my local sugar shack the mud road sugar house that's the big thing in my home town thank you for sharing your life have a good day
No idea I'd be so fascinated with the process of repairing maple lines. What a cool gig! Thanks for sharing. I do wish people would find a less destructive way to celebrate the life of a passing loved one other than the balloons. I respect the intention but literally a million other ways to celebrate without it coming at a cost.
Neat Ms Nikki, your like a really beautiful 1ST responder out there. Our wildlife has thrived lately and a squirrel ate the red rubber primer bulb off me back 40 push mower today. Thank you for the awesome vid's..Love Kelly ..!!
Its incredible how complex the operation is. The pump houses, the logistics of putting it all together is really something. Thanks for showing an industry that most of us would know little about if not for the the visual from your RUclips channel. Hope the season treats you well.
You are now the second savvy, outdoorsy, and passionate young woman content creator in upstate New York I enjoy. The other is NYFG Evelyn. I am pretty sure not to be the only new subscriber to come your way after her visit to your impressive operation. Thought you should know
Currently tapping 125 on 3/16 lines of ~10 taps, lots of getting snowmobiles stuck in our snow here and want to grow in the near future. Id love to see a video explaining how the whole vacuum system works with the extractor and everything
@@MapleFarmer ya totally correct you are very lucky to have options. My brother has a small farm in NY (Corning). But the return on investment sucks in farming. My only enjoyment is teaching new engineers how todo development.
My son-in-laws family has a 4th generation sap farm in Edemston...The last few years they have built it up to a near 5000 tap operation...My mom loves to go out and visit during syrup season so will be taking her this weekend...My daughter says during this time of year she is a "sap widow" LOL
Good video! Keep them coming! I don’t think a lot of people realize much work and the science that is involved with making maple syrup. From Northern Vermont
Love the videos and seeing others do things different. What's the reasoning for tying the lateral into mainline in that loopdee loop instead of Just the horizontal 180 into main
Two fold. #1.Provides ease of observation when leak hunting. #2.Avoids applying undo direct stress to mainline entrance fitting, be it a saddle, 6 way, or spinseal.
@@MapleFarmer Would you mind posting the particular model, I've been meaning to look for a better pair of hose cutters for cutting smaller diameter rubber hose, semi truck plastic airline etc to replace the cheap crap ones I have that are all plastic other then the blade itself which is non replaceable ( typical Chinese junk you know LOL ) Show them in use if you can on a future video as well.
Could you put your sap lines in a conduit so the squirrels can't get to them? In other worlds a tub within another larger tub. Your video is very interesting. Thank you. Bruce
How’s your season been going their year? It’s shaping up to be a short one for us on the north side of Lake Erie. Tapping was about a week later and no freezes forecasted after this week.
right now we are only at a quarter of the crop compared to last year. And this year our sugar content is much higher so the season has not been good to us so far
Why a utility knife instead of a side cutter when you're splicing in a connector. Cold hands and an open blade? .. yeah .. that looks like stitches looking for a place to happen ... love the the "clamp" though...ingenious

The maple water is great to drink by itself, and if you use it to make coffee it gives you twice the perk

Thanks so much for watching! Most people don’t realize the amount of work that going into producing maple syrup!
Naughty squirrels.
I love your channel, and your smile 😃
You are a force . A great force , setting example for others to aspire too.
Amazing process, you must love squirrel season!!!

Do deer or bears get tangled up in the lines?
Have you ever considered marrying a pancake baron, so your empires can be joined?
No wonder you’re in such fantastic shape. Blown away by the whole process. Reminds of those pesky Woodchuck commercials. 😂😂
You made that look like fun. Good video
Most days are enjoyable, sure beats working in an office everyday!

Just found your Channel really enjoying your videos, you do an excellent job, thank you for sharing
I bet you’re glad to finally start seeing some bare ground in those fields. Our snow pack in the woods is about the same as you guys. 👊🇺🇸
The bare ground sure makes the walking easier!
Sure glad I found you, very interesting God Bless.
Welcome! Thank you for checking out my channel!
Thinking a squirrel hunt might do ya some good. 😊
wooww this is nice to see. in sweden we dont have this Maple Farms what i now

Roast squirrel is delicious, they really enjoy peanut butter. Just saying! BTW, corn fattened are the best!
Do you feed them peanut butter before you roast them for added flavor ? LMAO !
Stupid question, they don’t make some kind of metal wrap for the lines near the trees to keep the animals from biting them?
I use a pvc cutter for the smaller lines I think its quicker and safer
I just got some knipex tonight that I'll be using in the future! I have had enough with accidentally cutting my fingers! lol

That'd get expensive FAST! Sugaring is already super expensive as is, which is why syrup costs what it does. But it's a lot of fun.
4:44, ouch, don't cut like that, lol!
love your video
You sure do put a lot of work into maintaining your lines. Do you tap only Sugar Maples or are there other trees you tap as well?
Do you guys have a squirrel hunt days ?
Hey, Cool, like your shirt. I have a Shield and a 15. You don't have a squirrel season?
We do I just haven't really hunted them
Hey Nikki,
Cool to see how you make it happen and the hard work you do!
Did you receive my last comment from your last video?

U mean sugar content is lower this year than last. We're running about .5 lower
Damn those squirrels. Don't they got any nuts to chew on? 😅
But on the other hand it's good to walk around and inspect everything.
It’s nice just being in nature!
Fascinating industry. Great job explaining all this. A ol fat boy like me could use all the walking you did. LoL.
Thank you so much for watching! I have a tendency to be more informative than entertaining! 😂
@@MapleFarmer That's good, people look for someone to be informative and less of a show boat on here.
very interesting and little compliments that I follow you'
DARN Squirrel City.....
I wonder if there's something you could coat the lines with that would dissuade the critters from chewing? Something organic like hot sauce :3
that sounds like more work than fixing them as there is 175 miles of line and after a rain it would just wash away
Do you have trouble with deer navigating thru the lines?
no, we just have trouble with them chewing on the lines
Are you running Gould’s Pumps??
Man, ur easy on the eyes, wow!
Why a utility knife instead of a side cutter when you're splicing in a connector. Cold hands and an open blade? .. yeah .. that looks like stitches looking for a place to happen ... love the the "clamp" though...ingenious
Yea I just got knipex
Nikki how muck for a jar of your Maple sugar? and do you sell it online?
Yup online at Boxlermaple.com
Can the sap freeze in the lines if it gets below 32°F?
Yes it can
👍
You need steel braided lines
We’ve had to take matters into our own hands with the squirrels in our bush. Way too much damage from them
Who's shooting your lines with shotguns??
Someone hunting those squirrels!!
Come and find my leaks.. i,ve walked enough tubing to last me a life time..haha we currently have 1850 tapped.
Walking is a new ending job!
👍
