It never did. It revolves around GoH tournament. First saga to the second was the tournament. Third saga was the consequences that follows the notoriety from that tournament. Fourth saga is the tournament under new management. Fifth is the true purpose behind that tournament. Sixth is the regulation of fighters by the evaluation from that tournament as well as to weed out certain fighters
Theres the introductions and the football part and that's it, the only times they're actually in highschool

Because that would be a dick move to asking Japan for adapting the work whilst the work insulted them ( not as bad as most China's donghua , but it's still there )
and honestly , SL's main selling point is the art , story is generic.
I can’t see SL turning out well with the quality dips later into the series and the heavy nationalism that gets featured. It had the possibility of turning into an SAO clone that could stunt future adaptations. Since if manga is sushi Manwah and webtoons are fast food normally. But sometimes they’re amazing

Honestly, as much as I recognize Tower of God's scenario as subtle and interesting, I didn't "enjoy" this adaptation, unlike God of Highschool. ToG was 100% heavy and depressing (I'm saying this as a depressed person who loves tragedies) while GoH was like... "WTF is this? Where is the high school? Why is everyone so cool?" and I laughed so much at the end. 100% well done!

Say what you want about the atrocious pacing of the anime adaptation of the comic, you can’t deny this opening theme and MAPPA’s animators are the saving grace of it.
what if i told you when i watched the first episode of this, i played the intro four times in a row. this is how you open an anime. I wish more anime did this type of intro. as for the anime, i will give it another chance. that first episode didn't make a good impression on me. you can't thrust me into the story without any kind of backstory to start it.
