    as always job well done Dan!! just an update on my youngest son with cancer...He passed away Feb 14, 2015 at 1020 am. after his death my life got harder....lost my house, job, then things started looking up...found a house, found a job, started to get back to normal then my son's dog died then a week later my 19yr old son was murdered and the police have no leads.....again thank u for what u do!! U do it for fun or sell and I really just don't understand how your simple whimsical ways of creating things have an affect on people.....I immediately went to your page after both my son's died and watched every single video....when I get to sad I turn on ur videos....and read your books and especially watch ur tutorials....right now it's my only relief....so again....thank u sooooooo much!!

      Thank you very much. Yes, all big game hunters are heartless, but this dentist is the worst of the worst. This poor animal suffered for three days with an arrow in him. I'd love to introduce him to that pack of lions who ate the hippo poachers. Take care

      @GourmetPaperMache_ Год назад

      Hey again Mark. This piece was inspired by a sad, cruel story. This dentist is a big game hunter. That, in and of itself, would not draw my ire. (Note that I am a gun owner, and while I do not hunt myself, I have many friends that do.) But this guy crossed all moral, ethical lines. The lion he killed was virtually tame after living in a sanctuary for many years. He was known and beloved by people who lived in the region. This dentist lured Cecil out of his sanctuary in order to kill him. That would be bad enough, but he shot Cecil with an arrow which caused a not-quite mortal wound. He tracked this suffering animal for three days before finishing him off with a gun. All this so that he could put Cecil's head on a plaque. That was the point of putting this dentist's head on a plaque. The name of the piece is "Karma," for obvious reasons.

      @@GourmetPaperMache_ 😬😬😬😤😤😤 I can't stand people that do uncalled for things like this, especially those who kill animals that already halfway trusts them and takes advantage of that situation just to make themselves look Big bad brave!!😤 I love taxidermy and I love to hunt but I only killed for food or to protect the livestock. If i have an animal part hanging on the wall it's because I ate it and I want to honor it as well. That's why I love your technique, because I can make realistic animals and eith faux hair and what not and not even have to leave the house, don't have to hurt or kill anything, just make it look real snd there you go, instant harm free taxidermy,hahaha!! Like you, i own guns but Don't like to use them unless the situation is dire. when we were kids, my dad taught us not to shoot anything less we wanted to eat it! I remember shooting thid yard lizard when I was ten and my dad cooked it up, sat me down and made me eat it or get the belt! Should never kill an animal that you're going to eat and those who do for just the sake of killing something, you can tell what kind of person they are to their family, friends, and especially strangers! They are of piss poor quality and just plain miserable! For that, I love this piece and I give it Triple-A pluses !!! JUSTICE FOR CECIL!!!!!!!👍👍

      @@geronimosrifle2913 Well you just expressed my sentiment much better than I could. I agree with everything you said. You sound a lot like my friends who I love and admire. I had a few people angry with me for putting his head on a plaque, telling me that I can't compare a human life to that of an animal. It's a strange criticism. I had to explain to them that I didn't actually kill the dentist. I made a piece of art expressing how I feel about it. That's a far cry from killing a tame lion, not to mention a magnificent animal. It's a pleasure to know you Mark!

    • @GourmetPaperMache_
      @GourmetPaperMache_ Год назад

      @@geronimosrifle2913 You can "hog" my time any old time! About the cat enclosure....of course I'd love to let my cats run free, but it's gotten really dangerous in the city these days for outdoor cats. Coyotes are prevalent and have made outdoor cats a staple of their diet (of course they also eat rats and rabbits that have exploded in numbers recently). Not to mention the cats that get hit by cars (despite how my back yard looks I live on a very busy arterial) and disease like feline leukemia. When I was younger stray cats seemed to find me. At one point I had three. But then I took in a sad looking cat who unbeknownst to me was a feline leukemia carrier. That ended up killing all of them. That's a trauma I don't ever want to relive. So the "catio" is a good compromise for my city cats. So that's that.

    • @Gourmetpapermache
      @Gourmetpapermache  9 лет назад +11

      +spinocroc123
      He is a big game hunter. Cecil was a lion in a protected area of Zimbabwe. He was lured out and killed for his head. This was a lion well known around the world (which doesn't matter to me). This dentist first shot him with an arrow. I'm sure he thinks that using a bow and arrow somehow makes him more of a man even though the lion is tracked by hired guides and presented to him to kill. It's a particularly cruel way to hunt. The lion suffered for two days before the dentist found him and shot him again with a gun. He cut off the lion's head, hid the tracking collar the lion wore, and left the carcass to rot. It was cruel, heartless, savage. I hope that whenever he sees Cecil's head on his wall that he remembers how he despised he has become. So I put this killer's head on a plaque as my symbolic protest.

      ***** I thought the idea was clever as an artistic statement of protest. However I don't advocate violence towards anyone or anything.
      Call me radical but I think the point we should all take from this is that more violence is something the world does not need.
      The absurd idea of hunting for sport is a symptom of the larger issue related to killing in general.
      For the record I am a vegan and so don't eat animals, wear their skins or use products derived from animals. I do my best to not live with kindness and compassion towards all living things.
      I expect that many who advocate some terrible and violent end to Walter do so without giving a second thought to the fear and suffering of the animals killed for food, they likely consume daily.
      There is a certain irony remarks and perhaps more than a little hypocrisy in those who are critical of Walter while having no idea of the suffering they cause by virtue of the food they choose to eat.
      I am by no means defending Walter. I think his was an act of calculated, wanton and deliberate cruelty.
      However the death of this single lion offers us an opportunity to look at killing in a larger context. If we really do want to live in a world of peace should we not begin by first addressing the violent behavior of the human species?

      Marvin Double
      Thanks for the thoughtful comments Marvin. I agree with you. I am vegetarian myself. I know that not everyone is going to agree with this video statement. I'm not advocating any harm to this man. But the reversal of roles was too hard to resist as an artist. The difference is, of course, that I made this trophy out of paper mache, while he prefers to kill the animal. Take care

    • @mdouble100
      @mdouble100 9 лет назад

      GourmetPaperMache I hope most reasonable people will understand you are making a joke - which I think is very clever. It makes the point in a single image.
      I am sure you understood that my comment was directed at those who actually wish harm to Walter Palmer and not you.
      I think it absurd that anyone would seriously consider that the way to reduce violence and cruelty is to be more violent or more cruel, yet such is often the case.
      In the furor which erupted over the killing of Cecil some of commented that the reaction seemed out of balance. Put another way, millions of our fellow humans are subjected to war, starvation and poverty daily. These souls often suffer and die in misery when the cause of such suffering is entirely needless.
      Cecil may well be symbolic not only of wanton cruelty, but so much more. The money spent to put his head on a plaque could have done so much more if spent on food or medical care for those in greatest need.

    • @Gourmetpapermache
      @Gourmetpapermache  9 лет назад +1

      Marvin Double
      I couldn't agree more Marvin! People argue that those hunts add needed money to the economy of those countries. There are many ways to spend money. I read the other day that Donald Trumps sons hunt for big game. One said he paid $1.2 million for a particular animal. Aside from the question about cruelty and violence, consider how many ways that money could have been spent to help the people in those impoverished regions. Thanks again Marvin.
