  • Lamborghini, the renowned Italian automaker, is certainly keeping itself occupied with a flurry of activities. In addition to unveiling the remarkable Revuelto V12 plug-in hybrid supercar and meticulously finalizing the Urus PHEV, the company is now earnestly testing the successor to the Huracan. Recently, automotive enthusiasts managed to catch a glimpse of this baby Lambo in action, as it gracefully glided along public roads during its testing phase. Interestingly, it appears that this prototype boasts an actual production body, rather than sporting temporary panels typically found on early test mules.
At first glance, the eye-catching yellow "high-voltage" stickers boldly indicate that this vehicle is a test model powered by a hybrid engine. Exhibiting a sense of humor, Lamborghini has playfully adorned the headlights with stickers in an attempt to deceive casual observers into believing that the car possesses Gallardo headlights. Yet, upon closer inspection, one can discern the true location of the headlights, situated lower on the vehicle. The imposing front bumper showcases large air intakes, which cleverly integrate hexagonal daytime running lights.
Further trickery awaits at the rear of the car, where the "taillights" appear to have been borrowed from the Aventador. However, careful observation reveals that there are cutouts in the stickers, teasing the genuine taillights that flank a solitary hexagonal exhaust (featuring two circular tips), in contrast to the Revuelto's dual configuration (boasting four tips). Moreover, the substantial diffuser, with its elongated vertical fins, is not fully encompassed by the rear bumper, affording us a glimpse of the robust rear tires. It remains unclear whether this represents the final design or if certain components were missing from the prototype's rear. Nonetheless, one cannot help but imagine the sheer magnificence if the production model were to emulate this captivating aesthetic.
The side profile proudly showcases generously proportioned air intakes, both ahead of the rear wheels and within the quarter panel. As is customary for supercars, visibility outwards seems somewhat compromised, particularly given that the quarter glass of the Huracan appears to have been replaced by a vent. However, this area is swathed in a substantial amount of camouflage, so it's possible that the disguise is playing tricks on our perception. All things considered, it is reasonable to anticipate that the "entry-level" Lamborghini will follow in the footsteps of its illustrious sibling, the Revuelto, thus one should not expect a dramatically distinct design when compared to the outgoing V10 machine.
Speaking of the powertrain, the venerable 5.2-liter engine is poised to retire, making way for a hybrid system built around a smaller gasoline mill. Reports suggest that the successor will feature a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, although official confirmation is still pending. Allegedly, these turbochargers will spring to life once the engine surpasses 7,000 revolutions per minute (rpm), effectively endowing the Huracan successor with the spirited performance akin to that of a naturally aspirated supercar below this threshold. Speculation suggests that the V8 powerplant may exhibit an impressive redline of 10,000 rpm.
Lamborghini has already divulged that the transverse dual-clutch, eight-speed automatic transmission employed in the Revuelto will find its place in the forthcoming "lesser" model. While the V12 flagship proudly incorporates three electric motors, it remains uncertain how many of these power sources the engineers will manage to fit within the more compact vehicle. Equally enigmatic is the presence of a charging port in the yet-to-be-named model. However, it has been disclosed that the successor will offer an all-wheel-drive system, ensuring optimal traction and dynamic performance.
As Lamborghini undertakes the development of the Huracan replacement independently, owing to the impending departure of the Audi R8, the world can eagerly anticipate the official unveiling of the new car in late 2024. Meanwhile, prospective buyers should take note that the remaining production allocation for the mid-engined supercar has already been spoken for, effectively closing the order books for this remarkable machine.

Those hexagonal donut-shaped LEDs look horrendous. And given the ugliness of the Revuelto I believe these'll make it to production, sadly.

@CJ-xx5ms how old are you? Imo the Revuelto will appeal only to young boys/men whereas the Aventador appeals to all kinds of demographics, men, women, kids, sports people, business people... Etc
