Your great grandmother? OK. 100 years ago, there were no limits on migration. You got off the boat, spent a day on Ellis Island, and then you were welcomed as a new resident with freedom to work, move anywhere in the country, buy property, etc. Five years later, you signed some papers and were a citizen. Sounds like that's the system you want to go back to?

"Welfare as we think of it today didn’t exist for our ancestors. But other assistance was available: Immigrant aid societies and charitable organizations, including the YMCA, YWCA, Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society and Salvation Army, had representatives on Ellis Island. They helped new arrivals with funds, employment, living arrangements, transportation, education and more.
Such groups continued the assistance from offices in cities across the country. The Legal Aid Society, for example, began in 1876 in New York City as Der Deutscher Rechts-Schutz Verein (The German Legal Aid Society) to represent Germans against their employers’ corrupt labor practices. The Order Sons of Italy in America established orphanages and offered scholarships and death benefits. And just like the native-born, immigrants accepted the services of county poor farms, state hospitals and other government organizations."

🕵 No, they can do either/or. For example, Vietnamese "boat people" in the late 70s and 80s after Communists takeover. Geographically and nautically, they couldn't reach Western countries by boats so when they landed in nearby countries like Malaysia, Philippines, HongKong, they were able to ask for asylum and stayed in refugee camps for months (at first) to years later on while waiting for their immigration applications to be approved by Western countries. But many stayed and became local citizens too. As for today, we ARE paying Mexico to house and feed migrants while waiting for their application to be adjudicated by US, but because of the close proximity to US, many rather go directly here and wait than wait in Mexico, just like Cuban refugees went directly to Florida after Communist Castro took over their home.

They throw away their ID's because many were already living in South or Central America. This is the way to get them in under Biden because almost none of these people would legally qualify for Asylum. If we leave our children alone in a hotel for 3 days or beat our spouse on the streets, we go to jail. They are allowed to commit crimes, no jail and they remain in the country. They all want to come to the U.S. because those countries aren't handing out $500 a night hotel rooms, ebt and visa cards. For years they have been herded into Black working class communities and all the resources in those communities were rerouted to immigrants. Much of the crime in NY come from immigrant communities where the people look like the cross section of the U.S.! The people are fed up because they commit crimes and the national media rarely call them out even though they know they were never vetted and come from the top 10 crime countries in the U.S.! No matter what anyone says about Trump he pulled us out of The Migrant Pact and focused on U.S. Citizens. As soon as Biden took office the U.S. this destructive practice initiated under the Obama Administration was put back in place. We are being FORCED to support millions of people when our own are going without! When everyone understand it is us who have no other country to go to. Maybe we all understand that as citizens of this country we need politicians in office that focus is on U.S. and it's citizens. Stop sending Aid to those countries who fail to take care of their own citizens. Illegal Immigration have been going on for 40 years. Now the goal is overwhelm our entire system!

@@elmosweed4985that is a lie. Look up the methodology. I did because I couldn't figure out how the numbers were so different that others I'd seen. They take out all education costs which is one of the biggest ticket items under illegal immigration and they ignore any welfare that they receive based off an anchor baby (even though the anchor baby doesn't exist if they are stopped so obviously that is an expense related to illegal immigration) and they make broad assumptions to maximize what they project are the taxes paid in. They also count economic value of their work so if a boss hires them off the books and he would have hired American they say well that work produced economic value to the business of x. You don't see that, I don't see and the government doesn't see that so why would that count. The real number is $150 BILLION NET negative.

"We've been forced to play an unsustainable game of whack-a-mole, opening site after site as asylum seekers continue to arrive by the thousand", said Mayor Eric Adams.
The city cuts expenses in vulnerable places to get billions for Asylum Seekers.
The cost of housing migrants in NYC is extraordinary - "We are past the breaking point" - NYC projects a $12 billion migrant bill.
Detailed single bill: $383 per night, including food, housing, and medical care (free for migrants), said Mayor Adams on August the 9th.
Adams says the city plans to trim services such as library hours, meals for senior citizens, re-entry programming for Rikers Island prisoners, and free, full-day care for three-year-olds to manage those expenses.
Now NYC is considering housing migrants in tents in CENTRAL PARK - as 500 flood into the city every day.
The plan also considers 3,000 locations in New York, including tourist public green spaces, as places to erect emergency housing for the migrants.
Deputy Mayor Anne Williams-Isaom said 'Everything is on the table'.

Also, a medical exam is required before one can be interviewed by the Consul. How many of the "asylum seekers" (asylum from what?) were medically examined?
I also came here legally after waiting for years in my country of origin (blessing in disguise, since it gave me time to prepare financially and with work experience) and never got any benefits from the government when I lived as a lawful permanent resident (now a citizen).
Illegals back then lined up somewhere for work and waited. Now, illegals are being housed and provided for and expect benefits and privileges from the government. They get Ubers, cell phones, housing, etc.? Ridiculous.

🕵 1) We need to *vastly increase the numbers of judges and adjudicators* so these migrants cases can be decided ASAP instead of months/yrs away. The longer they stay here, the more likely they'd stayed, legally or not. 2) *Current asylum laws need to change as they are left over from the Cold War and a bipolar world* when borders were closed and only chance to leave was secretly escaped. Political dissidents, intellectuals, artists, athletes, scientists, etc., were allowed to seek asylum anytime they reached Democratic soil. Most migrants today, however, technically don't qualify for asylum and should apply/wait for legal immigration, business/students visa, etc., from their home countries like most everyone else. 3) Their demands for "asylum" and for us to accept them without proper legal channels/ID/paperworks is only making US feel angry and unsympathetic towards them despite their plights.

    • @pohanahawaii
      @pohanahawaii 9 месяцев назад +3

@@chairmanofthebored8684 : 🙄 You're the one who don't know what you're talking about. As already explained in depth, the migrants made their way here to claim "asylum" because the laws allowed anyone to reach Democratic soil to do so. Whether they're actually qualified for asylum is another matter after their dates in Court. This is because during Cold War, it was impossible for people in Communist countries to apply in their homeland or leave for any reason, much like N.Korea is now. Hence people like Balanchine, Nureyev, Baryshnikov to name a few came to western Europe first (to perform) then claimed asylum and stayed. They, however, qualified because not only did we have ample proof of who they were, sending them back to USSR at the time would've meant certain punishment and/or death. The migrants today are more economic than political. Don't really qualify but that's up to the judges to decide. Hence we should get them seen/heard ASAP by swearing in MANY more judges and adjudicators to go over their cases.

@@jenniferlee8507 : Unless asylum laws are changed and/or scrapped altogether, that's how it legally stands for over half a century, not just in US, but across the "Free World". That takes more judges and investigators. Then they can be deported if don't qualified.
