- Britain’s Chief Rabbi has told ITV News that the Jewish community in the UK are more fearful for their safety than at any time since the end of World War II.
Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, who is also the Chief Rabbi of the Commonwealth, said rising antisemitism was causing “very deep pain”.

As a Christian it breaks my heart to see such suffering and hatred on both sides, but it has to be said that to deprive an entire population of food, water, fuel and power to run essential services and then flatten their homes and communities with bombs because of the actions of a few is barbaric.. Lets not forget also that there is a long standing Christian community in Gaza, part of which is a large established hospital, which was bombed killing many many people. If it became necessary, I would stand guard outside either a synagogue or a mosque to protect those inside. I would hope to see Muslims standing at my shoulder outside a synagogue too and likewise Jews standing beside me outside a mosque. I don't deal with absolutes of good or evil but I've never been religious.

I don't quite understand why anyone would want to hurl insults at anyone who happens to be Jewish in London because of what Israel is doing in Gaza. But, let's be honest, when Israel sells itself as the quintessential emblem of Judaism, and Jewish leaders in this country are clearly happy to run with that message, it's not going to help matters in the profanities department.

I am heartened to see how many Jewish people are out there protesting for Palestine. It gives me hope and would not put all Jews as the same. In every faith you’ll find the extremists and a lot of these so called religious people are hateful. If you read the verses that follow, the people did 'turn their backs', they mocked their prophet and refused to enter due to fear of the people already living there. So the land was forbidden for them for 40 years. That was the situation for those people at that time. God will not give a land to a people forever just because of their race regardless of how corrupt they are? In the end, God will give the land to those who obey him and uphold his laws. Jews have no right to the land both religiously and historically.
