It's incredible to think that his show's been on so long that a different show that was new when this one first aired can get a nostalgic shout-out, either because of new, younger writers or millennial pop culture has finally trickled up to the older writers.
I grew up with it, and I honestly don't remember it or think about it as much as other stuff with which I grew up (Mainly Dr. Seuss and Sesame Street. I had a great childhood 😋) My younger brother hates it when I mention childhood show we both watched at a young age (Clifford The Big Red Dog, Sid the Science Kid et cetera), so I was expecting him to go ballistic. He didn't.
It's the same feeling I got learning about how much Johnny Cash loved the Seattle Sound and filled his albums with covers of guys like Soundgarden and Nine Inch Nails.
My dad always hated the Mail Time song, largely because it reminded him of a song you'd hear on Pee-Wee's Playhouse (Though it was largely because Steve's "MAIIIIIIIL!" wail sounded like Pee-Wee's shout; he didn't mind when Joe sang it, and wouldn't mind this one)

Wow I gotta say. They did Blue's Clues justice. And with the 25th anniversary and the message from Steve, I think I may wanna cry money into Paramount+ just to watch this whole show again.
I was hoping Peter would have received mail from Mailbox. That would have been die hard laughing hilarious. Peter: Oh look, its a letter from our friends. 😃🙌🏻
I find it ironic that the title of this episode is Meg Goes to College, in which there's a Blue's Clues mail time reference. And there's an episode in Blue's Clues when Steve is leaving for college.
You wanna know what I especially love about this scene? They didn't bastardize the song with some shitty, out of context joke or change the lyrics to suit a dirty narrative, they let Peter sing it in its original format without messing around with it.
