- Today we look at the state of Pattaya right now and I try to do what I can to help out. We will purchase 3 truck loads of fresh cut brush for elephants and prepare 52 bags of food to be given out on beach road. Will the small acts of kindness continue to see Pattaya through it's darkest hour?

You are living your life that you no doubt worked very hard for and over many years. you spend money on Thai hotel and condo, rent/buy motor bike, car. You spend money in restaurants, on food for you and your household. You travel and spend. You can not solve all the problems there, as frustrating as it can be to see the poverty, stress, homeless, etc. that is there. Kudos for trying to help.

Yeah, since they don't have tourists imagine what it would be like if they didn't have any foreigners at all living there, eating, generally spending money made elsewhere.

top work!!!, i have just arrived in thailand in quarantine at the moment and had already set aside B20000 to help some of the homeless and those struggling through the covid crisis.. we have been really well looked after in the UK and my thai wife and i want to spread the love a little!! I went straight to bkk because i am here for family but i doubt there would be much difference paperwork wise...there is a lot required but pretty straightforward and not expensive..but flights are a fair bit more costly than pre pandemic...the word on the grapevine is that phuket is operating pretty normally..
It is going to be very difficult keeping up with feeding the elephants without the tourists money. Literally a mammoth task. God bless you for helping when you can.
If things are not going to be better for Tourism in Thailand then , those elephants should be taken to their habitat and released. IMO
Elephants are walked all over Thailand, it has nothing to do with tourists. Just like there is a sex industry in every town. a.k.a. karaoke bars.

Well it's a place where one buys all sorts of sex... Pattaya is known for that. Mostly ThaIland have sex tourists in their millions. So the govt, the people and the locals as much as the sex maniacs are respinsible for this ..

Last year we raised 6500 US to help the locals. We have helped somewhat throughout the year but now have another 10,000 US to help as it's much worse. We live in Nakhon Sawan.

Always great to see help for the locals that are doing it so hard, but this is not a long term solution, they can’t get by on the generosity of others, surely it’s time for local governments to help their own. I hope something is done to help sooner rather than later. 👍

It is sad to see the animals chained, and going hungry. Elephants by nature are huge foragers and roam for miles. To be chained and getting hunger pains but not being able to do anything about it, to me is a living hell. I have been to Thailand 15 times and would have no problem if all those beasts were returned to the wild, huge preserves set up. Then have tours or pre -prepared viewing spots that are safe as a way to make some money. But cramped in a zoo.. Hate to see it
I have to agree. Captive breeding continues these domesticated elephants lives. Sanctuaries are ok but not elephants for entertainment/zoo. They suffer so humans can making a living. It's sad really.
Oh yeah set them free so they can TRAMPLE villages and homes like those elephants are doing in CHINA, thats smart😕

Sad to say tourists are to blame, tourists want to come and ride elephants and locals who lost their jobs logging in the forests are happy to oblige. As he said breaking and using elephants have been going on for hundreds of years in this part of the world. Similar in the west breaking and training of race horses for the pleasure of people.

It's so sad, thank you for doing something to help those in need. It's unbelievable that some people go on various Facebook groups and claim that Pattaya is amazing now and there are no hungry or homeless people around.

That was not a good sign seeing that elephant swaying from side to side like that. It is a shame what’s happening there but it’s going to get a lot worse the longer tourists can’t go there.
Thanks for bringing this up. Also doing something by yourself is great, really great. But gathering others help would even be better and greater. I usually donate $10-$20. But this time I will put up USD160. $60 for the elephants and $100 for the people of Pattaya. Just let me know how please?

One of the Lao vloggers I follow set a up a donation link raised a hell of a lot from his followers to help out there. Is it something you guys would have the time to do. I would happy to send a little over to help people eat. I'm sure there would be many others here who would hurts to see one of my favourite places on the planet hurt so much.

Thais appear to be more disciplined than other uncivilized people from other countries that go crazy and start fighting each other for free food and other stuff even though people are told to line up and get organized properly. I respect Thai culture. Very similar to Japanese who are very similar with a more disciplined behavior.

It's really heartbreaking to see nice Thai people suffering like this. But they need to step up for themselves. They need to stop worshipping that king of theirs who sits on billions while his people are starving and take what belongs to them already. Handing out food is not a solution.
