This is by far the best video I've seen on this car. Good practical assessment of the driving experience, and shows some neat features nobody else mentioned. This video alone tells me much more on whether or not I would want this car than most of the others combined. Thanks a lot, and keep up the good content! ^^

It's a nice looking car Charlie and I do like how the screen doesn't look like a tablet that's been tacked on as an afterthought, Also really like the look of the maroon coloured leather seats something really different from grey or black all the time and she looks like she handles a dream, yet another great review Thank You!

I live at SoCal, as a 17 niro owner my car have 35k miles now. The new 2020 design looks good but another then that nothing brings more excited. Compare to Toyota selling tons or ugly Prius out there, the niro needs to be more aggressive on both exterior design and interior gadget adding. My recommendation were make all the safety feature become standard, seat cooling system standard, electric seat adjust and memory seat standard. If Kia Gives these feature as standard I’m sure this car will sell lot more that the Prius.

I own an '18 LX, my first hybrid vehicle, and the Niro has made me a hybrid convert - the highest compliment I could give it. I like the refreshed front end of the '20 model, and the new instrument / dashboard layout as well. I also like the color - the 2018 "Deep Cerulian" was an ugly blue, so ugly that I bought a red Niro instead - the lighter blue on this test car is, to my eyes at least, much more pleasant. It's a great little car, 0.5 second slower to 60 mph than a Mazda3, 0.5 second faster to 60 mph than a Subaru Crosstrek, but, at least in my part of the USA, it's not advertised. TV ads don't even mention it. Kia marketing is missing the boat in this part of the country

    • @AustinFerguson
      @AustinFerguson 5 лет назад

I actually think its really the 7 DCT but modified with a gear out for the HEV side of things. I own the 17 Niro and it does seem like it has a fall back gear and I more confirmed this via the OBD port and using Torque w/ shift pids on my control thing. When it pops from N to 1ST - 6TH then backs down to 1st it has this odd hand over from the transmission to electric drive (ghost gear), this only occurs at lower speeds 0 to 15mph. I'm more incline to think they modified that 7 DCT out to accomplish this.

We own a 2018 Kia Niro Hybrid Touring and love it. Fuel economy has been better than ratings. Now, about all the changes for 2020:
    What's To Like:
LED Headlights, LED Fog Lights, Overall Changes to Front & Rear Styling Are Nice, Larger Infotainment Screen (still integrated into the dashboard rather than stuck on top like everybody else's afterthought, Yeh!), Paddle Shifters for Sport Mode, Tachometer in the Dash for Sport Mode, Chrome Body Spears to compliment chrome door handles. Interior Colour Choices???? Unfortunately, short sighted Canada will likely still only import Niros with black interiors.
    What's Not To Like:
Still sticking with "Piano Black" Interior Accents, Arghh! This ridiculous industry trend cannot pass soon enough. Still stuck with "Red Backlit Switchgear" which the human eye cannot easily focus on when the pupils are fully dilated. This is a Scientific Fact! Would have been nice to have a slightly larger battery for maybe up to 5 miles of EV mode coupled with adjustable Regen Levels as in the pure electric version. I still prefer the previous 18" Touring Model Wheels to these new ones.

Like this refresh overall compared to my 17 Niro. Only thing I'm not a fan of is the rear bumper configuration. I'm not sold on the idea of separated lights on the bottom bumper vs. just integrating it into the taillights. It made it look slightly uglier and more things to dive into when it needs to be looked at. Then top that with cleaning / detailing and its not fun.

    Good day dear,
I enjoy your reviews very much.
The biggest drawback of the 2017 Niro was a high noise level coming from the wheels while driving on a highway at around 70 miles per hour. Was it fixed on the new 2020 model ?
Besides the noisy interior, Niro is an awesome car for a family .
I have doubts and uncertainty about the 2020 Niro Hybrid vs Mazda CX30

Well I am enjoying my vehicle and it is serving me well, especially when it comes to efficiency Kia has done an excellent job. Forgot to ask, Is the battery in the 2020 model bigger than the 2018 model? Can it be upgraded if it is? Thanks.

      Al Causey
, I looked at both before buying the Niro. The reason I didn't get the Rav 4 was based on poor fuel economy for a hybrid, didn't like it's road handling and I don't like the look of the front end.....just about all modern Toyotas look weird to me. But, if you need AWD then the Niro isn't for you. Size wise, the Rav 4 is bigger but more so on the outside, inside there's not much in it.

I believe the combined torque of the gasoline and electric motor is right around 195 foot pounds. You'll really sense all of the electric torque when you put the vehicle in Sport Mode. The vehicle suddenly comes alive and is quite capable of lighting up the tires from a dead stop. In ECO mode, it's pretty lethargic.

Hi there, I love your reviews especially when you take the vehicles out for a really good test drive (for handling purposes of course). LOL.
    Questions:
I own a KIA Forte5, which isn't too bad for fun for an economical car. (Not a Lambo by any means).
I was wondering if you were able to let me know how "sporty" (driving & handling wise) the KIA Niro is compared to my Forte5?
I'm looking to have some fun still, but need a little more cargo room & of course the spectacular fuel economy that this has. (without a huge price tag)
Is the Niro style & handling closer to a hatchback or is it getting closer to a bigger SUV type vehicle?
Are you able to tow anything with the Niro? If so, do you know the towing capacity is if any?
Lastly, I'm curious about what type of vehicle you own compared to these KIA/Hyundai vehicles?
Thank You for your time & input on these questions,
(BTW, Sorry that my questions turned into a novel) LOL
    Cheers!!
