as always job well done Dan!! just an update on my youngest son with cancer...He passed away Feb 14, 2015 at 1020 am. after his death my life got harder....lost my house, job, then things started looking up...found a house, found a job, started to get back to normal then my son's dog died then a week later my 19yr old son was murdered and the police have no leads.....again thank u for what u do!! U do it for fun or sell and I really just don't understand how your simple whimsical ways of creating things have an affect on people.....I immediately went to your page after both my son's died and watched every single video....when I get to sad I turn on ur videos....and read your books and especially watch ur tutorials....right now it's my only relief....so again....thank u sooooooo much!!
+Pearl Wagner
Wow, I'm very sorry to hear this Pearl. You had to put up with a lot! I'm glad my videos help a little. Only time can fix things like that. Good luck to you as you recover.
Dan
LOL! I like the ending of a fake bullet to his head...;)
Even though that's sort of creepy for something to put on your wall or in general creepy, I think this is awesome! I could never make something this good, expecially using something as difficult as paper mache! Good job with not only this but all of your other pieces.
+Anuri Collins
Thank you for the nice comment Anuri! It is much appreciated!
Dan
Brilliant, we just need the real one ..asap !
+Paulus Crassus
Thank you Paulus! I appreciate the note.

Rozani Navas-Smith
Hi Rozani! Nice to hear from you! Hope you are still doing art. Thanks for the nice compliment. Much appreciated.
Dan
You're welcome. I'm still doin Art, making Dragons and a big mess! Always looking for inspiration, though, to keep those juices flowing. Love that you continue to inspire people with your talented wit and wisdom.
Rozani Navas-Smith
Glad to hear it. Yes, this caused a bit of a stir. Not everyone likes the piece. But that's okay. When someone looks at our art, it's the yawn we dread. Take care
Dan
Please don't stop creating, Really love your Awesome Creations!.
+John Lee
Thank you John! I appreciate the note very much. I couldn't stop even if I wanted. I have many projects in the works right now. It just takes a long time to make one and then to make and edit the videos. But I make them as fast as I can.
Take care
Dan
I am absolutely in love with this, especially the end well done sir.
Poison Industries
Thank you for this nice comment Poison Industries! I'm glad you like the piece.
Dan
Your all videos awesome ✌️😜 😜
Which liquid material use for this video ?
Pls stay connected 😀😀 😀
Thank you very much! (sorry I didn't get notified of this comment. I'm just seeing it now.) The cloth "skin" is old bed sheets dipped in white glue like Elmer's.
This is how you express disgust with evil through art. Wonderful
Thank you. Putting his head on a plaque seemed the appropriate response to someone who would do the same with a majestic animal.
GourmetPaperMache absolutely
Well done, Dan! Thank you for sharing. Love the music choice
originalwillow1
Thanks Willow, on all counts.
wow that is really good... love your videos man... one day I hope to step back up into the paper mache rink ... this is damn good stuff.... for cecil....

william hernandez
Thank you William! Glad you find these videos useful. Good luck on your masks!
Dan
Dan: Skillfully done! I'm still hurting over the death of Cecil, but you've created something to help people see the savagery and cruelty of trophy hunting. Thank you so much for your work.
davravidumn
You are very nice. Thank you for your remarks. Yes, I must admit it made me feel better after making this little statement. The worst part is how many other worthy recipients I have heard about since I made this trophy. There is no shortage of cruelty in the world.
Take care
Dan
I just love your work it just fun to watch and always puts a smile on my face

+marcos roberto bermudez
Gracias. Acabo de utilizar la harina y el agua para la pasta. Nada especial. ¡Buena suerte!
I must confess that I've been watching your videos lately, and I feel amazed about all this well rewarded job you do! I live in Brazil and I'd love to do some things like these by myself. I think you could make a video explaining all the materials you commonly use, such as the skin for the wings and tough pieces, like teeth, spikes and claws. I reallly liked your job. Thanks for making me feel so happy by watching such a simple video!! :D
That is SOOOO AMAZING !!
Leonie Schwab
Thanks Leonie!
This is awesome! Thank you for doing this!

You are very welcome! Thank you for the note!
Dan
Great subject, statement and execution.
whereswilliedotcom
Thank you so much! I'm very flattered! You know, as an artist, that concept was just dangling there, waiting to be picked. It had to be done.
Dan
You did a great job on this one. A little creepy though, I guess that what you were going for with the weird eyes and mouth. It's amazing how you can do stuff like this, my imagination is only limited to paper. I'm not as good at stuff like u do.
You are amazing, love ur work, mostly the dragons
Lauren Rae
Thank you Lauren. It's always a challenge doing caricature. And this is a bit creepy. I was going for that. Thanks for the note. And there will be plenty more dragons for those who haven't run away from this one. :-)
Dan
Absolutely brilliant!

Hey Debbie. You are always very supportive. Thank you as always! Glad you like this.

I love this Dan. Nice job!!!
david david grande
Hey David. Nice to hear from you. Thanks as always.
Dan
Your welcome Dan
Hi. I think I got cut off before I got my comment finished. What kind of mache glue do you use? Standard flour/water? or something else?
Yes, I just use flour and water in about equal parts.
Also, Ukulelemike, you should check out his book! www.amazon.com/Paper-Mache-Dragons-Making-Trophies/dp/1501037099/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1474786040&sr=8-2&keywords=gourmet+paper+mache He is so talented!
Thank you LegoKris!
yes, just flour and water.
So while watching this, I was doing my research about Walter Palmer on this whole killing Cecil incident & I honestly believe from what Mr. Crooked Walter did was very unlawful & despicable. I'm very amused that you've made a cloth mache taxidermy of Walter's Head, I thought it was hilarious & you did real good on it.
Thank you very much. Yes, all big game hunters are heartless, but this dentist is the worst of the worst. This poor animal suffered for three days with an arrow in him. He was lured out of his refuge to be shot by this jerk. My guess is he does root canals for free just to torment his patients. I'd love to introduce him to that pack of lions who ate the hippo poachers. Take care
you are sooo cool. I love to do such things but had no idea how impressive it can be. I wish i could do smth like this with you.
+Game Gym
Hello. Sorry, just seeing this comment. Thanks for the kind words. You can do this kind of art. You just need to start. Truly.
Take care
Dan
very nice work. meaningful and beautiful.
caner arik
Glad you like this Caner!
Dan
This piece has to have one heck of a headless story behind it that is just itchin' to be told!! hahaha
Hey again Mark. This piece was inspired by a sad, cruel story. This dentist is a big game hunter. That, in and of itself, would not draw my ire. (Note that I am a gun owner, and while I do not hunt myself, I have many friends that do.) But this guy crossed all moral, ethical lines. The lion he killed was virtually tame after living in a sanctuary for many years. He was known and beloved by people who lived in the region. This dentist lured Cecil out of his sanctuary in order to kill him. That would be bad enough, but he shot Cecil with an arrow which caused a not-quite mortal wound. He tracked this suffering animal for three days before finishing him off with a gun. All this so that he could put Cecil's head on a plaque. That was the point of putting this dentist's head on a plaque. The name of the piece is "Karma," for obvious reasons.
@@GourmetPaperMache_ 😬😬😬😤😤😤 I can't stand people that do uncalled for things like this, especially those who kill animals that already halfway trusts them and takes advantage of that situation just to make themselves look Big bad brave!!😤 I love taxidermy and I love to hunt but I only killed for food or to protect the livestock. If i have an animal part hanging on the wall it's because I ate it and I want to honor it as well. That's why I love your technique, because I can make realistic animals and eith faux hair and what not and not even have to leave the house, don't have to hurt or kill anything, just make it look real snd there you go, instant harm free taxidermy, hahaha!! Like you, i own guns but Don't like to use them unless the situation is dire. when we were kids, my dad taught us not to shoot anything less we wanted to eat it! I remember shooting thid yard lizard when I was ten and my dad cooked it up, sat me down and made me eat it or get the belt! Should never kill an animal that you're going to eat and those who do for just the sake of killing something, you can tell what kind of person they are to their family, friends, and especially strangers! They are of piss poor quality and just plain miserable! For that, I love this piece and I give it Triple-A pluses !!! JUSTICE FOR CECIL!!!!!!!👍👍
@@geronimosrifle2913 Well you just expressed my sentiment much better than I could. I agree with everything you said. You sound a lot like my friends who I love and admire. I had a few people angry with me for putting his head on a plaque, telling me that I can't compare a human life to that of an animal. It's a strange criticism. I had to explain to them that I didn't actually kill the dentist. I made a piece of art expressing how I feel about it. That's a far cry from killing a tame lion, not to mention a magnificent animal. It's a pleasure to know you Mark!
@@GourmetPaperMache_ what kind of world are we living in where you have to explain paper material mache head on a plaque 😋😋😋. It's a Doggone danged great pleasure knowing you too sir! Thank you for your time, sorry for hoggin' it up hehehhe. Speaking of cats,, i better let you get back to your little furry friends, speaking of which, i absolutely love that enclosure you made for them. I saw the video earlier and commented on it. Good job there jack-of-all-trades hehehe👍👍
@@geronimosrifle2913 You can "hog" my time any old time! About the cat enclosure....of course I'd love to let my cats run free, but it's gotten really dangerous in the city these days for outdoor cats. Coyotes are prevalent and have made outdoor cats a staple of their diet (of course they also eat rats and rabbits that have exploded in numbers recently). Not to mention the cats that get hit by cars (despite how my back yard looks I live on a very busy arterial) and disease like feline leukemia. When I was younger stray cats seemed to find me. At one point I had three. But then I took in a sad looking cat who unbeknownst to me was a feline leukemia carrier. That ended up killing all of them. That's a trauma I don't ever want to relive. So the "catio" is a good compromise for my city cats. So that's that.
You need to do this for the idiot mother that let her child fall into Harambe's enclosure and got Harambe killed. R.I.P. Cecil and Harambe
I couldn't agree more! Thanks!
+GourmetPaperMache what is your next video being uploaded. what will it be
Brilliant!!! I love it so much!!
6papi
Thank you! You are very kind.
Dan
Nifty. I made the Cyclops from the old Sinbad movie as a trophy head. I used aluminium foil for the skull and Sculpy polymer clay over that. He's about the size of a softball. I would like to try to make a goblin from the animated version of The Hobbit.
Sorry just seeing your comment. Yes, aluminum foil is an excellent way to start! That sounds like an excellent project! Good luck with your goblin!
Please come to Brazil. I love your work, i hope someday i can do amazing things like u
+Fireflies
Thank you Fireflies. I'm happy you like my work. You just need to make something. It's all about practice.
Good luck
Dan
Hey again!
Sorry but I've never really heard about that Walter Palmer, who is that man? Is he a killer?
+spinocroc123
He is a big game hunter. Cecil was a lion in a protected area of Zimbabwe. He was lured out and killed for his head. This was a lion well known around the world (which doesn't matter to me). This dentist first shot him with an arrow. I'm sure he thinks that using a bow and arrow somehow makes him more of a man even though the lion is tracked by hired guides and presented to him to kill. It's a particularly cruel way to hunt. The lion suffered for two days before the dentist found him and shot him again with a gun. He cut off the lion's head, hid the tracking collar the lion wore, and left the carcass to rot. It was cruel, heartless, savage. I hope that whenever he sees Cecil's head on his wall that he remembers how he despised he has become. So I put this killer's head on a plaque as my symbolic protest.
Dan
That's bad......
Anyway, (sorry for an off-topic question)
Can you make a paper mache octopus? I think that will be cool.
+spinocroc123 He is PIECE OF SHIT !!!
+viamilitaris011
That's being too polite. Thanks!
Dan
What is that paint you use at 1:27? It makes it all look so cool! I love your work by the way!

Hi Bradley. Sorry, just seeing this for the first time. I think you just need to make a simple monster. Learn the techniques. You can see many projects
being made on my blog, www.papermacheblog.com. And I have how-to books if you are interested. gourmetpapermache.com/about-my-books/

I can't remember. Are those white sheets you use or paper?
Hello Julie. I use bed sheets (I like white for filming, but it can be any color) dipped in white glue.
GourmetPaperMache that's what I thought! I love that part.
Absolutely amazing. Well done, you are talented beyond belief. I will post this on my Facebook page. I am a TV producer and Star of a TV show called "The Auto Baron"

I wonder what process do to your work was so great. and I always see that the nuns newspaper with a yellowish liquid medium, as it is called? as you do to make it solid and hard? Thanks for your attention, keep it and forgive my English horrendous. I wait your answer.

Hello AC. I use flour and water paste with the newspaper. I am not sure if this is what you mean. After I sculpt, I put a "skin" of cloth (bed sheets) dipped in white, all purpose glue. Perhaps that is what you are looking at.
Good luck!

Marvin Double
Thanks Marvin!
***** I thought the idea was clever as an artistic statement of protest. However I don't advocate violence towards anyone or anything.
Call me radical but I think the point we should all take from this is that more violence is something the world does not need.
The absurd idea of hunting for sport is a symptom of the larger issue related to killing in general.
For the record I am a vegan and so don't eat animals, wear their skins or use products derived from animals. I do my best to not live with kindness and compassion towards all living things.
I expect that many who advocate some terrible and violent end to Walter do so without giving a second thought to the fear and suffering of the animals killed for food, they likely consume daily.
There is a certain irony remarks and perhaps more than a little hypocrisy in those who are critical of Walter while having no idea of the suffering they cause by virtue of the food they choose to eat.
I am by no means defending Walter. I think his was an act of calculated, wanton and deliberate cruelty.
However the death of this single lion offers us an opportunity to look at killing in a larger context. If we really do want to live in a world of peace should we not begin by first addressing the violent behavior of the human species?
Marvin Double
Thanks for the thoughtful comments Marvin. I agree with you. I am vegetarian myself. I know that not everyone is going to agree with this video statement. I'm not advocating any harm to this man. But the reversal of roles was too hard to resist as an artist. The difference is, of course, that I made this trophy out of paper mache, while he prefers to kill the animal. Take care
GourmetPaperMache I hope most reasonable people will understand you are making a joke - which I think is very clever. It makes the point in a single image.
I am sure you understood that my comment was directed at those who actually wish harm to Walter Palmer and not you.
I think it absurd that anyone would seriously consider that the way to reduce violence and cruelty is to be more violent or more cruel, yet such is often the case.
In the furor which erupted over the killing of Cecil some of commented that the reaction seemed out of balance. Put another way, millions of our fellow humans are subjected to war, starvation and poverty daily. These souls often suffer and die in misery when the cause of such suffering is entirely needless.
Cecil may well be symbolic not only of wanton cruelty, but so much more. The money spent to put his head on a plaque could have done so much more if spent on food or medical care for those in greatest need.
Marvin Double
I couldn't agree more Marvin! People argue that those hunts add needed money to the economy of those countries. There are many ways to spend money. I read the other day that Donald Trumps sons hunt for big game. One said he paid $1.2 million for a particular animal. Aside from the question about cruelty and violence, consider how many ways that money could have been spent to help the people in those impoverished regions. Thanks again Marvin.
A bit off topic, but have you ever tried making POSEABLE sculptures?
+Luke Frampton (ReverseCreeper)
Hi Luke. I've made marionettes. But I haven't done any other articulated pieces. Maybe sometime.
Take care
Dan
where do you buy the eyes or do you make those as well?

Oh, hi Joe. That makes sense. You are a very kind, supportive person. Thank you. It is much appreciated.
But who has more market value? The Doctor or an artist?
Market value? Strange. Don't know about this dentist, but this artist is retired and living comfortably.
