I was just going to mention that. This seems like a behind the scenes thing. Really hard to imagine that they just forgot about one of the main chars of the first game, especially considering that old Samuel is mentioned a couple of times by Emilly and Corvo.

Even a little send off where you get to see him one last time in a hospital room after its visting time for patients ended would have been nice.
That would have been a nice scene afterwards if arkane mentioned in the ending scenes that sokolov and piero both went back to the academy to teach after D1. I really do believe that there has been a terrible fallout between the devs and the PJ's voice actor.

Good take on that and I partly agree. Just wanted to point out that for me personally, it adds to the immersion that anything can happen like in real life. It keeps me interested in the lore, Dishonored universe and even the small findings like notes or letters. When you learn that certain character (good or bad) died off screen, you start to wonder, remembering and thinking. The fact that Dishonored series makes you do that was one of the factors that boosted it to my top games of all time.

you might like to know that by the time of Deathloop, the Joplin is referenced as a unit of measurement, likely for some electrical function. So he's comparable to the real-life Alessandro Volta: his legacy will live for as long as humans exist. It's hard to think of a grander reputation

Yes. I think it would've been nice if he went sailing with Callista after he cured the plague. Or maybe with Cecilia who seemed to be interested with him.
I think what I like is it's not that he earned it, but he deserved more recognition. However much like the real world, many are forgotten to time.
supposedly they ran out of money and time to develop the game and sacrifices needed to be made, which to be totally honest explains quite a lot of Dishonored 2's issues.
Me and a couple of viewers have a hunch that the voice actor had a fallout with Arkane. In Jindosh's case in D2,they were on record that it was a budgetary issue.

Headcannon: Sokolov and Piero got in a secret homosexual relationship and (when the time came) Sokolov was at Piero’s bedside holding his hand. After the fact Sokolov was stricken with grief and began to spiral into depression, that along with his kidnapping is why he’s so decrepit when we find him in dishonored 2.
