Laura is the next Mike Rowe. Thank you for showing us the America that too many of us take for GRANTed!
That is an insane operation. Best line ever... "Look.. a rock in the wild !!". That is just so hilarious.
I live in Georgia, we have what is, the largest exposed granite monolith, in the united states, "Stone Mountain"
It's outreach covers, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, and some parts of Florida,
that's ah lot of rock. With Georgia Red Clay, and rock everywhere, digging anything is ah bugger !
Thank you to all of you farmers out there, big and small!!🙏 we are very spoiled to have you.
I'm blown away with how clean this place is. This family goes beyond to get this product out for us. I've never seen anything like this. Just very impressed
Mega farms are prohibited in the European union... they still are studying for zoonosis
They have to be clean or they can't sell their milk into the coop/market...
its a dairy it has to be as clean as or noone would buy the milk would you drink milk that was in a dirty dairy where shit goes into your milk?
Dairy farmers get inspected and have to be clean.
That must be it!!!!
Love how you're eyes light up when you are learning new things.
Great to see they are using the methane to power the farm plus 7k homes!
How amazing is that? I had no idea farms were even doing that.
Wow!! What a set up!! Very impressive.
@@snappingbear Sadly, you'll never hear about it thru regular media outlets. All you ever hear from them is how evil agriculture is & how cattle must be fitted with catalytic converters immediately or we'll all die 😂😂😂 I never heard such ridiculous rubbish in my life!
@@acemobile9806 its so crazy. Agriculture is evil and people who eat cows are evil but if everyone in the world turned vegan all you would see is Agriculture land and it still wouldn't be enough to sustain the US. Not to mention we would have nothing to trade for export cause we would need all the grains and vegetables and stuff so prices of good we trade for will also ski rocket along with food prices. Vegans need to stop pushing that eating meat is so evil cause they won't like a world where everyone is vegan. So stfu and let me eat me lol. Dirty libs
Since they have the methane generators, why do they need the diesel generator in the milking operation?
It is such a pleasure to watch You Laura and Grant. I am sure You Two make Your Families Proud. That is some operation. I am 71 yrs old and the Dairies of my Youth are a far cry from todays operations. Thanks for this opportunity to come along on Your tours.
LOL, the dairies of my youth were completely manual! Had to lug the unit over to the cow, plug it into the vacuum line, wipe the utter, place the suckers and then haul the can to the vat and dump it when full...
Labor intense occupations.
Thank you Laura and Grant for showing that New York is not just New York city!
amen!
This is in my top 10 of all videos ever watched, thank you Laura Farms.
I'm glad these folks let you video this four us. Man a serious operation here. I'm still shaking my head at how clean it and organized it is here. So so cool
Looks very clean
Thanks again today for the tour. And a special thanks to the Sunnyside farm family for taking the time to give you all the tour.
What an awesome operation!
They both seem so all American 👍 Laura’s smile is like sunshine on a rainy day. Great video guys.
21 century
That is an amazing operation! And it was obvious that Grant could not stop smiling when he was checking out the machinery. Fantastic tour! Thank you very much.
@John
Hello how are you doing today
I'm an "over the road" general freight trucker, which means I get to drive all over this beautiful Country of ours.
I have driven day after day for many years past similar operations when in Dairy country and also in corn country like you and Grant farm.
I'm from a more urban and suburban type community so I'm always fascinated just to drive through these type of places and attempt to imagine what I can't see at high speed glance, such as how the day to day operations and the lives of these people and the time and tasks that they perform on a daily basis.
Thank you for taking the time to perform these highly detailed and informative tours, and providing us "average Joe" type folks like myself an opportunity to see how it all works.
That methane redistribution was purely mind blowing!!!! I’ve only ever heard about how bad cow farms are with producing methane. That’s such an amazing process definitely want to look into more. Amazing content as always, thank you Laura and Grant!
All you've heard is the blather from the environmentalists. If there's a dime to be saved or made, the farmers in this country will find it.
one of the best lessons from a multi-discipline agriculture operation - no matter WHAT the disciplines are - is learning where things come from... (I have relatives who, for many years, had no idea how milk & bread got to the grocery store in their neighborhood shopping center)
The stork...when he wasn't delivering babies....had side jobs of course.
Such a cool tour! I wish the general public would understand and appreciate just how much of a technological marvel a modern dairy farm is; it's nothing short of miraculous.
Makes my old 10 stall herringbone look stone age :D
No!....we prefer to believe in the milk fairy!😠
That operation is just mind boggling. All the cattle look very very happy.
Except for the boy cows...
@@Snarkapotamus boy cows?
@@Jesse_andrew - Go to ANY dairy farm and count the boys. You may find a bull or two, but the rest have been turned into veal, steaks and hamburgers! The don't give milk and they don't have babies so...
@@Snarkapotamus im a dairy farmer actually, do you have any ideas of what could be done with the boy calves?
@@Jesse_andrew - Of course I do and already stated as much. Tell me you keep them all hanging around, incurring the cost to feed and shelter simply because you like how they look and I'll show you a hobby farm..
WOW WOW WOW 🤩 The Dairy Farm is CAA-RAA-ZZY AWESOME!!!! I haven’t seen that twinkle ⭐️ in Grant’s eyes since your wedding day. 😆 He looked so happy around that enormous equipment. This was a super cool video! I loved seeing every second of it. Thank you for sharing all this info. Love ❤️ you guys, Grammy
Happy Birthday Grant
That dairy farm is absolutely beautiful. Not to mention all of that beautiful machinery. Fantastic video. Loved it
Laura, this was one of the best videos I have seen on dairy farming. Great job Well Done.
I can't get over how clean and organized everything is. They must have a huge janitorial staff. This farm operation is gigantic and contrary to the anti-dairy propaganda I have seen, the animals there look very clean, healthy and happy. Thanks for the great tour.
FABULOUS VIDEO!! I've never seen anything like this before. Nice to see America being so productive and modern.
So clean and so well run. I can't imagine how hard it is to keep everything so clean
Robots.
Thanks for taking us through a wonderful tour of Sunnyside Dairy! Great job on the video.
YOU FOLKS JUST GOT A MORE THAN A MILLION DOLLAR TOUR! ENJOYED IT ALOT! THANKS!
Just amazingly fascinating to an old city dweller.
I really appreciate you opening this window to a life I never knew existed and I have come to envy.
We've come along way. When I was in high school we use to walk beside flat bed trailers and toss what seemed like an endless row of bale's up by hand to two guys stacking massive piles up. I'm happy for the people who will never experience that.
The coolest vid you two have ever put together! Very funny: " look... a rock in the wild"... Lol! Living in Florida, we also have no rocks! Lol!
Thanks for the mmmaaasssiiivvveee farm tour n Grant's " tool shed " tour.... too funny maybe 3!
You both have BIG operations at home, in NY, monster sized!
Have more fun, stay safe..n keep on sharing as you can!
Thanks!
Let's be real, I clicked on a video way back when because of the green eyes lol but now I look forward to seeing grant lol
Thanks for the heart grant! 😊
Ok, I'm a "manly man" but couldn't agree more. These two are certainly attractive in so many ways and has little to do with looks. Their personalities are addictive.
@@chrisanthony579 exactly right
Nope it's her eye's the way they sparkle every time she smiles which is often lol I think they both be great folks to know and work with.
I'm a 6th grade Science teacher and plan on using your video for technology and energy chapters. Thanks!
You and Grant were so funny when you found a rock in the field. There are plenty of rocks in every field here in S.W. Virginia. God bless.
I'm in S.W. Virginia. We've been gardening the some plot for 30 years and still find rocks every time we plow.
Thanks for sharing your tour with me. The methane powered generators were interesting.
Thanks for sharing this great trip to the New York Farm show and the visit to the farms. It was an incredible learning for a 67 year old fart from Edmonton Alberta Canada. You guys are great together and show such amazing interest and passion for the Ag industry. Keep up the shows I am alway so very impressed to see the amazing insight to the internal workings of the Ag Industry. There is a lot more to it than grumpy old farmers who always complain. Love it love it love it
The Snap On tool box has the tall cabinet on it so that you have somewhere to live while you pay it off
lol! sad but true!
I was a farm boy in New York! Those were such great days in my youth. I didn't notice where you were in New York but I was in a place called Afton. We were surrounded by dairy farms. We had a cattle farm and sheep. Some of the very best days of my life.
This is so cool! I live a few hours from there and have had Sunnyside farms milk. I was excited along with you guys, thanks for bringing us along!!
Thanks for visiting that farm very interesting
Wow, this was all very cool Laura. Would be neat to hear more about the methane digester system and the generators. I could tell Grant was really enjoying himself.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANT!!! Never seen you so excited as you were with all that equipment. Must have been best birthday ever.
Amazing, especially the cow merry go round.
Wow what a set up of this dairy farm. Unreal how modern and nice and efficiently it works. Thank you for sharing this operation with us. So they grow their own feed for their dairy farm and markets? Unreal to see all this. Happy Birthday Grant. All the best!
Those methane digesters are soooo good for the environment. Like methane is brutally bad for the atmosphere and this eliminates so much of that problem. Pretty awesome stuff!! I wish more people saw this!
This is so cool ! We think farmers provide food but who would have ever thought about farmers providing power !! How cool is that ??!!
Laura,Grant, great video and educational showing the differences of the types and areas of the country. They are doing a good service with the manure digester and suppling there electrical needs and the needs of others. This shows the ingenuity to achieve the success of this dairy farm. This trip will surely give you some great memories and experiences.
Thank you so much for sharing your day at Sunny side farm . It was truly mind blowing at all the modern technology and at the environmental friendly things being done.
Every politician that says farming is determintal to the environment should watch this video.
That was one of the coolest farm videos I’ve ever seen! I watch a lot of farm videos from several different youtubers - Cole, Petersons, Millennial, Dodge brothers, etc.
Laura and Grant’s enthusiasm is infectious!!
Also to “return” approximately 10megawatts to the grid is A LOT of power. 😊
Agree with the enthusiasm. Her eyes are what drew me in and the enthusiasm is what made me a subscriber. :)
I’m not even a farmer but I want every single piece of equipment you just showed. I’d be in heaven. But Laura and Grant would have to come to South Carolina to show me how to operate the tractors
Gives such an appreciation of dairy farms
I'm a retired diary farmer from New Zealand and that farm blew me away. There are guys here that milk 7 oe 8000 cows here but not on one farm like this. Ausom.
I love what your whole family does,it gives me a lot of insight on how farming works and the modern technology that comes with it..I look forward for more of your videos here in Texas..
I use to deliver antifreeze, and oil at this farm for Williams Lubricants! When you were standing in front of the digester building. I was like. Hey! That is where I parked my truck when I made my deliveries. It was really cool getting a tour of what all goes on there. Thank you
Fantastic video of a real eye opening look at a professional dairy farm ! Thank you Laura and Grant and all the folks at Sunnyside Farms! Really enjoyed it. Keep up your great work!
Awesome!!! You guys couldn't stop smiling !!! Thank you for taking us along. Simply amazing farm. Happy Birthday Grant!!
That was an incredible tour! That may be your single most informative video ever! A lot of information was packed in there. Meanwhile, down here in the Mississippi Delta, the field corn harvest has begun...
Fantastic visit thanks !!! i miss living next to the farm when i was growing up, always had so much fun. i had pigs to my right and horses to my left lol fun times.
HOLY COW (pun intended) What a HUGH farm. I'm glad you and Grant are having so much fun.
This was amazing to watch! Remember going in & watching my Uncle milk, like 15 cows at a time, back in the '60's. This place blew me away. And using the methane the way they are...wow! Thanks for sharing it with us. Happy Birthday Grant!
From someone who drinks 2 pints a day, I love seeing happy cows
As a NYC kid from the Bronx - it is very beautiful to see how the farm life is. The place is amazing, clean and you can tell a lot of hard work goes into it. Very educational. Truly appreciative! 🙏
Absolutely amazing !! Technology bring n cold quality milk to your kitchen table !! Great Video !!
Wow! I've never seen a "cowasel" before? Neat idea! Looked like the cows enjoyed the cool ride, the food and getting that milk out? Only thing missing was playing soft music for them to enjoy! LOL! Really efficient and the place was super clean too much like NY Farmgirl's place was.
Thanks so much for showing us those huge working dairy farms! AWESOME! Mega farming costing mega bucks! We have similar technology at my work with digesters that make methane gas from waste to run our equipment.
Grant had a kid on Christmas morning smile looking at all of that awesome machinery! I would have done the same if I were there and I did watching the video. Just think Laura, you have potential video material from different types of farming all across the land. Wheat/grain, cotton, hemp, tobacco, animals, fish, trees, etc. and more. I'm sure that such farmers everywhere would be glad to show you how they do it just like NY Farmgirls and their friends? Endless possibilities for more videos and visits to other states!
Thank you Grant for showing close up of The methane power generators, blow's my mind the number of hrs on them engine's.I wonder how often the oil changed on them? That's gotta be a lot of oil for 24 7 run time.
They are very clean burning engines and the reason why they last so long is the engines are diesels converted too menthane so they are built very heavy too begin with. Menthane isn't as hard on the internal components as diesel fuel is.
The oil is most likely on an analysis program where they take a sample from a port while it runs and send it off to a lab to determine if the oil needs changing. Kind of like AMSOIL does.
@@beckyumphrey2626 yep the drain interval's are probably quite long unless there's an issue
I grew up on a small dairy farm in Kentucky. We averaged about 50 cows. This operation is just a tad bigger. LOL We started out milking about 15 cows by hand and separating the cream and milk and sold it to Pet Milk company. Remember the 5-10 gallon milk cans? Then, in 1956, we got the glass pipeline milking system. What an improvement.
Rock pickers, we used to hire college kids and go out in our fields and pick up just the 2 hand rocks that came to the surface as the ground froze and thawed, we'd spread out 8 people wide behind a dump truck and pick until it was full, now we use those giant rollers that you walked past to punch them back underground as we have all converted to rotary mowers for swathing hay and they need a flat surface (which the roller provides) to swathe across. We have so many rocks that when the big farmers go after the rocks on a plowed and disced field they windrow the rocks and come in with a "rock picker" that picks and then conveyers the rocks into a dump truck, you can actually see the surface of the ground lower 1/2 an inch as all those rocks are taken off the field. Those tracked trackers have less compaction (you can't see where they drove in the crop) and way smoother ride across the field.
We have a digester in rural davenport iowa & recently a scuba diver passed away servicing it. I have no doubt sunnyside farms would never have something like that happen. Dangerous technical work made to look easy by professionals. Easily my favorite video by laura farms. & you even got a pivot/rock reference in!
Farming meets technmology: thisa is a very cool video. Thanks for sharing all these impressions.
Growing up in Iowa at my grandfather’s farm was so archaic to this. Everything was manually done (1950’s).
Man I sure seen some cool stuff today ! such a clean place ! Just couldn't imagine how much all that stuff cost. Another great video. I seem to learn something new every time I see you guys :)
Watching Grant geek out over the machinery was kinda awesome.
To build that set-up from scratch for everything would be about $90 million dollars. Starting with a flat piece of ground.
Not too bad for around 2 million in milk and 3.6 million in electric sales a year based on what they said in the video!
This farm is just 4 miles from my Mom and Dads home. Grow up in this community, Cayuga County. this family is a fantastic family. When I was young, I walked all the hills of this farm. Thanks for visiting my home town.
Hello Laura from Germany. 😃
Laura...
Not that any of your videos are bad, but this is the absolute BEST video you have put out so far.
Outstanding and a mechanical/electrical geeks dream come true.
Awesome...
The smile that lit up New York
As an old flight instructor. I cant fly anymore do to diabetes but I have wonderful memories. I can see you have "the fly bug" so don't delay. The farm needs a pilot and plane !! Think of a plane as just another tractor that goes faster. Think of all the farm activities you could go to. Good luck, with your attitude and intelligence you can do it. Then you too can have those great memories.
Great to see a digester in operation. I spent several years obsessed with anaerobic digesters. I like that they are drying the solids to use for bedding as well. Those carousel milking operations are interesting to watch as well.
Wow! I can’t believe the size and integration in this site. Areal learning. Happy belated birthday Grant!
Worked at a dairy farm in Saskatchewan one summer years ago. Nothing that elaborate. Nothing better than fresh cold milk in the morning for breakfast.
That's is an amazing operation, had love to see that in IRL. Thanks Laura and Grant for showing this I enjoyed to see it and you and Grant is so great to explain what we see.
No wonder Grant had a happy birthday! It's like dropping into the middle of a Farm Simulator game with all the big equipment! Quite an operation!!
Grant look like a kid @ Christmas time looking @ those machines! Awesome dairy farm!
Can not express the gratitude I have for you, grant, empire farm days, RUclips for giving you the platform to show all farmers are very important in doing their part to be green even dairy and how clean and well kept animals are
I've never seen an operation quite like this before. I'm absolutely blown away by Sunnyside Farm!!!
Like kids in ah candy store. Never seen Grant, & Laura, smile so much. I couldn't stop smiling, watching you guys.
Did I learn a lot ? Give me ah test, I'll ace it. Love the cow,🐄🐄 merry-go-round 🐄🐄, and pumping station, and
those two huge generators, and can sell power back, awesome ! Heard methane was ending the world, they seem
to have ah pretty good handle on it. Laura, this "is" one of your best videos ever. Thanks for letting us tag along on
the tour, see ya'll back home on the farm. ❣💓❣
I watched that with a big smile on my face. And I no nothing about farming. But can appreciate cool tools and equipment. Love your enthusiasm. It’s contagious. New subscriber now.
For years I hauled feed to small and huge farms like this for Kalmbach Feeds Inc. The first time I saw one of these massive carousel milking operations I was in awe. The yummy feed that we delivered made them happy cows while they rode the wheel.😁
We also delivered to totally automated milk barns that had "Robot" milkers that read the cow's tags to let them in if they haven't been milked...a really cool process and technology.
When I was a kid I thought milking 80 head twice a day was something...things sure change.
Farmer from Iowa. Things have come along way from a 5 gallon bucket. Amazing vid.
This was a very educational video. I bet Grant was in farm machinery heaven. That was the coolest operation I had ever seen. Everything was so clean. The silage pits were hug. God bless and stay safe
How things have changed in the last 50 years as I was shown round a state of the art dairy farm when I was a boy as my Dad left school at 14 to be a farmer and although he had a change of career he was always interested in farming and we grew up on one of the biggest farming estates in Scotland so he had plenty of chances to see farming practice's on a frequent basis and would take me along. My longest term friendship is a farmer of cereal, beef and sheep but on a very small scale. Thanks for indulging me in a passion that I wanted a career in but I ended up in Banking.
I grew up on a dairy farm and watched my grandfather milk cows by hand. I think this is just a little bit better. Lol!! He did have very big hands, he could beat you to death with his thumbs if he wanted. But he was a very kind and gentle soul. Loved your video he would be very impressed. Thanks.
Great video. What a difference in work ethic between rural and urban America. People have no clue how products gets to shelves and the cost involved
Thank you Sunnyside Farms 💖💖💖 #SUPPORTFARMERS #SUPPORTTHEFARMERS #FARMERS
From a former farm boy in western WI...absolutely fascinating Laura! Thank you for the effort putting this together...
we farmed NE of Bismarck ND. Every year we had to drag the rock picker around. massive piles of rock. when we left the farm in 1986, the last tractor we had was a 1973 John Deere 4620 with a loader and duals. it did everything we needed it to do.
Wow! I had no idea an operation like that existed. Compared with the neighbors on the farm across the roads from ours when I grew up (40s and 50s) that milked 50 cows, that place is on another planet. Agriculture has undergone an amazing evolution in my life time. From farmers that still used horses to what's in this video. Thank you very much for sharing this with us. Well done.
Happy Birthday to Grant, what a cool place for gift ideas, make sure Laura receives many hints.lol
Nothing more fun that watching people be super enthusiastic about stuff. Grant looks so happy
Also happy birthday to him :)
Thanks for your chanel. I'm almost blind now from a freak stroke. I got very sick with the flu. So this is pretty much the only way I can see things. Pause, rewind and watch again to try and grasp what you're doing. It's very helpful that you explain what your doing to help me understand what I'm looking at .
I have never seen a milking operation this big. Then all of the machinery, which is kept up very nice. Everything was all first class. The owners are very fussy about their operation, which I like to see
