Yeah, same for me. This game has always been in the back of my head but could never place it until now, watching the intro gave me the largest nostalgia feeling ever
Except when the game cheated, spawning whole armor battalions out of forests that were recently cleared! God I hated that. It was just as well. I went the Command And Conquer route, especially the Tiberian Sun series. (Until Westwood nerfed Nod Artillery, I will never forgive them for that!) Hey, quick question, when I bought SS 1 , it came bundled with another game (Then called WWII Online), did your copy come bundled?
Yeah I remember that, I remember going to the store and it was it was in a bundle but there were a few others, bundled. I got the one that came with EU1 and 2 other games, I cant remember.
Emarex Official yes... it's stuck in my head now too lol... I always play by ear...can't read music. ..I can play anything immediately after hearing it tho
I'm very skeptical about SS4... I enjoyed so much SSF in multiplayer (still remember epic Severance and Pergatory fights). SSF was THE perfect multiplayer game (hated however the German players tendency to make "geometrical" maps, with rivers all the way). Sudden Strike 2 was very good. It was different than SSF. Tanks "power" was clearly widened, where losing a Top tier Tank or cannon (Tiger / KoeningsTiger / Elephant, or DCA) was a major disaster. The scale was smaller. SS2 gameplay - with importance of units being widened and infantry dying very quickly - was more prone to a "defensive" style with "chirurgical operations". Clearly preferred SSF greater scale and higher tendency to see massive rushes and players being more prone to take risks. OMG I have almost goosebumps remembering those massive 6vs6 battles, with artilleries having constantly over 100 points to bombard. Massive rushes. Destroyed landscapes. With so much teamplay required. SSF had this perfect mix of "grand scale" and micromanagement. Never overwhelming. Had to place front line almost in a chirurgical way. Place rifleman on the edge of this hill with 2 or 3 there to reinforce. A dozen there, inside the woods. Place 2 or 3 squares away Officers to that if riflemen are under the attack of snipers (with 1 or 2 extra square vision), officers can quickly be placed to widen the area without taking the first shot. But in the meantime, having behind this micromanaged front line: 6 artilleries casting death on the enemy front line on a constant basis. 30-50 tanks and 200 infantries waiting for the rush order. Having to scatter the artillery placement (so that they don't get all destroyed under one artillery barrage), leaving perfectly placed camions to take them away in case of attack / recon plane and Ammo crates so that they never get empty of bullets. Leaving a car next to the general so that he can escape quicker. ... Want SS4 to be exactly like this...
sudden strike is very unique game to play. it is one of most beloved rts franchise of its kind. they need to take direction from the original sudden strike & its expansion sudden strike forever. that will set the tone for its success i really hope for.
I allways hated those artillery strikes from AI. Could not finish the sudden strike forever game. I was really angry about this. I just hope that this wont be the case in the new game, sudden strike 4.
I still think SS2RW with the Real Warfare Mod is the best of all of them in how it plays and looks. The art, although 2D, still has a look to it that is more detailed and charming than the later ones to look at. The command and control is better too in many ways, but 3's addition of unit icons would be great in it along with the follow command. They need to make one more that looks and plays like SS2 with Real war Mod, but on a 3D landscape that actually effects line of sight with more types of terrain interaction in cover and concealment like a game like Combat Mission. SS2 is a great game, but the overpowering lightening on target artillery ruins SS2. My idea if they ever make another is to change it so the bino command for officers when pressing alt key turns into the artillery cursor. Can only target what officer sees. Artillery observers can do it too, but can also leave a restricted # of target reference points that can be targeted by artillery after line of sight broken. Would be such a great game taking the best from all the series and put into one final masterpiece. SS4 added some good UI, but still prefer SS2 with RWM.
hahaha, the new sudden strike is not going to be affected by any means from also developing for console. Funny. Sigh the only one I ever truly enjoyed was Sudden Strike. obviously the 2000 release. Countless hours of repeatative gameplay. idk I doubt the new release is going to be any good. I want deadsoldiers, destroyed units and etc. to PERMANENTLY stay on the map to make it more appealing. I mean for fuck sake's 2000 they had it, now we can't? they better not a limited amount of soldier count too. God the gaming industry went to shit on limitation long ago. IDC for graphics a lot. Give me the SS please.
Thanks. But I did not missed it. I simply decided not to include it, because SS Forever is basically greatly improved SS1. But I agree, SS Forever are my favorite as well.
I love old sudden strike but the difficulty level is far beyond my ability.... So i hope the new ss4 will have a range of difficulty level for all kind of players.
sudden strike forever is by far the best version. Even though I wasent wild about the Generals. if anyone is down to play some SsF let me know. [CR] FC Delco here. any old timers still around?
Hi mate. I played SSF when it was released. The times of GOA and then Gamespy. I played countless multiplayer battles (Severance, Pergatory. Kurskpanzerslacht... All unforgettable names) for years. I'm dinin70. With the hype getting up for SS4, I'm burning with the desire of playing again SSF with good old veterans. Where is the community? Is there still people playing it? How? Through Hamachi? Man, if you're still in touch with the community, please give me your hand to throw me back in it!
Kikoo Kikaboo I'm trying to find the community myself. but I'm down to play whenever. SsF that is. reply here to get a 1v1 going. I can play between 6 -10 pm eastern standard time
Hi Brad, I found a French community. However from what I see hardly more than 2-3 players playing simultaneously. sudden-strike-alliance.fr/ I'm trying to dig further since apparently there is around 500 persons frequently playing the game around the world. I'll keep you updated!
The music which is playing during Sudden Strike 2, I remember hearing in a game which I've played a lot... Can you please tell where it is from? I dont think it is Sudden Strike 2, as far as I can remember there was no music in Sudden Strike at all, at least not in part one and two. It makes me mad not remembering where the music comes from :)
I can't see the special of the first sudden strike 1, well I think sudden strike 4 is cool too, basically I'm a kid so, so SS4 is cooler for me, so those people who like first one, enjoy your childhood.
если выйдет coh 3-всем этим новодельным ss и блицкригам 3 со steel division пылиться в библиотеке.хотя смотрится неплохо.блиц3 тоже наобещали,а техника ездит как по рельсам.
Sudden strike 1 holds a special place in my mind and heart. first rts i ever played and i still love it! One of the greatest games ever created!

Me too
OMG still remember the theme song from the first game in my head... will be stuck there for eternity...
Emarex Official yes... it's stuck in my head now too lol... I always play by ear...can't read music. ..I can play anything immediately after hearing it tho
I was 6 when it came out to give you an idea
20 years already.
My childhood've just came back for a moment. I Pre-ordered the latest version, hope it would be fun as the old one.
Well done, thanks for the nostalgia-trip! :)
You're welcome!

I like the sudden strikes that don't have 3d graphics, makes it easier :)
Cool I didn't know there was such a game before Sudden Strike 1.
sudden strike is very unique game to play. it is one of most beloved rts franchise of its kind. they need to take direction from the original sudden strike & its expansion sudden strike forever. that will set the tone for its success i really hope for.
www.sudden-strike.net
sudden strike 1 and 2 are the best and they should go in that direction and not doing shit of other sudden strikes
*Blows dust of Counter Action CD*
Ohhhhh. Happy for 20 years. I love this game 😍😍😍
I saw the Counter Action disc in my uncle's house but never got around playing it. I never knew it was a predecessor to SS.
Sudden Strike 1..........i loved it........
I've tried to make SS1 work on a P1, 133 MHZ CPU for so long. Never actually accomplished this.
I allways hated those artillery strikes from AI. Could not finish the sudden strike forever game. I was really angry about this. I just hope that this wont be the case in the new game, sudden strike 4.
Very nice video! I have so many hours in SS 2
Best RTM strategic game, played 2 vs 2 on local net
I just wanted you to release a remastered mode of sudden strike!
The first sudden strike looks Awesome not gonna lie.
It did! And still does! One of the best RTS games to date! It's right up there with AOE, Warcraft 2, Starcraft 1 etc.
you forgot sudden strike for ever !
maybe you should have put Hidden stroke 2 as sudden strike community option. Loved by players.

And they did exactly that lol limited small scale fights like every other game. Even dawn of war 3
Loved the first two

Nicely done.
Thank you!
What music is playing from 3:38 minutes? I like it, 2000`s style: UFo Aftermath, Brigade E5 :).
Really don't know? The entire soundtrack is based off 1 game that was the best of the best in the series. 1
where is Sudden Strike Iwo Jima?
love your videos
Love u too :3
Very good video and I share your passion for the game, but you missed Sudden Strike Forever, which in my opinion is the best incarnation of the game.
Thanks. But I did not missed it. I simply decided not to include it, because SS Forever is basically greatly improved SS1. But I agree, SS Forever are my favorite as well.
I remember playing the first one and realising it was super hard.
The 2nd one was much easier. Although I think a little too easy.
Hi there. I am looking for people to play sudden strike 3 or 2 online. In case i don’t answer here my Instagram is @pdeart
i hope that sudden strike 1 and 2 will get released on gog.com some day!
I love old sudden strike but the difficulty level is far beyond my ability.... So i hope the new ss4 will have a range of difficulty level for all kind of players.

Holy shit yes. It's been a while but I loved that game. That was 17 years ago! You could call me an oldtimer XD
ss3 was hard to get to, that's way it fall short and ss4 didn't have the same mechanics as the other ss games.
my sudden strike play in 2013
